the playtest of Viking Chef: Feast Frenzy is out now! Come in and test it out.

The last days were very stressful to get the Playtest running, but here it is.
Explore the first recipes from simple salads over cooked fish and delicious stews!
At the start of the playtest there is only the forest scenario available, later in this test there will come the village scenario too.

The playtest is available until 29th of September!

Here's a preview of some changes for The 1.0 Update happening on Monday September 25.

New Captain: The 1.0
  • The hacker known as "The 1.0" can seize control of enemy vessels and turn them into allies, while her ship's cloaking technology allows her to vanish from enemy radar with unparalleled stealth.
  • New Weapon: Hacking Beam

  • Captains have been split into two rows, featuring larger icons to highlight them & making it easier to navigate

  • Display Photosensitivity Warning when the game is loading
  • Reduced number of Super Magnets required to unlock Super Magnet Outpost

We’re happy to bring you another weekly patch of goodies.
Player Requested Enhancements
  • Added a menu command to town/tower to travel between the two places instantly.
  • Added an instant road being built between your tower and town, so on the map it now takes 1hr not 17hr to climb uphill to your destination.
  • Added search with filtering as you type to Knowledge Picker. It was an interesting CS problem to get it to underline substrings. Appreciate the challenge!
  • Quick casting when in a trap encounter now awards spell XP just like in combat
Fixes
  • Corrected remaining issues with dungeon door key generation. If you have a save game with an already generated dungeon with a messed up key, it probably won't fix that. But new dungeons will generate correctly.
  • Fixed dungeon map displaying wrong level when loading save game.
  • Removed weird floaty 240 gold text from game start
  • Roads no longer appear in open water. The bridge building engineers in the open seas have been sacked!
  • Tracks can no longer appear in open water. That was ridiculous!
  • UI overlap of ship captain, mounts, and followers has been fixed. We kinda forgot about all the stuff that can be up there.

Known Issues:
  • We spent several days trying to recreate and resolve loading/saving crashing issues. We rewrote the async functions but to no avail.

Despite being an update about fixing things, most fixes required significant rewrites, so expect hotfixes.

- Added new main menu music theme
- Added Czech localization
- Added proposed fixes to Italian localization

- Replaced BTR-70 with BTR-60 in 120th Guards MRR for authenticity
- US TFs almost completely lacked M2A2 as an option: adjusted 2 TFs to include them instead of redundant options
- Added a separate icon and decal for the Belgian 4th Pantser Infantry Brigade
- Engineering tanks received a minor buff so that a platoon of 3 tanks is equivalent in breaching ability to a platoon of 4 assault engineer squads. M728 CEV and AVRE also made a bit cheaper.

- Platoon panel now has a small red blinking dot near icons of the platoons that are in combat
- You can now see which targets platoons are engaging when holding SHIFT
- Bomb and PGM strikes should now actually ignore helicopters as valid targets
- Fixed instances where AI Artillery won't displace after salvo
- Fixed AI Artillery idling when there are no same-AI groups to support
- Added basic fixes against AI overcrowding in spawn areas
- Adjusted Operation "TF McMains" starting resources to be less stingy

- Fixed (hopefully for certain this time) cases where a platoon will move through impassable terrain (typically, lake)
- Fixed US M577 deploying smoke despite not having smoke launchers
- Fixed small arms fire causing dirt splashes in the air when targeting helicopters
- Fixed minor bugs with suppression calculation
- Fixed unit movement audio not playing after spawn
- Fixed minor waypoint drawing issues
- Fixed AI SAM platoons not reacting to threats when following a combat group
- Fixed TacAid voice reports depending on the presence of targets in the attack zone
- Fixed platoons with lost vehicles endlessly consuming supplies
- Fixed multiple issues with pooling logic, which should slightly improve performance toward the end of long sessions

- Platoon attack logic had a rewrite, though public-facing behavior should remain largely the same

  • Drop all function not appearing for the other player who joined a multiplayer server (thanks for reporting Jenny ♥)
  • "Start a Garden" quest not proceeding to the next stage (thank you Meadow for reporting ♥)
  • Wild creatures completing achievements for the player (thank you Meadow for reporting ♥)
  • Steam achievements not being awarded (thank you for reporting VinchenzoTheJackal, Meadow, Calydor, and Greenfarm ♥)
  • Red Primrose Seed Recipe not appearing in Sariel's shop (thank you Grounded Aura for reporting ♥)

At last, you may be wondering when the fixes will go live. We all hate the "Soon™" answer, but that's all we can say for now.

In order to be released, patches need to be properly QA'd, and currently our QA and code/design teams are also working on some other interesting stuff... Such as a surprise here on Steam and porting Ikonei to other platforms.

Anyway, we promise we are doing our very best to get all that and the 1.0 version in your hands ASAP! And once again, thank you all so much for your support.
