Hello everyone, it has been a while since we pushed a new demo build, and we would like to apologize for the lack of updates in the probation version as well.
Please understand that working on the demo and the full game as well up the probation, bugs, and balance can be quite overwhelming for our solo-developer Stevie, so we are currently completely focused on the development of the main game right now while also providing you with an updated Demo. We would like to invite everyone to play the demo instead of the probation, since it is the most balanced so far and currently offers the most amount of changes and features. ❤️ We hope you understand the change we made, and we hope you keep playing Heretic's Fork!

👀 New/Important things:
The card in the top slot of the sacrifice area now persists through turns for all characters.
Developer Notes: You cannot add your own card to this slot, it only holds cards that were placed there via an upgrade. This is to ensure that players have the opportunity to use the new cards next turn, if they don’t have enough power charges to do so this round.
Niya Biblyat has been replaced with John Fenriz
Developer Notes: Niya Biblyat has been buffed and is still available in the full game, she has been temporarily swapped out to get some feedback on John Fenriz. John has his own card storage mechanic and starts with more structure slots.
Destroy has now been replaced by “Banish”.
Developer Notes: Players now “Banish” cards instead of destroying them, removing them from the card pool. This was to add more functionality to the “destroy” mechanic, as it was underutilised. (honestly, might still be)
New round reward system.
Developer Notes: Players will have more opportunities to add new cards to their deck from the collection. These upcoming events are displayed next to the round orbs on the right of the screen.
Steam friend highscores appear at the end of runs.
Developer Notes: Highscores can be toggled between “local” and “friends”. Previous highscores will still be available in “local” whereas only highscores obtained from this patch onwards will appear in the “friends” section. “Friends” highscores consist of highscores obtained by your steam friends, showing only the highest score of each user.
New music tracks added by Gates of Chaos.
At the end of a round, players can now choose 2 cards, instead of 1.
A counter showing Sinners punished has been added.
New music playlist system that allows the player to select what tracks will play during gameplay.
Shift + click to store cards has changed to Right-Click.
Shift + click to auto-use actives has changed to Right-Click.
Added an option to use cards on click, instead of needing to drag.

Clone Card can no longer pick the same card twice.

All cards which mention “sacrifice or destroy” have been replaced with “Banish” to reflect the mechanic change.
Changed text that refers to both Towers and Garrisons to“Structures”.
Fixed an issue that caused duplicate cards being added to the deck from the collection.
Recycle card has been buffed to compensate for the new Banish mechanic.
Removed the duplicate credits display in the character select screen and centred the title.
Fixed the Summoner card not giving correct stats.

Fixed an issue that caused the menu to become unresponsive on Day 24.
Changed splash tutorial text to reference structures, banishing cards, and the card in the top slot not discarding between rounds.

Happy Questing, everyone! We are delighted to announce a major new version of Jacob's Quest, brimming with new artwork, face art, new title screen, fixes to the localization and much more. A quick preview of these new updates;

Launching a game is always a hectic time, so I’m happy to finally be able to set some time off on the weekend and write this!
First, thank you to everyone who tried, played, reviewed and, hopefully, found some enjoyment and satisfaction in Overlewd!
I noticed that even with negative recommendations most of you say something positive you found in our title and we’re forever grateful for the attitude. Our art, animation and design departments are excited to deliver you more quality entertainment!
Reading through the reviews and comments I noticed that a lot of you enjoy the core gameplay even if needs further development to really become an experience for you to sink your hours in. We’re super happy to hear that the core concept works and gets you to stay in front of Overlewd.
Having said this, we realize that on PC the requirements are different. We looked at the x2 and auto battle pack as an extra for those who wish to get on the grind and have everything in the game ASAP caring less for story or experience of spending time with the game. Now we see it means something else to PC audience.
Moving forward we will work on optimizing the monetization and how it affects the gaming experience! Will keep you posted!
Windowed mode also turned out to be a turn-off for a lot of you. Good news there – now you can find “windowed mode” setting in the games’ settings. We hope it will make your time with the game less stressful in various environments!
I know in the beginning I said that you enjoyed the battles, but we all know it’s a half-truth. We all played X-Com, we all know 99% miss is pain. Hearing your feedback and crunching some numbers we reworked the chance system, so no triple-miss should occur, especially early game !

A Long Journey to an Uncertain End - Crispy Creative
Hello intergalactic travelers! This year we are part of the Visual Novel Festival! A Long Journey to an Uncertain End is a narrative-heavy game, with an eclectic cast of characters that accompany the player in their adventures through the vast space. While it’s not exactly a visual novel, players that enjoy visual novels will enjoy our space opera game!
What drove us to create a narrative game were the inclusive themes we could explore in a game like this. The diverse crew joining the player in their journey is a great example. All our characters were inspired by people our development team has met in real life. A Long Journey to an Uncertain End is an homage to the diverse people that have influenced our lives: Today, let’s dive into one of the game’s main characters: Aylah Tress.
Aylah was heavily influenced by two people that Creative Director Kylan Coats knew: the first, a friend, former hairstylist, and flamboyant storyteller, and the second, an intimidatingly brilliant former boss. “My former hairstylist, a gay Jewish man from Brooklyn who was in his early 20’s in New York City during the AIDS epidemic, always had some wisdom to share; some response to everything,” says Kylan.
The second person, Kylan’s former boss, was “one of the few mentors I’ve had who really catapulted my personal and professional growth. I’d watch her navigate outright hostile work situations with a degree of empathy and shrewdness I haven’t seen since. Within all of this piercing intellect, there also seemed to be a bit of hippy, flower-power energy from somewhere long ago. This was an ardent, hopeful energy that had stood the test of time somehow.”
Aylah Tress is the first human crewmember to join the player in this Long Journey. Maternal but tough, strong but caring, Aylah is a hopeful advocate for a better world.

A hotfix is now available that should address bugs introduced in Major Update 2. Thank you to everyone on the forums for the reports, and to those on our Discord server who sent in their save files and clips.

Deckweaver: Descent Into Chaos - Get In The Box Studios
Deckweaver: Descent Into Chaos features full Steam Deck support! Throughout the game's development, the Steam Deck was a primary target hardware for us, and we took great care to ensure its optimal performance.
We recommend adjusting the graphics quality in the settings menu from the default "Medium" to "Low". While "Medium" will run at around 30 FPS, selecting "Low" will provide a smoother experience at around 60 FPS.
