Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront - Herr Flick

Are you a strategy lover? If so, this is a great week for you! The Steam Strategy Fest is on, which “celebrates the spirit of out-thinking your opponents or planning ahead to achieve success” which, quite frankly, sounds like our community!
Whether you prefer singleplayer or multiplayer does not matter a lot, Call to Arms - Gates of Hell offers it all and they are equally unique.
The fact that Steam celebrates this “with discounts and demos on current and upcoming strategy games of all kinds” makes for a great opportunity, so don’t miss this shot!

Strategy
Given the fact that Call to Arms - Gates of Hell offers 3rd and 1st person views, how did we even get a slot in strategy fest 2023? Well, as anyone in the rapidly growing Gates of Hell community knows, both strategy and tactics are dominant factors and you’d get immersed anyway, even without the 1st and 3rd person views.
The strategic factor simply outweighs the fact that you have all these unique mechanics in Call to Arms - Gates of Hell. This becomes very apparent when you are in “Conquest”, the game mode that lets you research and select your own army, followed by their deployment in action, using your own tactics in battle and creating endless tailormade campaigns.
During campaign battles, you go from planning to execution. You can freely and instantly switch between views, using every bit of tactical experience you have to execute your very own strategy!

Realism
Besides strategy, the other factor that makes every battle unique is realism and historical accuracy. The environments are exact recreations of the real ww2 battlefields, which - among others - means that real life tactics work as they should, in this game. This really adds a layer.
Other big factors are the realism in ballistics, armor, supply chains, the modeling of internal components on vehicles and many more mechanics that make it a very rich game with many layers to it, plus the replay value is endless.

Modes
In Call to Arms - Gates of Hell you can choose between game modes for singleplayer and multiplayer;
  • Single Player scripted campaigns
  • Single player dynamic campaigns
  • Co-op dynamic campaigns
  • Co-op skirmishes and missions
  • Player versus player

As mentioned before, Call to Arms - Gates of Hell offers 1st and 3rd person views. These are instantly switchable views whereas you can also play everything top- down if you like.
Tanks and large weapons have the option for switching to 1st person view, just like a couple of infantry units like snipers and officers. Regular infantry allows you to switch from top- down to 3rd person with just 1 key.

We Stay Behind just reached its base funding goal on Kickstarter! We're incredibly thankful that our backers trust us and support our project! The hunt for stretch goals has just started, and you can help us get there. The game is in the final stages of development, but additional funding helps add more content and allows us to include you and your ideas.

If we hit our first Stretch Goal of 29,000€, we will add the Hiking DLC. With that DLC, we will add beautiful hiking trails to the game. You explore the national park with a hiking map, wander around stunning trails through nature, and find beautiful, relaxing places to take a break and rest. Sovereign Tea - 3 Halves Games

We have a pretty significant update to Sovereign Tea that should be of interest to fans old and new alike. The game is now 70% off for one week as part of the Steam Strategy Fest! First, the patch notes:

Features
  • Added "Level 14.5" to specifically teach Mint and Endosymbiont interaction prior to Levels 15 and 16.
  • Completely rewrote post-Level 09 Fort Steep dialogue between Silver Needle and Genmaicha.
  • Minor tweaks to post-Level 09 Fort Steep dialogue between Bai Mudan and Silver Needle.
  • Minor tweaks to post-Level 13 Fort Steep dialogue between Silver Needle and Genmaicha.
Gameplay
  • Adjusted BGM in Level 25 to hit dynamic loop at an earlier point.
Bugfixes
  • Fixed a softlock condition involving the Brew Experimentation while a Compendium entry is open.
  • Fixed a typo in a post-Level 20 Fort Steep dialogue between Dragon Well and Earl Grey.

This has a surprising change in that we willingly changed one of the earlier dialogues involving Genmaicha. Genmaicha was always a character defined by her edges, amplified by the devastation she personally suffered at the hands of the Coffee Empire. On replay, years out, there was one dialogue that stood out to me as lacking, which was the post-Level 09 Fort Steep dialogue between her and Silver Needle. This is a dialogue that plays immediately after the Matcha letter scene, so in hindsight, it was unusual for Genmaicha to be so confrontational in this instance.

Thanks to this dialogue change, some later dialogues needed very minor edits to help improve cohesiveness. I hope you go back and give Genmaicha another chance, and I hope this story change, minor though it may be, helps you understand more about what's going on between her and the rest of the Tea Realms.

