When the Light Dies is taking part in Steam’s SHMUP Fest to celebrate the spirit of timing, power-ups, and lots of bullets!

Want to get a first look at what’s to come? Check out our When the Light Dies Let’s Play below and watch as we fend off hordes of enemies lurking in a desolate frozen wasteland, level up our character, manage their skills … and try not to go insane.

This is the very first time we are demoing the game, so make sure to have a look! And don’t worry, a Steam demo is currently in the works and will be available to play soon.

Qualifying Round

• The qualifying round lasts three days
  
• Players have a daily chance each day of the qualifying round to secure their spot in the elimination round
  
• The top 50% of the qualifying round leaderboard advance to the elimination round
  
• Players that qualify on day one (top 50%) do not need to play on day two or three of the qualifying round
  
• Players that do not qualify on day one are still eligible to compete on days two or three to secure an elimination round spot

Elimination Round

• The elimination round lasts two days
  
• Players only get one chance to grab a spot in the final round, unlike the qualifying round
  
• The top 50% of the elimination round leaderboard advance to the final round

Final Round

• The final round also lasts two days
  
• If you’ve made it this far, you’ll receive a prize no matter what, but the higher you rank, the bigger the prizes

Other Things to Know

• We base scoring on total strokes, meaning the fewer shots you take to complete your matches, the higher you rank on the leaderboard
  
• Incomplete or forfeited holes score as bogeys

Fixed an issue where stone could be capped at 20 even when you have greater capacity

Added a shop, coins, 7 ball skins (for now, more on the way), and a level select!

• Baked new Traffic Cones DMC on Arch Angel for performance benefit
  
• Baked new Wood Beams DMC on Arch Angel for performance benefit
  
• Fixed respawn planes on Arch Angel so that you truly go to heaven
  
• Lowered backup physics grid collision on Arch Angel
  
• Added Colliders to Arch Angel turn signs
  
• Removed erroneous scripts from Scissor Lift prop for performance benefit, fewer errors

This event is extremely suitable for anyone spending gold coins. By spending gold coins, you can get into the gold rating and at the end of the event you will receive an excellent package of rewards.
