It has now been a whole year since Gun Devil was released, and today, I want to take a moment to celebrate your awesome feedback and passion for the game. At the time of writing this, the game has received 987 reviews and has been marked as Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam! Thank you all for this, it brings me great joy to see you all having fun.
Gun Devil's future
I want to touch the future plans of the game, my thoughts, and if there will ever be a sequel. To cut to the chase, the short answer is no, but it’s also maybe. I don’t want to get your hopes up though, so please stick with a no for now. The reason I say maybe is that I’ve had a few sparks to continue here and there. So probably, the longer I wait on resuming work on it, the more likely I’ll have fun with it again.
I wish I could come here and give good news regarding a follow-up, new content for the game, or something similar. However, I can't force myself to do something I don't want to do. The end result wouldn’t be good.
That said, I did add some minor stuff for the occasion, which are:
7 new achievements
A fanart section in the main menu to celebrate your creations
If you got any fanart laying around or want to make some, don't hesitate to join our Discord and post it there for us to see. I'll likely feature it in the game also! https://discord.gg/DEseUGr
Developing Gun Devil
As explained at the end of the game and in the Steam forums, working on the game hasn't been easy. The 2 year journey of making this was quite unfun and frustrating, mostly due to the paperwork effort of trying to get it funded and landing a publishing deal. It involved a constant stream of declines, which got really annoying and time consuming. It’s a tricky game to pitch, cus I want the game to be based on really silly / idiotic humor and include tasteful nudity.
After releasing the game, I did try again a little to find some publishers, but not hard enough since my true will to proceed wasn't really there anymore. Even if I did find someone interested, I'm not sure I'd be able to accept the deal.
Time will tell if I'll get back to work on this game again or not, cus if the passion isn't there then it can't be done sadly.
Current projects
So, if I’m not making Gun Devil, what am I doing nowadays? Currently, I'm working on Death In Abyss, a fast-paced deep-sea action submarine game where you engage in battles against alien-like sea monsters. More info below:
Working on this game has been extremely refreshing, it has especially given me a nice break from making 2D games. I really loved Star Fox Assault from my childhood, especially the flight sections. Haven’t really played Star Fox 64 though which is a bit odd, only like 1-2 stages, but oh well lol.
Financial stuff
Life's pretty good atm money-wise! Last autumn, Death In Abyss received an amazing production grant of 22,500 USD, allowing me to work full-time on the game. Additionally, having other games on the store, both on PC and console, further strengthens the financial aspect. While my current games aren't enough to sustain me completely yet, I'm confident I'll eventually get there. These days, I can actually relax a little and have fun without worrying too much about rent, which is a big thumbs up! I love creating stuff, and I hope to continue doing this for a long time.
If you want to help sustain my full-time gamedev dream, I do have a Patreon just for this. Thank you so much if you do decide to pledge, you’re goddamn cool. https://www.patreon.com/agelvik
In closing
I want to share all the fanart I could find from you guys, these are awesome! Once again, thank you all for playing Gun Devil and showing such love for it. Witnessing people have fun is the core reason why I make games. It's a unique energy that's hard to find anywhere else.
Liar dice can be played by two or more players and consists of guessing how many dice, placed under cups, there are on the table showing a certain number. Players take it in turns with ever increasing 'bids' to guess the highest number of dice under the cups. If a player believes the last 'bid' was too high they can call them a ‘liar’. If they are correct and the previous player was a ‘liar’ then that player loses a dice. If the accuser was incorrect they lose a dice. The last player to still retain a single dice is the winner.
In canVERSE you place cards to make your 'bids', 'raise the stakes' or call a player a 'liar'. Whilst the dice are visible to you they are not visible to other players in the game.

Today, the unique 3D perspective puzzle game "The Book of Hiro", developed by MingCang Studio and published by OKJOY, officially opens its Steam store page.
The game tells the story of the brave villager Hiro, who is tasked to visit the king at the palace. Along the way, players will switch directions, utilize perspective illusions, and piece together specific patterns to discover the hidden "keys" within the map, unraveling the puzzles in the space.
“The Book of Hiro” is a 3D visual puzzle game where players solve challenges and puzzles using illusions and perspective to find the hidden key in the map. The game tells the story of a brave villager named Hero who was ordered to meet the king and encountered various challenges and puzzles.
About this game: “The Book of Hiro” is a 3D visual puzzle game developed by two independent developers. Players help Hero embark on an adventure to the palace, using illusions and perspective to solve puzzles and explore the magical world in this book.
[Innovative Visual Puzzles] The game features innovative visual puzzles that are imaginative and visually stunning. The innovative visual illusion-finding gameplay involves moving the viewing angle, clicking, and other operations to find the hidden “key” pattern in the picture. Each puzzle solved can advance the plot and provide a unique gaming experience and visual impact.
[Vivid 3D Graphics] The game features a simple and fresh 3D low-poly style that is full of childlike innocence while meticulously depicting the different scenes in the story. The game’s soothing and distant music complements the graphics to create a mysterious visual pop-up book.
[Challenging Gameplay] The game features shiny gold coins, ordinary keys, hammers, gears, and other objects that are common but difficult to find due to the game’s unusual mechanics. Players must make bold guesses and not be fooled by seemingly unrelated images. They must carefully observe and remember that what they see is not necessarily what they get!
[Intriguing Storyline] The game features an energetic and art-inspired storybook style. Behind the seemingly ordinary protagonist’s travel story is a hidden plot and an extraordinary experience. The game includes a main storyline and hidden endings waiting for you to explore.
The game is still in the intense development stage. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to join our DISCORD channel for discussion
