I'm happy to announce Outcore's biggest, most important update ever since "The big 2023 update" earlier this year.
Please welcome...
The "Cute animals with clown noses" update!
Finally, after ten thousand years, I've managed to focus ALL player feedback into one singular feature which everyone can enjoy. It took hundreds of the best engineers around the world to develop this, but we managed to overcome the technical difficulties involved in developing such a complex system.
You can finally, look at cute animals with big red clown noses instead of playing Outcore
Look, buddy, I'll be frank with you. The game has like 17k post-release wishlis++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +
+654
Sorry, my cat just landed his abnormally gigantic ass on the keyboard. Here's proof
Anyway, as I was saying, The game has like 17k post-release wishlists. That's 17,000 people who showed interest in the game but haven't played it even though it's free. This is my dream game, and I'm gonna make them play it, you hear me??? The only way to convert them was to pull out the big guns, the forbidden weapon, the illegal Danish: Cute animals.
I could have just let you look at regular cute animals, but then I would have missed the opportunity to subconsciously remind you to buy the clown nose DLCs, which you don't have to but you should definitely remember that they exist and that I hunger for french fries and schnitzel in pita which I can buy using YOUR money.
"Finally, Doctor Shinobi, YOU'VE DONE IT! I no longer have to play your stupid game. I will now proceed to tell ALL MY FRIENDS about Outcore's new awesome update. Next, please add a feature that lets me order hard-boiled eggs directly to my home".
Yeah!!!! Go tell your friends about the update! And have fun, I worked very hard on this update just for you!
Ohhhhhhh.... by the way
I made a new attempt to fix the annoying black screen bug. Hopefully, the bug-fixing editions (and maybe the base one) should fix it for everyone. If you're still getting black screens, let me know on the game's Steam forums or Discord server.
OHHHH, by the way 2.0
I'm working on a new game which I hope to announce sometime between this micro-second and the end of August. Unfortunately, it won't contain cute animals with big red clown noses
Evasion - Stamina consumption reduced by 30% ( 20 => 14 ) Power Attack - Reduced movement speed while charging Power Attack from 75% to 50% / Reduced charge time by 33% ( 0.75s => 0.5s ) Running - Stamina consumption reduced by 30% ( 20/s => 14/s )
It's very exciting for me to announce that Naiad is part of the TinyTeams event with a DEMO during these days! Visit the event page here: tinyteamsfestival2023
Don't miss the chance to follow the event, enjoy offers, play exclusive demos and watch the streaming of many interesting games.
Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to write about your experience and sensations playing Naiad.
These are some of the improvements and news:
Improved controls + Mouse support:
I finally managed to spend some time to extend and improve the controls on PC, which I hope will allow more people to play more comfortably and easily.
- With the new mouse support it is now possible to manage both the menu interface and options, as well as the character control. - Options have been added to switch the keys between two predefined modes (right-handed and left-handed), so you can use the arrow keys or the 'WASD' keys. - The controls screen shows a visual graphic for each control in use, automatically. - The handling of the character has been adjusted to be more agile, without losing the dragging effect of swimming in the water. - When using the keyboard to move the character, a small arrow appears as a guide to help the player better understand the direction.
Interface design:
Taking advantage of all the necessary changes to make mouse interaction with the interface possible, I have also been improving and extending features in the menu screens with new, prettier, more intuitive and optimized elements. All this with the aim of making the game as smooth as possible.
- New screens with elements to discover during the adventure. - Graphics that are painted when changing screen. - A new and better type of buttons. - Interface that warns before finishing each level to allow the player to go back and explore more before going down the river.
More animals, more behaviors:
One of the keys of Naiad is the interaction with the friends that you find in the wildlife and nature. Since the initial concept of the game, there have been many ideas that I would love to include in the game. From additional animals to find to fun puzzles. Some of the new features are:
- New additional animals such as jellyfish, octopus and squid that are fun to swim with, and more!. - Certain animals found on the shore, such as rabbits, can now climb onto medium-sized wooden logs floating in the water and thus be transported in a kind of "mini-boat". - Interaction with frogs has been improved to make it easier for them to follow you. - More animations when certain animals land on a place, such as butterflies on flowers, frogs on water lilies, ...
Music in harmony
- Did you know that Naiad contains over 60 different pieces of music? All of them have been revised to match Naiad's singing during the game. - In addition to the music that can be heard in each of the levels, there are some special melodies to discover and learn to sing.
Thank you so much for playing, supporting and making Naiad possible!
This is just an overview of the new features since the last post. Some of these features were already live prior to this post!
This update also contains a lot of work I've been doing on Chapter 3, which is coming along nicely for Outpost Kingdoms. Be sure to wishlist it if you haven't already!
