With the imminent arrival of the Titans of the Bitverse, the town is in total chaos due to the destruction they can cause. Because the items used for this enchantment are very scarce, it will be available for a limited time. To arms heroes! That there is no time to waste!

Overwatch 2: Invasion is here, and packed with a new hero, a new seasonal Battle Pass, and a new core PvP game mode. We’re also bringing new Invasion Story Missions, a limited-time Co-op Event, and new ways to practice and celebrate your achievements with your favorite heroes. Let’s check out everything that you can expect in the new update!
Introducing new Support hero Illari
Illari is the newest Support Hero to join the ranks in Overwatch 2. What sets Illari apart from other Support heroes is that she has a very damage-focused kit, so that you can heal your team while dominating the opposition.
Her Solar Rifle fires a beam of sunlight that can do powerful burst damage at long-range, or use it to heal allies around you. She can also support her team with a deployable Healing Pylon, granting bursts of health to allies around it. Her Outburst ability will knock enemies back and propel herself out of danger. When you need to turn up the heat, use Captive Sun and fire a massive ball of solar energy. Opponents hit by this ultimate ability will be Sun Struck, making them vulnerable to lethal explosions if they take too much damage.
Unlock Illari immediately when you get the Premium Battle Pass, or wait to unlock her on tier 45 for free. You can also unlock Illari—and all the heroes in Overwatch—with the new Overwatch 2 Complete Hero Collection, now available in the In-Game Shop.
Invasion Story Missions – The next chapter in the Overwatch 2 story
A global invasion has begun, and it’s up to you to answer the call, with Invasion Story Missions! The rogue Omnic group, Null Sector, has begun attacking Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg, using powerful war bots to defeat anything that stands in their way. Winston and his Overwatch strike team are on a mission to stop Null Sector, and they'll need to rely on allies - old and new - to get the job done.
Invasion Story Missions are deep and expansive co-op experiences where a team of four players will work to complete multiple mission objectives across massive maps. You won’t find this kind of teamwork in traditional PvP play. The heroes choices are custom selected for each particular Story Mission as well, and you can challenge yourself with four different levels of difficulty.
Get started today with the Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle, which grants permanent access to the Invasion Story Missions and 1,000 Overwatch Coins, which can be used to purchase the Invasion Premium Battle Pass or more cosmetics for your favorite heroes. New Event – King’s Row: Underworld
Starting today, you can team up in an exciting limited-time co-op event that will further test your skills against the forces of Null Sector. King’s Row is under siege, and you will need to work together with your friends to save the Omnics trapped in the Underworld before Null Sector can get to them. You’ll explore all new parts of the King’s Row map as you work to bring a combat-modified TS-1 push bot online and then escort it to defeat the enemy forces that stand in your way.
This free-to-play co-op event will also have new challenges every week for you to test your skills and earn new rewards. Play King’s Row: Underworld today through September 4.
Take part in non-stop brawls with the new core PvP mode, Flashpoint
Introducing Flashpoint - a brand-new core game mode, which takes a lot of the fun mechanics of our other modes and creates a whole new PvP experience.
Randomized control points, called Flashpoints, unlock different and unique strategies. Each time a Flashpoint is captured, the next immediately unlocks for non-stop action. Capture three before your opponents, and you’ll win the match!
Flashpoint is hosted on two brand new maps, Suravasa and New Junk City. The maps are the largest we’ve built for PvP gameplay and offer tons of striking visuals and nods to Overwatch’s history.
Suravasa in India is an exotic cityscape with gardens, fountains, and lagoons, and you’ll recognize the map’s connections to our existing lore with Zenyatta and Symmetra. New Junk City, the heart of the Junker’s domain in Australia, goes beyond the gates of Junkertown, where you’ll explore new battle arenas and the salvaged Omnium that the Junkers call home.
Flashpoint is available in Quick Play and can be played exclusively in a limited-time arcade mode starting today. It will be added to the Competitive map pool later once you’ve had a chance to familiarize themselves with its nuances.
Also new to Overwatch 2: Invasion
We’re excited to bring a whole new Player Progression system to Overwatch 2. This new player progression system will be able to track your progress and achievements with specific heroes, roles, and game modes, earning all-new badges that celebrate those achievements that will appear with your hero portrait and BattleTag throughout the game.
In addition, you’ll also unlock new rewards, including hero-themed player icons, name cards, and titles that celebrate your progress as a player with your favorite heroes.
We’ve also made new updates to our practice range including all-new practice bots and a new firing range to test your skills with heroes you already play or new ones you want to learn with. Pick from targets or bots, and adjust the distance of your targets and how they move for full skill tests.
This latest update also brings a variety of new hero balance updates to PVP. Notable changes include improving Bastion’s Tactical Grenade to have more impact and shifting the power in Kiriko’s Kunai and Protection Suzu.

TOOLS
(FIX) Hammer sometimes failed to nail the last strike on the nail. (IMPROVE) When striking a nail with a hammer in hand, the hand releases the nail. Nailing is now easier. (FIX) If the last tool is in the left hand, the "Last Tool" action is not active. (IMPROVE) Now, to pick up the last tool in the right hand, you just need to press and hold the “A” button.
