Public playtesting has started, and access will be granted in small increments. The game will improve based on player feedback during this period. The bug reporting UI has also been added to efficiently report bugs or suggest feedback in-game.
Bug Reporting/Feedback UI
New bug reporting UI where you can suggest feedback or report bugs.
Public Playtesting
I expect public playtesting to last at least a few months, provided it is constructive towards improving the game, and it will be the last step before early-access. The intent is to use feedback to make the right improvements / bug fixes to the game.
Before You Playtest
PC Requirements: You must have a GPU with at least 1GB of dedicated VRAM, otherwise the game will probably crash while starting a game.
What is the current state of the Game?
- Multiplayer is disabled for the until it's playable. - There are currently 93 known bugs, none of are known to crash the game, but that may change. - Some special abilities may not work in some scenarios (i.e. raze colony / peacekeeping). - Ship modules may not be 100% balanced. - If the game randomly stops responding to input, saving and reloading the game will likely fix it, but this should not happen often. - Switching scenes between main menu and game constantly may cause thought provoking bugs to occur. - Save the game may result in corrupted saves due to unaccounted for serialization issues, later in the game. - The 'Cobalt' UI apparently does not go well with the game, so it's experimentally a cyan background colour. - The animated combat needs a lot more polishing, although there have been improvements since the last trailer. - Player leaders are placeholders, and will hopefully be improved in the near future, although getting multiplayer to work is a higher priority. - Tips are being improved to be more beginner friendly, so feedback on tips would be helpful.
TL;DR Overall, the game should be playable to the end-game years, although timing/pacing tweaks may be needed since the end-game has little playtesting. Expect bugs although they will be fixed eventually. Getting the core gameplay right and is the main priority for now.
What can I give feedback on?
Here are some questions that you can give feedback on. Note that feedback is optional, but it will help inform future updates into improving the game.
Questions: - Do you know how to play the game based on the tutorial? - Does the game feel fun to play once you know what to do? - What is the your favourite mechanic, and why? - What is the mechanic that needs the most improvement, and why?
Changes may be made based on feedback to further improve the game.
Where can I give feedback?
The preferred method is via the game 'Report Bug' button in the game pause menu, via Steam discussions, or via Discord.
How can I join the playtest?
Via the Steam store page. Access will be granted in small increments.
Hello, Astro Colony explorers! Just a quick update about the work in progress over the last few months, after the Architecture Update!
As you may already know, and as I have mentioned dozens of times, I am working on the dedicated server, which is the next major update!
When can you expect a new update?
9th of October 23rd of October
The dedicated update was basically ready this month, but I decided to push development to another level, transitioning to Unreal Engine 5! The new version of the engine gives new ways to solve existing issues like world origin rebasing, with which multiplayer has had tons of problems in the past.
What are the upcoming features?
There are plenty of changes and improvements in stability and QOL. Let me just share some of the upcoming changes:
independent chunk creation, so each player can explore and discover new planets. Depending on how far away the generated planet is, it will appear on the map. All planets modified by other players will also appear.
asteroids for every player - when generating asteroids, the location of each player is checked, so each player has asteroids around him
players assigned to their Steam accounts - each player is recognized by its unique Steam ID, so each time you re-join the game, your progress will be automatically restored.
each player is visible on the map
screen player markers have nicknames, so you know where your friends are
game simulation running on a dedicated server, so you can join mid-game and your progress is synchronized. You can also rejoin if you lose connection without losing progress
loading savegames on dedicated server - both single player and legacy multiplayer are compatible!
in game chat
multiplayer blueprint & vehicle designer
multiplayer cosmic events - black holes, stargates
travel to parallel universe with your space station
If you have friends with whom you would like to play multiplayer, tell them that the game is now at a 25% discount, if they want to get acquainted in the meantime :)
The Final Shape has been revealed and the Witness’s plans have almost been brought to fruition. This is the hardest challenge you have faced yet, but you won't be alone. Ikora Rey, Commander Zavala, and even a mysteriously returned Cayde-6 will be at your side, ready to walk a path of remembrance and discovery through The Pale Heart of the Traveler itself.
The main story of The Final Shape will be told throughout the course of its campaign, which you will be able to complete with increased difficulty and rewards in the Legendary campaign. Players will explore the familiar yet unsettling panoramas of The Pale Heart, the first linear destination in Destiny 2.
When the campaign has been completed, there's plenty more coming. In the new raid, Guardians will confront the Witness head on and try to break its hold on The Pale Heart. But even that might not be enough... the culmination of the Light and Darkness Saga is upon us, and all Guardians must answer the call if we want to overcome The Final Shape and the Witness once and for all.
The time has come, Guardians. Rally the Vanguard, raise your Light, wield your Darkness, and become legend.

What??? But it's only been two weeks since the last update!!!
Well I have been working hard in response to your feedback and here is what I've changed.
Instructions Bar! - A relatively unobtrusive way of telling you what to do. It's a really simple game guys. You literally just shoot things.
Steam Achievements! - Yes! Thank you to that thread on the Discussions page.
Balancing the Ky Fragment - I changed the way the scaling works and now it's way better.
Lv.500+ Unlocked! - Go ahead and play as much as you like. Or don't. Because there's nothing there yet. Unless you want to. But you probably dont haha. unless...?
Your Save Data Is Safe - Just trust me and don't ask about it. it's perfectly safe. This time.
Anyway, I'm still working on it. Thank you guys so much for all your feedback, and thanks for playing! I hope you enjoy these changes as much as I enjoyed making it. :D
Welcome back to Camena. OXENFREE II's 1.4 patch is now live and thanks to your feedback and help, we fixed a few things in this version of the game:
Improved Jacob's walking, traversal, and conversation.
More stable walkie talkie conversations.
Resolved crashing or blockers at the Community Center, Garland, General Store, Funnie's Family Market, Copper Creek Trail, Berenson Creek, caves, mines, and end game content.
So many more minor fixes that we can’t list them all!
Loop back and if your return trip is smooth, leave us a five star Steam review and tell us what you liked. If you run into any other issues, give us a shout at our customer support portal. You can do this, Ryebread -- you’re more capable than you think.
