Hi everyone, this is my first time announcing my game on Steam and I am so glad to say that Roguenarok will finally be out for the public! With the help from the wonderful community of indie game developers, Roguenarok went through a lot of changes since the launch of the beta version on July 12, 2023.
Thank you all so much for making this possible! ːsteamhappyː
Let's talk techy ːsteamboredː
What will be included on the Demo?
7 Playable Warriors
7 Weapons to select
25+ Items to build
2 Unique Battles, each with their own set of enemies
What are the core feautes of Roguenarok?
Incase you are wondering what are the features Roguenarok will have, here are the list:
Key Features
Adaptive Battlefields: Each run is divided into battles, and in each battle, there are unique enemies that you have to adapt to and strategize against.
Moba-like Ability System: Each warrior has their own unique abilities that are either active or passive.
Stats-Ability Connection: Each ability has an attribute, like physical or arcane damage, and they can be drastically modified by your builds. (Like items, ability upgrades, and etc.).
Dual Wielding: Warriors can wield up to two different or the same weapons at a time.
Dynamic Item Builds: Warriors can buy items and each can grant either a bonus stats or passive. A warrior can collect six items at a time.
Other Features
Auto-Firing: Weapons automatically aims and fires at enemies.
Ability Indicator: Provides a visual representation of where Active Abilities will travel. This makes abilities easier to aim.
Different Biomes: Every battlefield has their own unique biome.
Remappable Controls: Customize your control scheme according to your preferences.
Is there a lore? What happened to the dinosaurs and aliens? Did they become best friends for life?
Unfortunately, they didn't become friends - aliens are all really into smashy smashy biting thingy and the dinosaurs couldn't have it anymore. They need to fight back. It was 65 million years ago, in a land far, far away, the mighty viking dinosaurs roamed the continent called Norsaurus until a rude asteroid kicked them out and brought in some aliens that now parties in their homeland 24/7. Facing extinction, the surviving dinosaurs were forced to seek a fresh start in an uncharted continent called Engsaurus.
That's probably it for now. What are the plans for the future?
I'm really excited to announcement further more details about what Roguenarok will be like on the future but for now I can say that soon it will have:
+7 New Battles
+8 New Warriors
+8 New Weapons
+30 New Items
Controller Support
Steam Achievements
Steam Cloud
And more new cool things!
I really love all of your feedbacks, suggestions and ideas. Hit me up on Twitter or leave a review. Let's make Roguenarok better day by day!
Thank you all so much for reading and I hope you all have a good one!
A mini side note before I fly fly away: Roguenarok Demo will be available to play on the 3rd Week of August. It will contain limited-content and to avoid any tragedies on the Early Access release, I've decided to not include Steam Cloud saves and Achievements in this version. Any in-game progress made with the demo, like unlocked battles and option preferences, will not be carried on in the Early Access Release. But it will be alright though as the demo only contains 2 battles - and maybe (just maybe) I'll have the second battle unlocked as default? (Yeheyy!! ːsteamhappyː)
Weapon QOL improvements update. Temporary Weapon Mod Icons have been generated, a newer system will be introduced in the future with higher-quality images. Weapon mod names have been shortened Weapon mods will spawn new slots under itself instead of at the bottom of the list. This is still a bit funky and doesn't work in certain scenarios but it will be perfected in the future
Added a button to close the quick start guide menu. To reopen it it's in the pause menu
Just a heads-up that that we have a couple more items to fix and polish with Sarco lined up for the next patches. Further bugreports are appreciated.
Features:
* Season and the amount of days into the season listed on the status tab to make it easier to understand why temperatures are trending one way or the other.
Changes:
* Biomes now inform which species can spawn there. This will allow us to tailor each biome more to the species that call it home, and exclude poor spawn spots for the animals. More changes for the spawn flow are planned. * Removed player spawns upperdesert and eastern alpine region. * Added spawns within swamp.
Map:
* Fixed wetness layer on ocean. * Added extra rivers from alpine to swamp. The new rivers might need further polishing, collision/triggers are a bit tricky, feedback welcome. * Overhauled swamp with new watersetup that offers better interaction, fixed various improper collisions, and scattered more grass on the islands.
Tweaks:
* Added Salt Marsh biome as spawn point. * Improved backwards walk Sarcosuchus. * Added a return to spawn point selection button. * Tweaked fading spawn flow. * Reduced max brightness swamp fog. * Grouped raven sound with ambient UI audio setting. * Adjusted various collisions in swamp. * Tweaked damage traces for Sarcosuchus' attacks.
Balance:
* Boosted HP Sarcosuchus.
Performance:
* Significant VRAM optimisation.
Bugfixes:
* Speculative fix for helicopter event. * Fixed edge-case where oxygen would not stop draining while above water. * Adjusted a couple player spawns that placed you in an obstacle. * Fixed glitches with river surface rendering. * Fixed packing for Sarcosuchus. * Fixed a bug where spawning in rivers would fail to start swimming. * Fixed a bug where sarco/dilo couldn't swim to surface in river. * Added fallbacks to handle edge-cases where swim triggers fail.
