Welcome to our very first developer update. Hope the beginning of fall has been treating you well 🍂 Oppidum has been really shaping up during these months since the release of the store, and we want to give you a rundown of some of the stuff we've been working on. Join us while we go through some of the biggest points we want to share with you 👇

TIME TO SHARPEN OUR COMBAT 🔪
We've been working a lot on making combat feel good, while still being a challenging experience. The 'feel good' part is easy to figure out but requires a lot of hard work and attention to detail. Animations, VFX, sound effects... all add up to this. For example, have a look at this small comparison when parrying an enemy's attack. The previous version cancelled its animation when parried, while now it flows smoothly from one to another in a much smoother way:



Visual effects also play an important role in making the player feel each enemy's strike and distinguish them from each other. Here are some of the visual effects we've been working on:



Challenge will depend entirely on the player's preference. We want to make the game accessible and give you the choice of whether you want it to be a difficult hurdle or a more chill experience. Ultimately, it will depend on how you decide to play. However, different enemies will behave differently, so if you decide to engage in combat, you will have to be ready to learn about their techniques.



ENVIRONMENTS ARE IN PLACE 🍃
As you might already know, Oppidum is heavy on storytelling and exploration. You're going to spend a lot of time wandering these lands in search of adventure, so they have to look great!

Take a look at one of the two main settlements of the game, Litore: a nice and cozy coastal town that will play an important part after you arrive in Insule.



And speaking of Insule, we've also been working on making the island lively and full of history. For anyone wondering about these landmarks, it should be clear that someone came before them. The isle is sprinkled with the remains of a civilization lost to time and memory:



And of course, don't forget that neither you nor the friends you will make are the only ones with a claim to these lands. Thudulks have camps all over Insule, and they are a source of valuable loot as well as challenging battles.

Aside from these grand visual additions to the game, we've also made sure that everything surrounding your gameplay will uphold to the same standards of quality. We've worked hard on aspects of the game such as visual effects for items and resources, improvements to the light:



Of course, not everything is 3D models and visual effects. We're particularly proud of the icons our illustrator has prepared for every item in the game. This is how they will look in your inventory; take a look at some of them:



The story of the game is coming along nicely. It's a quest-driven story that will make you progress through the game while you explore the island and discover everything it has to offer. We can't wait to show you more about it!

Coming next, we're working on the settlement building mechanics, which involve crafting your own weapons and armors, cooking delicious treats that will buff your character, and farming and fishing to gather those nutritious ingredients. We'll also keep working on multiplayer. It's an essential part of the game, so we're determined to make it as good as it can be. Look forward to future devlogs about this!

Prepare for a spectral transformation as we unveil a brand-new Arena map, crafted with uncanny details, designed to amplify your Halloween gaming experience. Bug fixes and enhancements are also on the agenda.



Early Access and Development: As we continue to navigate through this otherworldly journey, it's crucial to acknowledge that we are still in an alpha build phase. Expect the unexpected, report issues to our Discord, and contribute to making The Bornless the haunt you desire. Your diligent feedback is invaluable to us. As a token of our appreciation, participants have the opportunity to receive Enigma boxes and other rewards. Join our bug hunts and see our Discord for full details on how these are awarded.

Access Key Required: To take part in this Halloween festivity, you'll need an access key. Secure yours now; they're as elusive as a ghost.

How to Get a Key: Sign up for our waitlist on our website or through Steam by Requesting access to our Playtests directly. The spirits may just choose you. Don't miss this opportunity to be among the first to explore the dark and treacherous universe. If you already signed up through our waitlist or Steam Playtest - you do not need to enter again, you're still eligible to enter any future playtest.



Limited Player Capacity: Due to server capacity, we can only accommodate a limited number of players for this event. Make sure to sign up early to secure your spot. If you don't get accepted for this playtest, don't be disheartened. More playtests are on the horizon, and if you've registered on our waitlist, you're still in the running for future events.

Game Modes:
This Halloween Playtest comes alive with two spectral experiences—our ever-evolving Titan mode and a newly introduced 2v2 Arena map. In Titan, expect a smoother and more polished journey, filled with recent bug fixes and improvements that are waiting just beyond the veil for you to discover.

As for our 2v2 Arena, be one of the first souls to tread on its haunted grounds. The new map is woven with elements designed to give you chills as you and a partner try to outwit and outfight the opposition.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Enhanced Edition - Necessary
Hello, Pathfinders!
Over the two years since Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was released, we have identified the least popular class and the one that you, our favorite players, have been asking us to improve. We have listened and are delighted to announce that the Assassin class has been redesigned and upgraded in update 2.2, which will be available on November 21 with The Lord of Nothing DLC! We understand that the main problem with the old Assassin was using poisons in a world where most enemies are immune to poisons. So, we've added new mythic feats that allow you to ignore this immunity. We'll cover the new mythic feats in a separate article, but for now, let's focus on the changes to the Assassin:

Instead of Death Attack, we added a new ability called Mark of Death. This is a standard action that requires you to make a knowledge check appropriate to the creature type. If the check is successful, you point to a target with a mark. As long as the creature is marked, your attacks against it ignore its DR and resistance. You can only have one victim marked at a time.
At the 7th level, the Assassin can use Mark of Death as a swift action.

