We've added a new stage: Snow Fields! ❄️ It features a slippery icy floor to give you a new way to play.
We've also added a new option for players on lower-end PCs: you can now disable full 3D backgrounds and replace them with a 2D screenshot to save on performance! We care a huge amount about the feedback we get from players, and we know that performance has been a struggle for some. We hope that this helps! 🙂
Other changes:
Small enhancements:
Added match time limit option
Improved Low Quality performance by removing some unneeded visual effects like bloom
Reorganized the Settings menu into categories
Added option in Editor Preferences: "backspace works as delete"
Bug Fixes - Character editor :
Can't select views when binding bones
Crash due to null preview image when uploading character to Steam Workshop (the menu now prevents continuing with a null image)
Crash due to null reference when refreshing timelines: ":UpdateAnimationTimelineVisuals"
Crash seen when transitioning to/from test play: "GetUpdatedComputeShaderDataStructs"
Crash when using fill tool outside bounds: "PerformFillRecursive"
Eyedropper tool can become unusable after clicking on an empty space (still unsure how this gets triggered)
Fixed typo in Canvas settings tool tip
The "Hide Floor" setting is lost when switching the camera mode
If overriding canvas settings, canvas offset isn't shown correctly during hitstun (can cause player to appear offset into the ground, etc)
Interpolation doesn't work on canvas settings if an animation rig isn't present in the animation
Bug Fixes - Battle:
Hitstun translates over when a player is grabbed (causing them to escape the grab when the hitstun ends)
Moves can cancel into themselves when the "Allow Cancel Into Other Attacks" flag is set (from Erans- qucik fix)
Small patch adjusting and changing things from the initial Crowd Control launch.
- Add/Remove lives should now work! Hooray - You can now spawn Popcorn as a prop again. Nice - Some more spawn prop options were added - Made it so teleporting the player doesn't count against your movement for objectives - Invisible enemies effect now pausing in the overworld - Props will now stay in a level until you exit to the overworld - Made the "All enemies can lob landmines" effect a bit more consistent and meaningful - Made sure the teleport player option actually goes enough of a distance away from the player, so they cannot randomly teleport to the same spot they're already at - Fixed an issue with the lighting and weather
- A podium has been added at the end of a match, displaying the winners (this currently doesn't display them in order of score, but it will eventually). - Music has been added to the main menu - Changed jump pad sound effect - Added a chat box. This will eventually be used for quick chats, but right now it is limited to server messages (e.g. player leave/join). - Ping numbers on the scoreboard are now colored to match connection quality. - More coherent error messages are now displayed if you encounter an error logging in with PlayFab. - Visual changes to jump pads. They now blink slightly aswell as being color matched to their position on the field. - "Scramble Teams" button in the host menu is now enabled.
Movement:
- You can no longer walk on top of each player's heads.
Some players found that jump pads would actually disadvantage them at times, giving an unexpected jump boost they weren't expecting and therefore missing the ball. Jump pads should never be a disadvantage, as they cover the defensive parts of the map to allow for blocking of clears or saves. The following changes have been made to address this:
- Jump pads now give extra jump hold time instead of base velocity. Now, when starting a jump on a jump pad you can hold space for up to 600ms to go further, allowing for more granular control.
- You can now crouch. New animations have been added to support this.
Bug fixes: - Goal distance now shows correctly - Saves should now track correctly and award points. - Fixed XP not being awarded correctly at the end of a match. - Many fixes and changes to Discord RPC. It will now show your level correctly, and will refresh when you join a new game, showing the amount of players connected. - Ping numbers no longer display decimals for the host. - Restructured a lot of code and folders internally to streamline updates.

World 2 will feature an all-new world map, new levels, new enemies, and more!
This month, with Paper Perjury being a part of Tiny Teams and Steam Visual Novel Fest, the first half of case 2 has been added to the Demo. The case 2 demo will remain within the demo for the foreseeable future.
For those who haven't played case 1 yet, the case 2 demo is built off the story of case 1 and is highly recommended to play first. The main feature of case 2 is the investigation section and will end once the investigation ends.
After ExileCon 2023, we invited Subtractem to our office to interview Chris Wilson, Managing Director at Grinding Gear Games, and Mark Roberts (Neon), one of the Game Directors of Path of Exile 2. Check out the interview in today's news post!
