The Dune: Spice Wars 1.0 update has finally landed on Arrakis, and with it has come an absolute plethora of new content, reworks, fixes and more!

The last year and a half has seen multiple updates release, adding tons of content, improvements and more, largely built on the suggestions and feedback of our players. So thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped us build Dune: Spice Wars into what it is today over the course of the Early Access period. We literally couldn't have done it without you!

But with all the sentimental stuff out of the way, let's take a look at what's new in Dune: Spice Wars' 1.0 update...

Main Mechanics:

  • Surrounded neutral villages become Sanctuaries
  • +1 Authority production per Sanctuary on the map
  • Villages around Sanctuaries gain +1 instance of their traits
  • Masterpieces can be built in villages, they are not removed if the village is liberated and destroying them bring huge penalties
  • A single village can become a Garden Resort, which produces knowledge and influence
  • A single military unit can become a Champion. They have increased stats and gain hegemony by killing units of enemy factions (hegemony is lost when the Champion dies)






  • House Ecaz is playable in conquest
  • 4 new missions
  • Huge balancing and rework of all existing missions
  • Rework of conquest flow and resources
  • 5 new common conquest bonuses
  • Heroes are now way stronger and more unique



  • Full rework of the development tree content and shape (almost no development have been kept as it was)
  • Rework of development cost scaling: Development cost is no longer dependent on the order in which they are researched (bye bye T4 rush)

  • Units no longer have Manpower upkeeps
  • Basic non-mechanical units no longer cost Solari
  • Healing non-mechanical units cost Manpower
  • Healing mechanical units cost Solari

  • Units and Villages no longer have Water requirements

  • Removing an infiltration cell now requires launching a spying operation, ‘Cell Search” on the village, followed by investigating the village with a unit
  • A tech unlocks the possibility to put up to 3 infiltration cells in an enemy territory
  • The defender no longer receives a quest to increase assassination upkeep or time
  • Assassination upkeep increases on its own over time
  • Once the assassination has started, agents on counter-intel on the defender’s side slow down the assassination over time
  • Sending an Assassin to your infiltration cell reset the speed of the assassination.

  • Each Sietch can only be pillaged once, ever
  • Pillaged Sietch no longer send raid
  • Pillaged Sietch can no longer trade or be allied with the faction that pillaged them (they can still ally anyone else, with the usual condition)

Concord Chambers, Drone and Kraken reworked

Office of Order, Cerberus, Stealth probe and Executioner reworked

Reworked Machine Scraps. The resource is now called Spaceship Parts, and is more in line with Guild Favor, while still keeping some of its specificity.

  • UHQ are almost instant to install
  • UHQ extension construction is instant
  • New UHQ Extensions
  • New base bonus: +10% speed outside of combat+
  • Reworks: Scavenger, Wrecker, Banshee, Wraith

Gurney Halleck, Duncan Idaho, Iakin Nefud, Piter De Vries, Bannerjee and Lingar Bewt reworked.

  • The 3 base units are unlocked from the start
  • The Elite unit is unlocked at 10k hegemony
  • New Atreides and Smugglers gear
  • Atreides Drone gear have been entirely reworked

  • Fixed brown screen on new games
  • Fixed some memory leaks
  • Fixed wormsign that didn’t show up sometimes when a worm was detected
We really hope you enjoy the 1.0 version of Dune: Spice Wars, it's been an amazing year and a half for us working alongside you all in Early Access and we are incredibly proud of what we've accomplished with the game and excited to continue the journey well beyond the 1.0 update.

Happy Thursday! It's time for an update on how things are moving along with the 1.5 Open Beta. Today we will take a look at a few major improvements we've made since last time, both to the new military-related mechanics but also a number of other aspects of the game.

As a reminder, adapted from dev diary #93:
Update 1 will tentatively launch early next week. By this time the new features should feel a lot more mature, with bugs and missing information / graphics filled in, additional mechanical details closing exploits and providing new optimization challenges, and in general more bells and whistles available to you. While beta testing this update, in addition to feedbacking on what tweaks would make for more fun gameplay, focus especially on balance and UX improvements.

We don't expect 1.5 to go live until sometime in November, so keep that in mind when assessing and feedbacking. We have planned two more 3-week sprints after this update for making additional improvements, fixing bugs and balance issues, and hooking up all the additional graphics our Artisans team is hard at work at.

With that out of the way, let's get into the changes!

The Panic Room. House of secrets - Evanesca


The time for the next zodiac sign is coming: Libra - the first autumn sign, the sign of reason and melancholy. Find the power of Libra!

The beginning of your journey is at the Observatory. Unravel its secrets, go through it and a constellation will appear on the house plan. Next, follow his signs, go through the marked rooms in order in the “night” and “cache” modes. The stars will be your reward - connect them to get the Zodiac decoration.
Hidden Pass - LostQuest
The demo consists of some lore parts and two combats (of course, it isn't the final version). You will be able to hear how the story begins.



Most of the economic mechanics and combat are based on Elyrium. And in the story intro, a player will hear why this mineral is so important.



Furthermore, It will be explained through the prologue how the main faction appeared on Elyrium Bet and what this location hides. The main character of the Prologue will lead the deep expedition and you will be playing for him.




During the expedition, there will be a couple of combats. They will demonstrate the core combat features of Hidden Pass. They are not final, but you are able to see the way of design. We definitely know what we want from combat, but we need some time to improve it after we finish the global part of the game.



But the main concept of combat will stay anyway:
- Battlefield layers. The combat sprawls in 3 separate interactable layers. Every layer contains objects on which characters can move.
- Elyrium Madness. Each used ability brings you closer to death because Elyrium drives you mad. The more this track of Elyrium Madness is filled the higher the damage your abilities cause.
- A player has only 4 active characters during combat, so it is necessary to choose your party carefully.
- Automatons. They are Craftable Combat Units.



All this brings us to a dynamic tactical fight, which is our main focus in combat. We want to give a player a great experience: on the one hand, you should not be bored by long exhausting battles, on the other hand, such battles must be tactically very deep, where a player must think about each move.



Next post we will explain the main global mechanics as, you know, we have 4X Strategy elements in the description.

We’ve introduced all the various districts that make up the village in Pizza Possum, but we haven’t yet talked about it as a whole. This quaint and colourful town with its distinct little neighborhoods has been lovingly handcrafted by our 2 developers over at Cosy Computer. And just like any place in the real world, our fictional village is one that remains unchanged with each run and locations won’t switch when you try getting your next crown.

This allows you to better explore the narrow streets and nooks in hunt for collectibles and the best route to reach Bella, eat their pizza and steal their crown. It'll also come in handy when chasing a new high score, always knowing where to go for the large meals, helping you accumulate as many points as possible. So grab onto your possum hat, and scream and giggle your way through the village streets in hunt for food.
