Greetings! The bulk of this update actually came earlier this month (Sept 14th) over on itch. A few updates that have come since then will also be rolled into this post! I wanted there to be a record of it on the Steam page as I work to expand my presence here - and new updates will all be posted here moving forward!

This update some hotfixes and minor improvements based on the feedback from DD52 and others. hopefully I'll have a big build soon, but until then this should fix most issues.

ADDED
  • Combat Arts now function like Spells, and can be added to the Hot Bar Slot where only Spells used to go.
  • Added Blocked state to enemies. Enemies that can't reach the player will move to the closest available position and wait until a path is opened up.
  • You can finally right click to drink potions from the inventory. This one's for you, PATdev
  • Changing keys in game will update hotkey text. And on the Help page, shortcuts will use currently bound keys instead of default keys
  • Added a new item rarity type, "semirares". Semirares will include Wands, Staffs (Staves?) and Fetish Idols, which were previously considered rare alongside Rings and Amulets. Semirares will drop more often than rares, while rares will drop slightly less often. This is to address the cases of somebody wanting to do a wand build, but just never getting wand drops due to the low droprate. I'll experiment with this and tweak it over time.
  • Added the "end of game" screen at the demo-checkpoint
UPDATED
  • Door width changed. Doors are now slimmer, and enemies can be funneled through them. 2-3 enemies can fit in a door, and the rest will enter a Blocked state
  • Slightly improved door highlight visuals for when the mouse-over part of the door is obstructed by a wall. It will now be properly highlighted.
  • Defense is renamed to Dodge.
  • Changed the way terrain works. This will allow for more lightsources, but it comes at a slight loading time cost on entering new levels. This is very much subject to change, adn can be reverted if the loading times prove too long.
  • Added light source to fireball spell projectiles.
  • Improved two-handed attack animation
  • Evasion now has a visual effect and a sound effect. Normal miss on an enemy with evasion will trigger the evasion visuals
  • Slight UI improvements, including new sliders and small hotbar changes, like being able to click the spell slot to open the spell book
  • Changed the '% to get Mana on hit' modifier to 'Get X Mana every 10th hit'
  • Added an "OK" button to NPCs to end the current dialog
  • Minimap improved to make the player and doors more easily readable
  • New Mimic SFX
FIXED
  • Fixed hotkey text on UI to show symbols (such as =) instead of writing out the symbol( such as "equal sign")
  • Fixed bug with gloves not dropping off the equipment slot if the requirements for wearing them are no longer met
  • Fixed Thrown Weapons always having 0 accuracy
  • Fixed several issues with the Knightslayer weapon
  • Fixed Mimic bumping into Barrels making them disappear
  • Fixed +Resistance potions removing twice the resistance value they gave on expiration
  • Fixed issues with the Always On outline
  • Fixed the Fetish Idol resizing under rare scenarios
  • Fixed Flaming Skulls jaws (their death visuals) leaving holes in the navmesh if the player loaded a save on the same level
  • Many animation fixes/improvements
  • Other minor changes

We wanted to offer you the ability to seamlessly integrate Media Panels into your assets, creating a convincing screen effect. With our latest update, you now have the option to completely hide the borders of the Media Panel. Give it a try!


Also, in response to numerous requests, we've included a highly-requested feature: the ability to pause and resume Media Panel medias using the Play and Stop media nodes. Explore this exciting addition today!

Avatar Recorder
In June, we unveiled the Avatar Recorder, and after extensive feedback and internal testing, we identified a crucial missing piece: lip movement recording.

We are thrilled to announce this exciting enhancement, enabling the Avatar Recorder to capture not only your movements but also your lip sync, allowing you to create the most lifelike and immersive experiences.



Bug Fixes 🐞
  • Fixed an issue where a player wouldn't be able to manipulate an asset correctly using the Transform Gizmo when the Gizmo would be hovering a locked asset.
  • Fixed an issue in the Collections where some Collection name were scrolling in reverse.
  • On the Quest - Fixed a bug where turning the microphone permission on or off while having StellarX opened would not be handled properly.
  • Fixed a problem where Monorail videos were not playing in Play mode.
  • Fixed a big issue where transparency through fade ins or fade outs would not work on imported GLBs and GLTFs.
  • Fixed an issue where undoing or redoing an action in Multiplayer Create would close the Collections panel for all players.

Gameplay
  • Added red, blue, and yellow starfish to possible beach generated shells.
  • There is a counter display now when you are next to mushroom showing how many shrooms in patch vs max amount if left to grow. Max shroom limits adjusted downwards a little to make Mushroom Ally blessing more interesting.
  • Skilled merchant nerfed, bonuses halved. This skill was too much of a no brainer and caused money spike too early in game.
  • Skill fisher, farmer, miner buffed a bit. First level starts with 30% chance instead of 15%. Can be boosted to over 100%, any amount over 100% adds to chance that an additional item is given, eg. 120% = 100% chance for an extra item, 20% for a third. These cards was previously too weak to be considered over skilled merchant.
  • Reduced Healing Bond bonuses from 3 per level to 2 per level.
  • Reduced Support drone health healing amount by 50%, and increased cooldown from 2.5 > 3 seconds at maxed levels.