Also, we added a new mechanic: Assassinate Target. The Assassin can make a full-round action that instantly kills a target marked with Mark of Death. A target unaware of the Assassin (you must sneak up to the target) must make a Fortitude saving throw with DC 10 + the Assassin's level + Intelligence modifier, and dies on a failure. On a success, this Assassin attack is treated as a critical hit (it still needs to be confirmed) and the target gains the Shaken condition for 1d4 rounds. After that, Assassinate Target cannot be reapplied to the target for one day.

At the 2nd level, the Assassin gains the Use Poison ability, and we've also improved this progression, including how it interacts with other class mechanics. Now, if you apply poison to a target marked with Mark of Death, the target must make two Fortitude saves and choose the worst result.
The ability progresses with every level:
At the 2nd level, the Assassin has access to poisons that deal 1d4 stat damage to Strength or Dexterity for 4 rounds;
At the 3rd level, poison duration increases by 1 round;
At the 4th level, the Assassin gains access to a poison that deals Constitution damage;
At the 5th level, the number of successful saving throws needed to remove the poison increases to 2;
At the 6th level, poison duration increases by 1 round;
At the 7th level, the Assassin can apply poisons as a move or a swift action;
At the 8th level, poison duration increases by 1 round;
At the 9th level, the number of successful saving throws needed to remove the poison increases to 3;
At the 10th level, the Assassin's poison target takes poison damage even with a successful Fortitude check.

Additionally, the redesigned Assassin gains the Cold Minded ability at the 2nd level, which grants a +2 bonus to saving throws against mind-affecting, compulsion, fear, and emotion effects. This ability increases every 3 levels, reaching a +4 bonus at the 8th level.

A new ability at the 3rd level is Alter Ego. The Assassin can create copies of themselves to distract the enemy. As long as at least one copy is present on the battlefield, all creatures attacked by the Assassin take damage from a sneak attack. This ability works like Mirror Image.

At the 4th level, the Assassin now has the Public Execution ability. Each time the Assassin kills a target, they make a Persuasion check to demoralize all enemies within 30 feet. If the target is under the influence of Mark of Death, the Assassin gains a +2 bonus on this check.

Finally, at the 10th level, the Assassin becomes a Master Assassin. You have mastered the art of assassination to the point you can deliver a killing blow before the target can react. The Assassinate Target ability can now be used as a standard action. You also add sneak attack damage to all attack rolls on a target marked with Mark of Death, even if you don't have an advantage.

We hope that players will now achieve Mastery at slaying demons and be able to diversify their Crusade style! Good luck in the Worldwound!

Hypnospace Outlaw - ZxAxify
Hey enforcers!

LONG TIME NO SEE!

We’ve got a small update for you regarding Steam Cloud Saves, which we’ve finally enabled for Hypnospace Outlaw! There’s a couple of important details we wanted to share with you, so you’re across all of it:

  • Once your saves are synced via Steam Cloud, the save files uploaded to the cloud will be considered your canonical save files, and they will sync automatically (as long as you have an internet connection), overwriting any previous, local saves. If you've purchased and installed Hypnospace via Itch, GOG, or otherwise in addition to Steam, this will overwrite those save files as well!!

  • Any mods installed on one device must be installed on your other device(s) BEFORE you load the save file!! Otherwise mod-related save data may be lost, and in some cases may break your save

  • If you’re playing on a Linux device or Steam Deck, when you load your save on a Windows or Mac, Hypii will have his text-to-speech (TTS) turned OFF, because Hypnospace on Linux does not support TTS. To resolve this, when you load your save file on your Windows/Mac device, open the Settings app -> Audio tab -> Robot Language Only: toggle to OFF; Caption All Hypii Speech: toggle to OFF.


And that’s pretty much all there is to it! Now you’ll easily be able to access your Hypnospace Steam save data wherever you go, as long as there’s no violations involved, of course

2. Server Patch Details
1) The Auction House and Alchemy Desk Transfer category will be temporarily restricted so that we can fix the issue where ‘Legendary Grade Unique Gear’ can be transferred to ‘Normal Gear’.

3. To Note
- Please exit the game completely before logging in again for the patch to be applied.
- Please note that you will not be able to enter the Auction HouseConstellation of Time, and Chaos Dungeons for 10 minutes before and after the patch.



Please be advised that players may experience temporary disconnections while the patch is underway.
