Welcome to the latest installment of our development diary! In this devlog, we're diving deep into one of the most exciting puzzle elements we've introduced in our ToyZone—the Bouncy Football. If you're familiar with our Boulder element, you'll find some intriguing similarities and a few exciting differences. You can revisit our blog on the Boulder element here for a quick refresher. So, grab a seat, and let's bounce right into it!

Much like the Boulder, the Bouncy Football serves multiple purposes within our game world. Players can use it to block pathways, drag it around, and even use it as a platform for reaching higher places or activating buttons to advance in the game. However, the key distinction lies in its physics. Not only did we design the Bouncy Football to complement the ToyZone's aesthetics, but we also made sure it presented a unique challenge for both our players and us as developers.

The Bouncy Football lives up to its name with physics that keep you on your toes. It's lightweight and, well, bouncy, making it quite a challenge to control precisely. Players must act swiftly, timing their jumps just right to hop aboard before the ball rolls off or takes an unexpected tumble. This dynamic adds a thrilling fast-paced element to the gameplay that keeps everyone on their toes.





To achieve this bouncy behavior, we adjusted the physics material's 'Bounciness' parameter to 0.6, fine-tuning both dynamic and static friction to get the feel just right. However, creating this playful physics experience required more than simple parameter tweaks. We had to implement additional checks and constraints in our code to ensure the physics remained manageable. By carefully clamping the velocity and position of the Bouncy Football within certain bounds, we maintained control over its behavior, even with relatively low solver iterations to optimize performance.


The Bouncy Football has been an exciting addition to our ToyZone, and we can't wait for you to experience it firsthand. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes looks, exciting reveals, and game development insights as we continue to work on crafting an unforgettable gaming experience.

Hi, offroad maniacs!

We are continuing to introduce more fixes to remove outstanding issues from your experience. Today we are back with another patch, first of all addressing A key problem.

Today we resolved the keyboard issue for the two next languages you have reported to be suffering from. After the update, all players using their native Ukrainian and Finnish keyboard layouts will be able to use the A button without the need to bind it to a different diacritic symbol.

The other issue we're addressing in this patch is related to editing the chassis of your cars. Some players have found themselves unable to put shock absorbers in their proper place, which made modifying the car harder. We have located and amended the issue, so the garage work should be hassle-free now.

Please note: We are still working on the issue of parts being missing from the assembly mode selection menu, but still being present in storage. It is particularly hard to reproduce in a testing environment, and we haven't been able to provide a fix so far. Thank you for sending us saves and logs to help us find the source of the issue. The issue is resolved by reloading the save, so please use this solution until we provide a fix.

Sapphire Safari - Henley
This is a copy of our v017 release post for early adopters over on Itch.

Salutations explorers! Welcome to our next patch for Sapphire Safari! Version 017, just a few days after our massive v016 release.

So unlike our other patches, this one will be short and sweet, so here we go.

AI Eyes and Sightlines
In the last patch, we had to turn off the eyesight for the roaming monster girls on the island, which in turn disabled the stealth mechanics of the game. It added a lot of computation requirements to the game leading to stuttering and just making it unplayable. So this patch includes our new system (instead of using the standing Unreal Engine tech).


Each girl will see roughly 20 meters in front of them, if you hide behind objects they won’t be able to spot you. Making noise like running, stepping on noise makers like twigs and branches, or jumping into vegetation like bushes while near the AI will cause them to look around, if they spot you during this time they will react, and then flee.

No Beacon left behind
We have unlocked and lightly developed the missing area of the plains, which previously held a radio beacon you couldn’t access. This is now available to explore and the beacon can now be activated.


This patch also includes several fixes to AI and UX. Overhauls some of the problems the save system was encountering holding onto map discovery and such. But here is the full changelog.

  • new vision system for girls
  • new area on previously locked-off radio beacon
  • clipping removed on some rocks in the plains
  • wind animation added back to some foliage in the plains
  • river barriers now do not block throwable tools
  • save system bugs related to the FOW and Map not loading in are fixed

  • bounty computer UI navigation tweaked
  • notifications for entering and leaving radio beacon zones added
  • photo capture flow bug related to the submission system deactivating on scoring has been fixed