Bugs
  • Shells on beach did not show the correct sprite sometimes
  • Mushrooms for the season had an equal chance of spawning fixed (now based off rarity)
  • Reduced the range in which player responds to mouse direction so doesn’t always turn to face when mouse is relatively far away from player.
  • Removed particle effects from pixies (except Pixie Friend), may help with performance.
  • Toned down brightness in Aamy’s bathroom
  • Fixed dungeon boss and enemies stuck on death stage


Known Issues:
  • Pet can stop at base of penguin post when leaving
  • Raining in greenhouse
  • Caterpillars spawning in sky tiles
  • HP bar doesn’t fill up even at full health after Max HP change

Check out Reality Break in SHMUP Fest

I am excited to include Reality Break in this year's SHMUP Fest, and I hope you check out the Reality Break Demo! Over the past few weeks, I've implemented a ton of quality of life features based on player requests, including but not limited to:
  • New Option: Multi-Loot. It is now possible to hold down the Interact button on both gamepad and mouse+keyboard to hoover up all nearby loot. The Option dialog has a new entry under the Input category that allows you to select the multi-loot speed, which affects both the repeat interval as well as the initial delay.
  • New Option: Screen Edge Ability Effects. This setting toggles whether certain powerful skills show effects on the edges of the screen while charged or activated.
  • Made the game UI respect aspect ratios taller than 16:9, such as 16:10 and others.
  • Improved positioning of certain UIs on ultrawide aspect ratios.
  • Reworked collision damage, which is now in large part mitigated by ship survivability stats such as Armor and Shields. The guaranteed damage taken, based on a percentage of ship health, has been reduced to a maximum of 25%.
  • Increased visible play area by about 20%, and made enemies not aggro unless they are at least 15% of the way in from the edges of the screen (up from 5%).
  • Moved all ambient-only asteroids farther away from the plane of gameplay, and reduced the intensity of visuals for ambient asteroids on Haze maps so that they don't look collidable.
  • Improved the visibility of the aiming cursor in mouse+keyboard mode. It is larger and brighter, with an extra highlight as well as contrasting background.
  • Made several early campaign mission maps 10%-20% more compact, with slightly higher enemy density. (Courtney's note: I want to speed up the first Cycle slightly so that players can get to the good stuff faster, and this is the first step toward that goal.)
  • Added a new option to control the visibility of damage flyouts: All, Crits, or None.
  • Implemented Inventory Sort Modes. There's a second button next to the Sort button that allows you to cycle through the following sort modes: Overall Upgrade (current default), Damage, Survival, Type, Rarity, Scrap, and Rewrite.
  • The Area Scan now also shows dropped loot, fate pulses, and credits.
  • Weapon and Drone tooltips now show their damage range and rate of fire.
  • Added first pass at an Info Readout in the upper-right corner. It shows a variety of info, such as the current sector, map level, difficulty level, and actual time.
  • Added an option to control Game Cursor Size.
  • Added an option to control visibility of enemy health bars. They can be set to show always, show never, or the previous default of showing when an enemy is damaged.
  • Added an option to control visibility of the laser sight. It can be set to show always, show never, or the previous default of showing it while in combat or for some time after firing weapons.
  • Added an option for mouse & keyboard to allow toggling Auto-Fire Primary Weapon rather than needing to hold the input binding to autofire.
  • Added support for alt-cycling Equip Compare through all equipped Drones and added it to rebinding menu. The default is Alt.
  • Added support for various ways of dropping a picked-up skill without having to slot it, drag it out of the pilot dialog, or close the pilot dialog.
  • Exposed alternate MMB binding for Rewrite. (Courtney's note: this has always been in the game, it just wasn't visible.)
  • Added new "Rewrite" inventory sort mode, which sorts in the order "can afford at least one rewrite", "cannot afford any rewrites", "all rewrites maxed", "not rewritable".
I am excited to keep making substantial improvements to Reality Break, with community feedback at the top of my priority list. This is just the beginning -- now that I've gotten through dozens of bug fixes, balance changes, and performance improvements in addition to the above QoL changes, I will increase the amount of new content I add to the game.

H-Hour: World's Elite - RosieRascal
Removal of H-Hour from the Steam Store

Hello everyone! Just letting you all know the Studio has asked Steam to remove H-Hour and its saleable DLC from the store effective Friday, 29 September 2023. This will not affect those who already own the game. You will continue to be able to download content from Steam as needed and play H-Hour as usual.

This decision was not made lightly. The original Studio plans included seeking out serious investors to rebuild and update the game further and take it to other platforms. However with the economic situation world-wide this never materialised. As the game has aged, interest has also lessened and sales have not covered Studio operational and infrastructure costs for some time now. As a result, the owners met and agreed to cease operations. Rather than leave the game up without support of any kind, they decided to remove the game from the store as well.

The Studio asked that I pass along their appreciation to the H-Hour community for their help and support throughout the development, release and post-release periods of the game. H-Hour could not have existed without this community, the volunteer developers and the dedicated players so thank you!


Accessing Community Support

Though official support will no longer be available, there is a group of dedicated players who have opened a discord server for H-Hour: World's Elite. Within you will find support for the game from the broader community, a place to organise play times, vote on maps for their servers and just hang out. I encourage current owners to join the linked community based discord.

We acted on some suggestions you made and significantly reduced the price of the game so if you are interested, grab the game now! We also released our server files to all game owners and will post an instruction guide in the Community Hub soon.
