DEMoCap (Drag[en]gine Motion Capture) - DragonFauch

This release contains various work to make the basic functionality work well across various test characters.

The main focus of DEMoCap is on creating Motion Capture for humanoid and especially non-humanoid game characters without the chore of existing motion capture solutions. Post-processing is mostly not required since the motion capture is applied in real-time to your game character. You can immediately examine the result and re-take capture sequences until they fit perfectly.

If you have access to VR equipment (HMD, VIVE trackers) you can get started and spare yourself complex camera setups and motion capture suits.

See the DEMoCap Wiki and the Example Characters page for additional information.

Little Hellions - Schadenfreude

STABBY STABBY STABBY!
Professor Onion here, from Torment Labs ~reporting division~ part of the Schadenfreude network.

Today we are proud to announce the reopening of Stabbyland, which was closed for a time after rides were found passing inspection. Although it's rollout will be a step-by-step process ~as many things are in the Underworld~ we hope you enjoy the available attractions for the time being. Attraction. One attraction. You'll love it.

I'm looking for a publisher! Namely to help implement highly requested features, ie online multiplayer. I'm not making any promises but that's the intention. It's a laborious and time consuming process however, so information will become available as things develop! Please bare in mind I must remain relatively straight lipped about it for ~ya know~ legal reasons and stuff.

As for the rest of the update, my primary focus was to make gameplay more readable with various visual cues to help convey what's going. Please provide feedback if there are elements of the game that remain difficult to parse visually!

Patch notes
Content
  • Stabbyland added!
  • New stage, "Clowning Around".
  • Swinging iron maiden trap type added. Jump-on or throw to make it swing around.
Visuals
  • Shape language! Object types share simple shape silhouettes. Players are circles, shielding players are diamonds, and eventually candies will also have a shape (once I settle on one). What's going on should be more interpretable at a glance.
  • Dreadnoodle environment overhaul! Tileset completely revised. Background animations and visual effects added. (This is very close to the final version, the only thing to be added is the rest of the band.)
UI
  • Offscreen players are indicated.
  • Opponent throw direction is indicated upon charging a throw.
  • Visual error addressed where the wrong charge bar color would be displayed occasionally.
Bug reporting
If you encounter a crash, you may report it via a community hub discussion or in #🐛bug-reporting on the Schadenfreude Discord server. Please include a screenshot of the report like the example below or copy & paste the report text.

Keeping up with development
Tune in every Monday & Friday from 4:00-8:00PM MST on https://www.twitch.tv/onionprofessor for LIVE devstreams from the lab. If you'd like a more high level look at development progress, try the Little Hellions Development Roadmap. Finally, if you'd like to participate in Hellions' growing community, you can do so here or in the Schadenfreude Discord server.

Alright, back to the lab again, Bombpig loves you! ~ ❤
The Merchant's Guide to the Kingdom - Nethrom
08/04/2023

This is a large patch which adds a reworked tutorial, crafting update along with some new materials, graphic options including windowed mode, traveling merchants, and more!

User Interface
-Removed the “Common”, “Superior”, “Magic” & “Rare” text from item names that had them.
-Updated the Region Map to reflect new gathering nodes.
-Added Video & Audio Options Menu to Main Menu Screen.
-Removed an unused ‘R&D’ display from some in-world elements.
-Made the ‘Assist’ line thinner.

Functionality
-Completely overhauled the Tutorial steps, flow, rewards, display and functionality.
Developer Note: This is a major rework of the tutorial from the ground up. It includes mostly new verbiage, new assist locations, new objectives in a different order, and much better rewards. We have been successful with our internal testing, but please continue to report bugs should you find any issues with the tutorial! And remember, most bugs will be solved with a game restart, but please still report. Thank you so much!
-Added a new Trading Post location near the player shop.
-Added five different Traveling Merchants who will set up shop at the new Trading Post next to your shop. Each has a chance to show up any morning, and they will stay for 24 hours.
-Removed many crafting recipes.
-Reworked materials needed to craft all remaining crafting recipes.
-Added the following new crafted compounds:
--Charged Cluster
--Lifebar
--Oily Ingot
--Enchanted Berry Bush
--”Million” Thread Count Bundle
--Glowsprig
--Swirling Orb
--Corpse Crystal
--Blood Bloom
--Lightshroud
-Added a new Tailoring Armor Crafting Recipe: Life Armor
-Adjusted pricing for the majority of raw materials and crafted compounds.
-Added the following gathering nodes to coincide with the crafting update:
--Black Cherry Grove
--Heart Pine Grove
--Foxglove Field
--Tidegrass Field
-Updated the zone reveal cutscenes to include the new gathering nodes.
-Limited Merchant Inventory to have a maximum number of items they can carry.
Developer Note: We understand inventory limitations are never fun, but this shouldn’t be so limited that it is problematic. We encourage players to make use of selling, salvaging, their Cache, and mass sales to Traveling Merchants to keep their Merchant inventories under control.
-The Mystic has been moved to a location closer to the player shop.
-Does anyone know who lives in that new tent in Terafell?
-Added the following graphics settings:
--Quality (Ultra, High, Medium, Low, Very Low)
--Screen Mode (Fullscreen, Borderless, Windowed)
--VSync
--Anti-aliasing
--Resolution
-Favor rewards now offer Research Scrolls at more appropriate values.
-Adjusted dungeon loot tables to include materials more appropriately.
-Removed Profession Trades from the game.
Developer Note: We are not happy with how Profession Trades were tying in with many of the newer features and are taking the feature back to the drawing board to find a way to make it fit better within the game. This could be as improved Profession Trades or tied into a different feature.
Added a ‘Center’ button on the Region Map.

Bugs
-Fixed an issue when opening low level loot boxes with only high level heroes would sometimes cause an error.
-Fixed an issue when certain notifications could cause the game not to close the UI overlay.

The Last Flame - Hotloop
  • Trophy Mode has received some upgrades.
    • Keybind "T" is now a on hold.
    • You can now give trophies by middle mouse clicking on a hero (even while not in trophy mode).
    • Hovering over a hero will now display their current XP.
    • It is now harder to "miss drag" a hero while in trophy mode, which would result in giving him a trophy by accident.
    • A few seconds into the preparation phase, the trophy icon will remind the player if there's a potential hero that can be ranked up by using trophies. For instance, if the player has 2 trophies (10 XP), and the hero that is closer to a rank up needs 8 XP, it will notice the player, but if the hero closer to a rank up needs 13 XP, it will not notice the player. Notification UI: The trophy will flash and slightly bounce to notify the player.

  • XP required to rank up has been increased at higher ranks. It now increases exponentially instead of linearly.
    XP required per ranks
    • Before: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100
    • Now : 20, 30, 40, 55, 80, 120, 170, 250, 500
  • Fixed an issue that allowed dropping a hero to cause a bug which would not drop the hero on a hex, and all heroes would not be draggable anymore.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the player to open menus while dragging a hero which would also cause the issue mentioned above.
  • 100+ typos fixed, and improved and more consistent descriptions (more to come).
  • Fixed an issue that caused visual bugs while previewing epic version of rare items.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some items in the enchant panel to be draggable.

And some other small minor fixes!
