That's it for now ! I probably forgot a lot of things !
Tune in for the next major update, where we will visit the kingdom of the Marshmalotts !
This week is update week, and we have a bunch of fixes and improvements in this release!
The headline item is a new feature for Industrial Frontier DLC owners! In the third and final addition of new animals, we bring the gila monster and the tortoise as new animals that roam the arid desert.
These sweet and gentle beasts are non aggressive reptiles that live on the Meier Isles. They are shy wild animals, and will move away if you disturb them. In real life, the gila is venomous and tortoises can bite, and both carry diseases, so don't mess with them in the wild, but in Stormworks, they are chill.
Fixes and improvements include a bunch of useful stuff. We have fixed an issue with aerodynamics where we found a tiny typo that slightly changed how aero forces were applied to vehicles. This small offset probably won't be noticable except for very small vehicles with large aerodynamic forces such as missiles.
Other fixes include improvements to the rockets when fired while moving, a performance fix related to missions spawning in the wrong place, and others. Please see the patch notes below for details.
This is the last creature update we have planned, and we have no further plans to add new animals to the game at the moment.
In other news, we are on the final push for the new DLC and have started work on a trailer. We hope to launch this as an announcement trailer when we announce this new DLC, and we may do a developer questions and answers session at the same time. We will set up a Steam event for this when we are ready!
As always, we are also working on additional minor updates, and major updates.
We look forward to your feedback on this new update!
Much love <3,
The Stormworks Developers

First of all, thank you so much! Without you we couldn’t have advanced with Halls of Torment as we did. Over 500 000 players have played the game and each week more are coming. Your support, your feedback, and your participation in the beta means a lot to us. It allows us to improve the game every day and bring new and interesting content.
Since yesterday, there is the Tiny Teams Event that focuses on small teams just like us. We are having a 20% discount during this event, and if you want to help us, tell your friends about us. But maybe you want to help more tiny teams and explore hidden gems? Visit the Tiny Teams Festival!
Why is this important? The key point is diversity in the games market. Over 95% of all indie games never turn a profit. Small Indie devs often come by with contract work or work full-time jobs in order to finance their game development. If you want to see more games made by people who deeply care about them, browse through the festival and give those devs some of your attention. The organizers stream games 12 hours a day. This is a perfect place to find your next potential purchase.
We’re sure you’ll encounter some very interesting games, only few people have heard about.
After a long wait, here is patch 1.1.0! The game will for now always be classified as Alpha, but if we find that the game is 100% stable, then we will move to a beta! However, here are the changes that occurred in this patch:
BugFix:
Ghosts no longer get stuck
Optimized gameplay and decreased framelag.
Chunk Loading removed, Crashed (This doesn't mean it will lag the game more)
Vulkan and DirectX 11 are no longer supported due to some bugs or crashes
Removed some spots where the player got stuck
Crash on startup fixed
Optimized game code.
Fix no longer falling off the elevator
The German language now displays localizations correctly. (NOTE: It may still have some errors)
Changes:
Ghosts are more visible
Ghosts run faster
Improved player jumping
Faster rendering
Changed some things in the menu.
Added the map (By clicking M)
Bugs we are still aware of:
When the host leaves the session the game crashes or you are kicked from the session.
Languages: Chinese and Greek. They don't show the translation accurately
In short: the game is finally more stable, however if there are other bugs you can report it to us in the appropriate menu (When you click pause)

We are preparing for our 1.0 release and most programming resources are spent on fixing issues and tracking down bugs. One of the most important ones are some rare crashes that may not happen to some players at all, but to others more often. You may have noticed this week we released a lot of small updates. These add more and more logging capabilities to InfraSpace so we can track down all possible sources of issues.
Distribution Center Animation
Last week I introduced you to the Distribution Center idea we had to give you more control over InfraSpace traffic. I'm glad many of you like the idea so much! We are gonna try really hard to get it into the 1.0 update as well. Lasse was already working on the model, now he finished the animations as well:
Collection Center
The counterpart to the distribution center is going to be the collection center. That's why it will look a little similar, but still different. Here is our current art progress on it:
New Map Sneak Peek
We have been working on a new map editor for a while now and in the last weeks Andreas was able to use Sepehr's tools to make a first small test map. This is far from final - more of a test of the capabilities for our internal tests - but now that we got this map running and working, we're hoping that we can start on the official map soon!