Finally, the new level of the game, Level 14.5 technically, exists to solve a problem we believed exists with the game's design. You see, we designed Level 15 and Level 16, the final two Green Tea levels, around understanding this big, new unit: Endosymbiont. We also designed them around understanding how to interface Endosymbiont with Mint's abilities. However, we never explained or showcased this explicitly.

Broadly, this is true for the whole game: you can brew a brand new Tea Minion and not know anything about how it works. We have considered, for the sake for clarity, adding mini-tutorial levels, levels you are meant to beat in just one turn, to all units, just to showcase how they behave. For now, we added one just for Endosymbiont, because understanding that unit is critical for seeing how to quickly and efficiently get through the next levels.

We hope you enjoy this update! And we hope to see you across our socials too:

Beasts of Steel - valentin56610
Eighth update, more than a week into the launch of the steam page, not a day has passed where I would not release an update!

ADDED:
● You can now press the 'T' (shortcut for chat) when a new message is received and the chat panel pops in to quickly answer without having to 'escape' and 'T' your way back in...

CHANGED:
● Increased AI burst fire when using anti air (to 3 shots max).
● Smoothed out the sides of the texture of craters.
● Improved look of craters in Winter.

FIXED:
● One internal error with grenades that would go 'missing' and would never be removed from the list of grenades, creating an endless flow of errors in the console, potentially impacting performances.
● Potentially fixed the white square in the killfeed (very rare bug) that I think happened when a player got killed after the explosion of a vehicle.
If it is not fixed, I should now have the tools/means to debug it anyway the next time it happens!
● Black screen of death in a VERY specific case: Starting the ADS procedure, dying in the meantime, being blown up by a bomb, but a second explosion happened right after the first one.
VERY specific, but it's fixed!
● Black screen of death in another very specific case: Your tank being killed while you are playing in FPS and in the middle of the animation of peeking in/out. FIXED.
● You could spawn and glitch through dead / empty ground vehicles if they had been killed/destroyed/abandonned on their spawnpoint.
● Probably fixed the 'big circle of mud' visual glitch with ground vehicles when spawning sometimes. Those who understand know what I am referring to.
● American vehicles wheels material / texture was a little glowy in the dark/shadows.
● AI (infantry) sometimes could get stuck after fleeing.

REMOVED:
● Nothing.

New Enemy Types
We introduced two new enemy types. This will improve the late game difficulty and leads to the use of more different turrets. These enemies can also appear from the start, once you start on higher difficulties.
Armor
Enemies with armor take 60% reduced damage through normal attacks. To be able to penetrate the armor more efficiently, you need to equip the right upgrades. You can spot these enemies by their bronze shield bar and you can spot upcoming armor waves by the bronze color of the formation icon.
Shield
Enemies with shields can only have one of their shield bars broken at a time, no matter how strong the attack. Upcoming waves with shield enemies will have their formation coloured in blue. Monsters of that wave have a second blue healthbar. Equip items to increase the number of shield bars you can break.

New Items
We introduced two new items, to help you combat the new enemy types.
Armor Damage

Equipping turrets with this item, increases their damage against armor.
Shield Damage

Equipping turrets with this item, allows you to break multiple shield bars at once. One shield bar per 100%.

New Targeting System
We improved the targeting system available to you. You can now no longer only switch between two options, but target specific enemies to pick out the most threatening target.

General Improvements
  • Changed how points are spent in the stage selection screen to have a more realistic difficulty scaling
  • Selected turret/abilities are now highlighted
  • Turrets not affordable are greyed out
  • Increased zoom range to be able to view the whole map at once
  • Improved tutorial highlighting
  • Mouse camera movement doesn't deselect turret anymore
  • Enemies that are slowed, have their crystals turn blue
  • Added 15 handmade waves that spawn randomly throughout a playthrough

Balancing Changes
  • Selling a turret gives back 50% of the gold spend on upgrades
  • Decreased the gold you get back when selling a base turret to 50% of its cost
  • Items received from lootboxes drop on the lower end of the rarity range
  • Upgrading items now scales with the rarity, lower rarity receive a higher % gain than higher rarities.
  • Buffed late game turrets to be viable around the stage you receive them, even without major upgrades

Bombarding Battery
  • Splash Damage Falloff: 0.75 => 0.85
Digging Defender
  • Damage: 150 => 250
  • Range: 2.5 => 1.5
Missile Matrix
  • Damage: 90 => 400
Plasma Pulse
  • Time to max damage: 25s => 10s
  • Damage: 62 => 60
  • Range: 3.5 => 3

Performance improvements and small bug fixes.
