First of all, we want to thank you for the continuous feedback we are getting on DRIFT21/CE. We have been looking at it closely to bring fixes, improvements, and new content as we reasonably can. After the release of DRIFTCE on consoles we were able to bring the Haruna track to Steam as well as a set of optimizations and bug fixes.
Now that we are at the same point on all platforms we want to disclose a roadmap of potential updates for the game. Please, note this roadmap is not set in stone. While we are already working in all these areas, dates and content may vary depending on the development process and player feedback.
AUGUST – Summer Trip Free Update
It’s vacation time! And you’ll need some extra storage room to drive your stuff to your summer retreat. Get your trailer, install your roof box and learn how to drift with it in a series of challenges.
OCTOBER – Steam Deck and Driving Wheels Free Update
This will be a technical update to fulfill the Steam community request to optimize the game for the Steam deck and include additional Driving Wheel support.

To ease communication through all current (and maybe future) platforms we are planning to re-brand the Steam Game as DRIFTCE (DRIFT Challenger Edition) in an effort to keep as much parity as possible. This shall not affect players’ progress as we will just update the game name on the Steam library, art on the store and-in game logos.
As we advance through the year, we will be able to provide additional information on the upcoming content.
So technically this is 1.2 but while I was putting it all up, I realised there was a game breaking bug, I then panicked and fixed it, I apologise if you got the 1.2 version and experienced the bug. Anyway this is an exciting patch with a bunch cool of updates. Chaos Levels Have been introduced, meaning that there are more difficult challenges ahead. Altered the starting cards so they start slightly stronger, but don't upgrade as well. Sustained Attack has been altered slightly. A lot of improvements to the Boosts, some of them were too weak and were in need of a big upgrade. You can now check your deck while on the monster reward screen. When picking a new card, the card selection screen is bigger and easier to read. There are 6 new cards that have been added to the mix including: Unbroken Martin, Devilles Deals and Aghast Strike Force Some Cards have been improved including: Bean Community, DreadsNought, Beaze Ranger Recruit Regal Wendy cost more mana, but the effects are the same. There are 6 more constructs to collect including: Grumpy Beans On Toast, Nightingale Cavalry and Sleepy Tree Some of the original Constructs have been improved. The rumple tokens from the last boss of each campaign now gives you more Rumple Tokens. There is an exciting new Misfit and Inspiration card that is now available. Some various bug fixes: Fixing certain soft locks that could occur during combat.
Cards will now have the full effect before being put into the discard pile. Some cards had rather poor grammar, and the text has been fixed.
Hello 👋 Hope you’re enjoying a lovely summer 🌞 We had a small holiday break ourselves, and took a trip to Sigtuna, one of the oldest Swedish towns with stone ruins dating back to the 11th century! We also visited a few nearby castles, and of course we took a million reference photos. Some people take pictures of beautiful sunsets or well-plated meals; our photo galleries are filled with walls 😆

It was a soothing change of pace from the intensity of the past few months. As you may have read in our newsletter, we’d been working hard to prepare Tiny Glade for the world, and just last month we had our very first closed playtest 🎮 We’d been mega nervous, but the vibes turned out to be the wholesomest! Every screenshot of what folks made was like opening a gift on Christmas morning 😄🎁
We were relieved by everyone’s positive reactions, and floored by the mountain of great feedback. The combined creative juices swirled into spicy new ideas, a few of which we’ve already started cooking 🍲👨🍳👩🍳 They will of course need to be tasted too, so we’re already planning the next playtest 🚀 As before, we will be recruiting from our newsletter!
Meanwhile, we’ve also been preparing a new trailer 🎬✨ The old one is no longer representative, and we’ve been itching to update it for a while. Then the perfect opportunity arose as we were invited to participate in the Future Games Show! 🎉 The new trailer is almost finished, and looks incredible if I may say so myself 😸 If you’d like to see it live, the show will be broadcast on Wednesday August 23, 2023 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST / 8pm CEST.
The past few months we were busy with mostly “invisible” architectural work, so it’s been fun to switch to improving visuals :D Paths finally got some well-deserved love…
… we also added a flowery variant of ivy, and made it avoid growing on windows…
…and finally the plaster prototype is getting into the game alongside neater cornerstones.
However, the shiniest improvement I’m keeping for the trailer 😁🤫

Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to) - Popcannibal

Long version:
If you've been following along with our folksy little updates all these years, you may be familiar with this theme: We didn't expect Kind Words to be popular and I didn't design the server thinking lots of people would actually use it. That caused some growing pains for all of us.
A few years ago I started rewriting the server for better performance and extensibility. I don't want to jinx it, but I've actually tested the new server for high loads unlike when we launched the current one.
It's going to take a few hours to do the upgrade because our database is around 7 gigabytes in size and I don't want to lose any of your messages. So first I'm gonna backup the existing database, which takes about a half hour. Then I need to convert the database to my totally redesigned format. That should take about an hour.
Let's assume something will go wrong, double that and add a little and I'm estimating 4 hours.
Boy do I hope nothing goes wrong.
The best thing about this server update is that it will let us do some new things with the game. And I know that everyone longs to open steam to be greeted by a monologue about server upgrades, so to thank you for your attention, I'm going to reward you with a tease for our next game update: we're adding a "favorites" system so you can curate your own little collection of the kindest of words.