Here's the first batch of fixes for the new build! Thank you for playing P&C! Size: 46.8 KBs
Fixes: :swirlies: Fixed crashes on new day calculations during Cat Route :swirlies: Fixed possible crashes when randomizing NPCs for some of the Kingdom's festivities :swirlies: Fixed game freezing when an Auto Save that just got an achievement (namely, the "Route" one) gets loaded :swirlies: Fixed crashes during Tea Parties :swirlies: Fixed Plant Princess getting wrongly selected as the most powerful one during Dragon Princess I's ending :swirlies: Reaching the "Brownie" NPC during Insect Princess' Hive attack event now correctly remove aggressive units around the room
We know it’s been a hot minute since our last devblog, but we come bearing exciting news! Some new parts have been added to RoboCo and we’re sure that they’ll add a spring to your next RoboStep!
What Kinds of Springs Have We Added?
When you think of springs, the first type that comes to mind is probably a standard coil spring that can compress or extend, like the kind you'd find in a ballpoint pen. In RoboCo, we refer to these as linear springs.* Our linear springs come in two sizes - small (1x1x1) and large (3x3x1) -- which can be resized to a length of 1x1x25 and 3x3x25 respectively. Similar to our large piston, the large linear spring takes up more space but is more powerful, capable of higher settings in its Properties panel (more on those later).
We also have a torsion spring. "Torsion" means "twisting" and is also where the term "torque" comes from. A torsion spring is also a coil spring, but with its endpoints set up to twist, store, and release rotational energy. You may recognize these springs as being used in a mousetrap or the mechanism that opens your garage door. In RoboCo, the torsion spring comes in one size (1x1x1) and, unlike our linear springs, it isn’t resizable.
Note that the springs are available right away in the Sandbox, but you will need at least 18 bits (at the time of this writing) to unlock them in the Campaign!
* Note: As the engineering enthusiasts reading this may know, "linear springs" aren't called that because of the linear motion when they compress or extend. They're called that because the coils are of uniform diameter and are a consistent distance apart. So technically these are linear rate compression or extension springs, but we simplified them to keep the name short and distinct.
What Can You Do With Linear Springs?
Now that we’ve gone over what kinds of springs we’ve added, let’s get into the fun stuff, like what players can do with them.
Our two linear springs have three editable properties - spring constant, damper, and resting point.
Spring Constant (aka spring rate or spring coefficient) adjusts the stiffness of the spring. The higher the spring constant, the more force the spring can exert to stay at or return to its resting point, as in Hooke's law.
Going beyond a basic coil spring, RoboCo's springs also have a damper inside them. This makes them more tunable for uses like vehicle suspension. The Damper property adds resistance, which influences how long the spring will oscillate around the resting point before dying down. The higher the number, the more resistance.
Resting Point allows players to choose what resting state the spring will return to when no external forces are applied. There are three resting states players can choose from - compressed, middle, and uncompressed.
What Can You Do With the Torsion Spring?
Our torsion spring has all the same properties as our linear springs plus one extra.
With our torsion springs, you can adjust the starting point in addition to the resting point. The starting point lets the player choose the spring’s initial state when entering Live Mode from Edit Mode. Players can either choose to have the torsion spring start wound, unwound, or in the middle.
We’ve Also Added Suspension Wheels!
Using our new springs, we’ve also added new left and right wheel constructs that give you some basic spring suspension! Suspension can help steady the chassis of your vehicle as it drives over uneven terrain, like when the top of a ramp transitions to a level platform.
Each construct includes a wheel, motor, and spring with some default properties. You may need to tune the properties or placement of the wheel constructs to feel right for your specific vehicle's weight distribution, but the constructs are a great way to get started or save time.
A Cool Application of RoboCo Springs
Need some more inspiration on how to utilize this new part? Our development team has you covered! Just…make sure not to show Bennet Foddy this clip. We don’t know if he’ll get over it.
RoboCo Updates Going Forward!
Want to know more about updates going forward, make sure to tune in next week, when we’ll be sharing our updated release plan going forward! The following week, we’ll also be sharing some incredible images and videos of what the game looks like in VR and give an update as to when players can expect to play RoboCo with their own VR headset.
And that’s it for this week’s devblog! We hope you enjoy playing and experimenting with these new parts. Keep a lookout for more cool things coming soon!
