With the Steam Strategy Fest well and truly over, we're due to turn off access to this alpha version in a couple of days! Thanks to everybody who's played, discussed and shared their thoughts and suggestions 😀

So, what'd we learn from this alpha?

- The stun protection system we implemented is feeling good! Stuns still feel strong when stacked, but not at all overpowered like before.
- The game's feeling stable! Almost no bugs came up.
- The game's performance is in a much better position! Especially compared to the first alpha where we found people racing to get to 0 FPS with their infinite stun builds 😆
- Sniper Tower game design is broken.
- Otherwise, game design is at a decent place. Most players are struggling to get past the wave 80-ish mark (without depending on Sniper Towers), which is about where we want it to be at this stage - considering things like the Salvage System don't exist yet.

Overall a healthy set of positive feedback! Of course we have a lot more to work on moving forward, but it's good to know that our efforts so far have been in the right direction, and that the reality of how things play out are in line with what we've been developing towards.

What's next?

- Expect the current alpha to be switched off in about 3 days from this posting.
- For now we're simply removing the Sniper Tower insta-kill mechanic. That behaviour will be replaced with a 100x damage multiplier.
- We need to fill the shortage of stats and boons to add more variance and dilution to the roll pools, e.g., to prevent people from reaching 1,000% cooldown recovery 😛
- We'll complete a little more content to create more strategic options - particularly around trigger-chance based mechanics.
- There's a significant game design change in the works that we're eager to see everybody get their hands on 😉
- We're planning a limited time beta for the demo in maybe 2-3 months!

It's been a long journey, and clearly there's still a while ahead of us. But it's been great to see the game being received well in its current form. It's still going to get a lot better 😀 ⚡

We see you tirelessly battling Nanos in the Meridian, and so we've been working tirelessly through the weekend to resolve as many bugs and issues as we can in order to keep you in the fight! Please check the following list for details on what our latest update addresses:


Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where pressing ESC in the Steam payment interface would cause the game to freeze.

  • Resolved an issue where the game would not proceed to the next level after the post-match interface in certain situations.

  • Resolved an issue where the Discord Nitro event was not displayed correctly in the game build downloaded from the offcial website.

  • Resolved an issue where players in certain regions were not receiving rewards after purchasing DLC from the Epic Store.

  • Resolved an issue where the in-game currency exchange interface did not display in a timely manner for players with insufficient BP currency.

  • Resolved an issue where players using the AZERTY keyboard layout would be unable to proceed in the tutorial.

  • Fixed a bug where a Runner's face might display abnormally when exiting the Codex interface.

  • Fixed an issue where fruit dropped from the Nano tree might explode in mid air.

  • Fixed an issue where conditions were incorrectly judged in the mission "Defeat the Tyrant without destroying any gas tumors".

  • Fixed an issue where conditions were incorrectly judged in the mission "Bull in a China Shop".

  • Amended incorrect item names in the Battle Pass.

  • Fixed an issue where the weapon skin for the shotgun Funhouse was not displayed correctly.

  • Fixed an issue where some players using lower-performance graphics cards experienced an abnormal display when switching to high graphics settings.

  • Fixed a problem with screen flickering on NVIDIA 40 Series graphics cards.

  • Resolved additional technical issues that could lead to crashes in some scenarios.

  • Fixed some localization issues.



Optimizations:
  • Removed the display of frame-rate and ping by default, as this information is not required by all players. This can be turned on again through the settings menu.

  • When Steam overlay is not enabled, added a prompt to remind the player to enable this layout in Steam.

  • Optimized the length of time a black screen is displayed after opening the game.

Hi! An announcement to remind you that tomorrow, I'll show some exclusive content to the Save & Sound event here on Steam at 12PM PDT. I recorded a video game concert little session for the occasion!

Because what happened since the last demo I released two years ago and a failed Kickstarter?

Well, in 2020/2021 I decided to shelve the dev of the game for a while, focusing on other kind of job, developing some audio plugins extensions in LUA, blablabla...

And in 2022, Epic announced that I had a Megagrant to help me work on the game!

The concert

The thing is that I really wanted to create an whole experience with this game, so I decided to develop a different version of it, which I would control with electronic music hardware for a live video game concert!
I worked on it for a bit more than 6 months, and I played it in May 2023, at the Stunfest festival in France. It was so cool! What I want, is to propose a game-album and the concert belonging to it.

What about the game?

If you reading this, that's because you just discovered the game or you're interested since I released the demo.
The demo is outdated, there are mentions of the Kickstarter, which failed. I worked on the game content but not so much, as I developed the concert. I worked mainly on the main system, to optimize it and facilitate development.
I just started to change the whole audio system, as I'll work with Unreal Engine 5 and Metasound, and this will be so fun!
I still have a lot to do to change the audio system and I also have to work on a lot of content.

I'm not sure of any release date for the moment, I have a family to take care of, and I have some other projects during this year. Teaching, making experimental video games with dance companies, I'm also the president of the House of Video Games here in Rennes (France) which is a super cool place for people to work, talk about and share gaming/dev experiences.

I believe I'll have a final version during 2024.

I'll keep you in touch, and meanwhile I'll try to tour with this fun concert.

・The hologram that appears when approaching a door has been corrected.
・If a character moves an area while drawing, the drawing of the object is fixed.
・When an object is grabbed and changes to a ball, the object is released from the grip.