FREEZING
(IMPROVE) If a frozen object is attached to another frozen item, the resulting structure remains frozen. This allows for quick construction. Freezing indication is now more apparent. (IMPROVE) To freeze, select the item or hold it in your hand, and then press the Y and B buttons, respectively for the left and right hands.
COPYING CONSTRUCTIONS
(ADD) Any construction can be duplicated. To do this, select the structure with pointers (press and hold the Grab button). A duplication indicator will appear. Once it completes, the structure will be duplicated. All necessary items must be in inventory for duplication. In sandbox mode, duplication is free.
MENU
(ADD) Added hand animation and tactile effects when grabbing the menu. (FIX) Menu grabbing with hands is now correct. (IMPROVE) The pointer for interacting with the menu now operates smoothly without jerking. (ADD) Added a section with hints in the menu. (ADD) Added hints on game mechanics to the level.
INVENTORY
(ADD) Added tactile effects that inform you that an object can be placed in the inventory or taken from the inventory menu if the hand is free. (IMPROVE) Now, to pick up the last item from the inventory in the left hand, simply press and hold the “X” button. (ADD) To transfer all items from a bucket or box to the inventory, carefully bring the container with items to the nape of the neck or to the inventory, and then release it.
POINTER
(ADD) Added a targeting system. When the trigger is pressed, a pointer is activated. It can be used to activate and pick up items at a distance. To pick up an item, aim the pointer at the item and then press the trigger. The selected object highlights and plays a tactile effect. To activate an object, simply point at it.
HANDS
(ADD) If you squeeze the grip and trigger, but there are no items to grab, the hands become fists. (IMPROVE) Changed hand animation in pull object mode.
As we approach the launch date, we're excited to start sharing a series of game videos in the coming weeks. The first video is a comprehensive guide to playing STG Football, designed to introduce you to the game and its mechanics.
It's Update #324! Not quite an orbital disaster but it sounds pretty cool. We've got some awesome improvements, tuning and fixes in this update as well as a reminder about the 5 year anniversary stream too. So -- if you like the pace of updates, please tell a friend, post some feedback and be sure to leave a review!
5 Year Celebration Reminder!
Time flies like a starship, Captains. This month we're celebrating 5 years of Star Traders: Frontiers!
Mark your calendars for TONIGHT, August 10th, 9pm EDT. We'll be live on Twitch with the Trese Brothers (including a special appearance from youngest brother Martin!) for a community hang-out and celebration stream on Twitch: https://twitch.tv/TreseBrothers
What’s the latest on Cyber Knights?
Throughout the last year, we’ve been running Cyber Knights: Flashpoint’s private alpha test for Kickstarter backers, following the same tried-and-true process we used for Star Traders: Frontiers. Now, with a live demo up on the Steam page, we're cranking up to finishing pace and we’re marching toward the Q4 launch pad to release to Steam Early Access, so make sure you’ve wishlisted (and followed!), or join us for behind-the-scenes discussion and development snapshots in our Discord. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1021210/Cyber_Knights_Flashpoint/
Orbital Disaster
When different types of Salvage Rumors start on a system, the local Contacts can gain or lose Influence. Orbital Salvage Rumors that can cause Influence bonuses include those like Orbital Constructions, Abandoned Military Station and others. We have now pushed Orbital Disaster Salvage Rumor correctly into the camp that harm local Contact Influence - a good change to help keep the simulation fair and clear, especially as this is a Rumor that can be bought by aggressive Contacts on their action.
Early UCF Rumors Peace
We have added a rule change to the simulation to further improve the dynamics of the interstellar Rumors during the Early Coalition Era when Contacts attempt to create damaging Rumors. In the simulation in general -- when taking their action, Contacts can attempt to purchase damaging Rumors against other Contacts they hate (example -- Aetaan Char is in the simulation attempting to Civil Unrest the Faen homeworld due to her extreme hatred).
During the Early Coalition Era, there is now a voting mechanism where other Contacts may deny the Rumor action after it has already been paid for. This results in the Rumor not being created and the aggressive Contact losing the Influence they put on the table for the action in the first place. This helps create a relative but fragile time of peace during the Early Coalition Era.
Gear Buffs
Two sets of combat gear -- the Paladin's Chain and Watchdog Whisper -- both have gained buffs to their stats to help push them more into the forefront of their respective categories. In addition, we've added to the respective Attribute bonuses for the Wing gear GAATSO Interlink and Vrax Harness, as it always helps for your Wing pilots to have slightly sharper Attributes along with their Wing-focused traits, gear and Talents.
More Xeno Protections
We're on a bit of a rip making sure xeno don't slaughter early game captains unfairly. We've added another round of protections to prevent xeno rumors from being generated in certain ways that were letting them slip past the existing filter. Even less xeno Rumors should escape the lab in the early game but they are really hard to keep locked up -- so you might still see some!
Other Fixes
We've adjusted the weighting in enemy captain ship designer to reduce the likelihood of Caliga Vindex and Shizari Huntress ships appearing as they were both a little overweight for fairness and pushing other ships into the margins.
Finally, thanks for reporting bugs, typos and all the rest!
v3.3.55 - 8/9/2023
