Update content for August 2nd: Added keyboard controls

Dear Dr. Chatelet, in order to facilitate you in performing bloodletting and amputation surgeries, and save more patients, we have added keyboard controls.

1、Bloodletting treatment can now be controlled using the space bar on your keyboard for preparation and making the incision;

2、For amputation surgeries, use the A/D keys on your keyboard to control the amputation.

Hello everyone! It’s August. Is that the middle of summer or the end of summer? Anyways…

This month, we have a mixture of bug fixes along with polish and implementation, so it’ll be a more interesting devlog than just “haha bugs”.

🍳 LET US COOK

Cookbook now has a preview of the dish! It’s just a nice touch, I think. The cookbook is one of those UI screens that we made way back when cooking was a point and click experience - you pick a recipe, then you cook it.



Then later on, as the game matured a bit, we swapped it to dropping ingredients in a pot. So the cookbook UI didn’t match what it should’ve been: a reference point.



Now it correctly shows the dish’s taste attributes (handy if you’re going to work part-time at a restaurant!), recipe, icon, description, and 3D model.



Enjoy how the real-time preview is set up in the engine. ✨dramatic lighting✨

🎮 WHICH BUTTON?

Sure, we made the assets for the different keys and mouse buttons, but unless you were playing a console build, there was no way of accurately determining which button set up your plugged-in gamepad was using on the computer.

Paige worked hard to set up all the framework for making it possible, and Zoro brought it to the finish line implementing the dynamic system in existing UI.



Now you can press A, or right face button, or X…whatever makes you happy.

🖼️ SET DRESSING

Another aspect we’ve been working on is having the items you donate to the Cultural Center actually show up.

What a concept, eh? Furniture items are in set rooms.



Items not yet donated will appear as a shadow. As you populate them, I hope you feel satisfaction watching them fill up!



Food items also show up in their display cases.

📬 OTHERS

We also did a bunch of odds and ends. NPC schedule testing was difficult in the past, but not anymore! recursive made a debug tool that shows each NPC’s next action, along with the option to teleport to where they are.



It’ll be easier to troubleshoot what’s going wrong when someone is spawning off in the depths of hell.



The round circle shadow on the ground of dropped items was not graphical enough so it felt a bit uncanny. We fixed this up by giving it a bit of a look overhaul.



Dye icons were something that were never color matched. In fact, I also didn’t update our internal visual guide on which colors are which name. So we took some time this month to clean that database up. Finally, Blush Pink is no longer bright green.

  1. Enemy weights and quantities in each level have been adjusted to avoid being too strong, too weak, or creating lulls.
  2. Enemy reaction speed has been reduced, although it gradually increases as the difficulty rises.
  3. Level duration has been decreased but will extend with increasing difficulty.
  4. Capture points now have a large number of defenders, and capturing them will not be interrupted by enemies. If successful, victory can be achieved in 20 seconds or complete failure may occur.
  5. In defense missions, enemy attack routes are fixed to one direction.
  6. Temporary turrets are now only available for single-turreted tanks; press the spacebar to switch turrets.
  7. Steering speeds have all been significantly increased unless they were intentionally designed to be slow-paced for uniqueness; most tanks should now respond promptly to directional commands.
  8. Adjustments have been made to enhance the sense of impact; this is something you'll need to experience firsthand!

The Raven Squad decided to take advantage of this opportunity to raid the base and weaken the Eagle's forces!

[Participation Requirements and Rewards]
Participation Requirements: Survivors must reach level of 65 or higher and form a team of 3-4 to enter the Judgment Center Special Op. 

Tips: Survivors will face multiple challenges the Eagles are highly experienced in combat and armed with formidable weapons. Thus, it is recommended to have a combat power rating of at least 30,000 and ideally bring a team of four.

Rewards: Completing the challenge will receive enhancement materials, polishing materials, and a large amount of Gold.

[Preparation]
Checking the condition of tactical gear, medical packs, equipment durability, the effects of cooking buffs, and status of drones are all essential.

[Strategy Tutorial Stages]
Stage 1: Steady Progress

After entering the Special Op, survivors need to continuously defeat the guards along the way and advance into the base.
The enemy force in this stage is not too high, so it is recommended for survivors to make steady progress and prioritize maintaining their health.

Stage 2: Rapid Bomb Disposal
After entering the second area, survivors need to disarm the bomb set by the Eagle within 100 seconds! 
The more survivors that enter the bomb disposal area, the faster the bomb can be disarmed. Survivors can use devices to fend off enemy harassment. 
Once the bomb is disarmed, two survivors can collaborate to break the gate and move on to the next area. During this period, team members can swiftly recover their health and get ready to confront the boss.

Stage 3: Install Bombs and Clear Guards
Survivors need to install three bombs and clear the guards. 
Use your drones, devices, and other props to enhance your firepower.

Stage 4: Destroy the Adjudicator Mech
The Judgment Center is heavily guarded, and the newest Adjudicator Mech is stationed there. The Adjudicator Mech can call in a large number of reinforcements and helicopters. Survivors need to make good use of the cover nearby to avoid taking damage from enemy fire.
During the battle, the Adjudicator Mech will randomly target a team member and launch an electromagnetic pulse attack that affects all survivors.
When the mech locks onto a team member, others should quickly destroy the energy shield to interrupt the lock from laser cannon.

There may be a discrepancy between the rank displayed in the game and the rewards granted to some players whose clear times are very close to the cutoff time for a given rank.

The criteria for rewards in Savage Gauntlet are as follows:
Master: Clear time within top 20% of players.
Fighter: Clear time within top 50% of players.


However, some players whose clear times are very close to but did not quite meet the cutoff time are receiving messages incorrectly reporting rewards for the unmet rank within the game. Please be assured that the rewards are being distributed properly in accordance with the actual cutoff times for each rank, and all players are receiving the rewards that they have earned.
