Another update is here, this time focused on turret balancing and, most importantly, the addition of air units in a preview form - via the Arena game mode (on maps other than Combat Dome).
Feel free to give it a whirl, and please give us your feedback! Here's the complete changelog:

• Added: Gunship as air unit
  
• Added: Fighter as air unit
  
• Added: Dropship as air unit
  
• Added: Bomber as air unit
  
• Added: Air units to Arena game mode (not in Combat Dome)
  
• Added: Support for turret salvo fire (firing and then interval)
  
• Changed: Heavy Turret now built at tech 4

• Reduced: Turret ranges
  
• Fixed: Could cancel production of queued units for enemy team structures
  
• Fixed: Rift Basin did not have all air units in Arena game mode

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Arena game mode will not start when the Nintendo Joy-cons controller is connected to the computer.
  
• Performance drops may be present with over 400 Alien units present in one session.

We hope this update will excite you about the air units that should be coming to Strategy sometime next month!

Time for another look at all things Friends vs Friends. Everything from fan art, to mayor messages, how Baba gets creases out of laundry, big updates, and everything else in-between.

Anyway, today, we're announcing a fun little surprise which will be added in next week...


As we grow and build up Friendtown, it's important we continue to make connections that go beyond our doorstep even while we continue to develop things from the inside.

We've made friends with your friends (who also made friends with our friends and are even friends with friends of friends...still following me?)

So I guess this means we now have ... friends in common. One, in particular, has really helped shape things around here - SMii7Y. We've been so grateful for him spreading the word about Friends vs Friends and sharing his fun with the world that we decided to do something a little bit special.



When you log into Friends vs Friends next week, you'll be gifted a new skin for Moose Salto - the SMii7Y skin! No need for quests or levelling, you can just equip it and see if it makes you as good as SMii7Y. No pressure!

He's certainly left his mark on the world so be sure to tell all your friends. This is just the beginning!

Hey folks, it’s me. The Mayor of Friendtown. We have an absolute emergency on our hands! I think that I *cough cough* caught a cold of some sorts! My life is fading before my ey- oh wait, I had accidentally used Ice Block. Such an honest mistake from an honest Mayor!

I almost feared that I would have to cancel my vacation plans. What do you mean, again, don't you remember my last one got interrupted?! Moose just came back from a break on the island and they sure looked the part with a cool hat and backpack! They said it was the perfect place to go surfing, walk on the beach or contemplate your own existence. These are among my favorite hobbies and I didn't get a chance to do any of them before; I have to go back! I am the Mayor after all, so I can and I will.

Fixed a sprite in the tutorial that wasn't displaying correctly

Today we announce a very interesting test coming to the Public Test Server, this will not be a test of an upcoming update, rather we are going to test an option for community servers, that will largely change the overall gameplay. Your feedback is extremely important during this test, as it will determine the outcome of development in this direction.

IMPORTANT: If the community likes these changes, we plan to make these options only available to community server admins, Official Servers & Supporter Pack owners will not be affected.

1. Removal of the Safe Zone
   
2. Removal of Green Zone Storage

This will mean that players in Green Zones can now PvP, so if a player wants to take advantage of the traders there, it will come at great risk. Now, nowhere will be safe

With the removal of Safe Zone Storage, it will be much more important for players to construct a base, if they plan to make any long term progression. This also means that the majority of a player's progression can be reset by just one raid, completely raising the stakes of the entire game. We plan to expand the functionality of bases in the future, which should further enhance this type of gameplay.

Remember, these changes will only affect community servers, who can create their own additional rules, adjust settings like raid token drop %, and further customize the experience.

The aim of these changes are to place more importance on a players base, and to make players value each individual life more. Now players won’t have a cushion of Safe Zone cash to fall back on. Moreover, this might help extend the overall gameplay loop, as progression will be slower, and can be reset at any time.

Essentially, you would be raising the stakes, making everything that much more rewarding

Your feedback is extremely important in this test, if we get very negative feedback, we will not spend any more development time with this idea, and you will not see this feature in game. But, if we get positive feedback, then we can consider adding these options into the list of community server features.

How to connect to the Public Test Server (PTS):

• Right-click Deadside in your Steam library; click on Properties…;
  
• Choose BETAS, then select the “public_test_server - PTS” branch from the drop-down menu;
  
• Wait for the update to download and launch the game;
  
• Connect to one of the available official PTS servers, which depends on your location.

How to switch back to the live version of the game:

• Right-click Deadside in your Steam library, then click on Properties…;
  
• Choose BETAS, then select the “None” branch from the drop-down menu;
  
• Wait for an update to download and launch the game;
  
• Connect to one of the available official live servers depending on your location.
