Attention, pilots! We invite you to participate in the summer tournament from our friends — “SUMMER DREAMHACK”!

This time, the main feature of the tournament is that it will be held on ships of 4-6 ranks, which will not only allow new players to participate in team-oriented battles, but also allow experienced players to test their skills in limited conditions of low ranks.

Tournament terms


Main tournament conditions
  • Tournament system: Double Elimination, lower bracket — Bo1 (up to one defeat), upper bracket — Bo3 (up to 2 defeats);
  • Tournament format: 5х5 (1 reserve);
  • Game modes: Beacon hunt, Beacon capture, Domination;
  • Self damage: enabled;
  • Friendly fire: enabled;
  • Available ships: ⁠premium + ES 4-6 ranks;
  • Available missiles: ES only;
  • Available modules, weapons and ammunition: ES and the list of allowed equipment;
  • Banned: Ghost, premium and craft ammunition.
Registration period:
  • Registration deadline: August 4, 18:00 UTC;
  • Stream of tournament bracket: August 4, 19:00 UTC.
Tournament matches period:
  • August 5, 15:00 UTC;
  • August 6, 15:00 UTC.

The tournament will be streamed live on this YouTube channel.


Registration
To register your team, you need to follow this link and send an application message using the following example:

Important:
  • By registering for the tournament, players agree to the General regulations of tournaments;
  • The application for registration is submitted as one message with the ability to edit it before the end of registration;
  • Changes of nicknames are forbidden until rewards are received;
  • Nicknames and the name of the team must be “readable” and understandable to the tournament team;
  • Visually similar nicknames and team names are forbidden.

Matchmaking
Tournament Administrator creates a fake lobby in the “Custom battle” mode in 20-25 minutes before the match starts, and then sends invitations to the captains of the teams participating in a particular round.

In the created lobby, team captains do the following steps:
  • Ban one map with a game mode in the right queue order;
  • Pick one map with a game mode in the right queue order;
  • Ban ships in order of priority.
After completing the steps above, the Tournament Administrator creates a lobby in the “Custom battle” mode with the map and mode picked by the captain, and invites teams.

The system described above works in parallel: during the ban-picks of the teams of the first tournament round, another Administrator already sends custom battle invitations to the teams of the second round, etc.

The minimum number of teams for the tournament is 8.


Bans and picks of maps and modes
Upper bracket:
  • The first team to ban maps and modes is the one placed higher in the bracket;
  • Captains ban maps with mode from the list below;
  • The team that is lower in the bracket chooses a map with a mode, spawn side and server for the first round, the team that is higher in the bracket choses the server for the second round;
  • The third map is played in case of a draw on the previous two, the spawn side is random, the RU server is in priority;
  • The server is set to EU if there is a choice between RU and US (NA).
Map pool:
  • The Source: Beacon capture;
  • Lava Spines: Beacon Hunt;
  • Dreadnought debris: Beacon Hunt;
  • PB-42: Domination;
  • Excavation site #6: Beacon Hunt.
Lower bracket:
  • Game mode: Domination;
  • Map: random from the list;
  • Spawn side: random;
  • The server is selected from teams preferences; RU server is in priority, but if there is a choice between RU and US (NA) then EU is set.
Map pool:
  • Northern mining station;
  • “Northstar” Crash Site;
  • “Pilgrim-11”.
It is forbidden to pick a map with a mode that the opponent has already picked.


Bans of ships
  • Each team can ban 2 ships for a single round;
  • The tournament Administration requests bans from the team captains by a message in the “Room” chat;
  • The first team to ban the ships is the one placed higher in the tournament bracket.
The order of ship bans:
  • Team A Captain — 1 ship
  • Team B Captain — 1 ship
  • Team A Captain — 1 ship
  • Team B Captain — 1 ship
Important:
  • The time to ban a ship is 1 minute. If after 1 minute there is no ban, the slot remains “empty”;
  • If a captain didn’t accept an invitation to ban ships and maps with modes, slots remain “empty’;
  • A team can ban no more than one Engineer;
  • It is forbidden to ban ships that are already banned or not available in the tournament.

Prize pool
  • Progressive prize pool system: the more teams, the higher the reward!
  • There is an ability to exchange the reward for the special Tournament points (the equivalent is in brackets).

Anyone who played on beta (play on PTR) for Rings & Ruins will earn the character title "Ring Runner". The character title will be distributed within a week of launch.

Since we're making continuous updates to Zenith, we're also moving away from the "Patches", "Minor", and "Major" naming conventions. Going forward we'll be using "Updates" to describe a group of changes.
We're excited to announce the Rings & Ruins Update! This update has a brand new area unlocked within Skylands, new pets, various bug fixes including godstone fixes and more.

New Content
- The wall in Skyland has now shifted, unlocking a brand new area to explore filled with new aerial challenges and quests. Help the Skyland expedition team expand their forces further into the island!
- Added a new chapter in the Skyland storyline, featuring two brand new characters!
- Added 3 new Public Events, including one of a brand new Payload Public Event type
- Work together to defend an objective, escorting it through the zone and towards a final destination, fighting off enemies as you go!
- Added a new Pylon buff for players to collect!
- Add new Epic Helm, Leggings, Chestpieces, and Weapons for players to craft!
- Added new pet: Bumblewing
- Added new pet: Grasslands Jellypuff

Feature/System Updates
- Made Skyland pylon stat buffs apply on top of regional downscaling instead of being limited by it
- Improvements to the world map - it recenters on the player when opened, and can be centered by clicking in the right joystick
- Reworked how godstone cooldowns work, so that switching godstones in combat is now possible and behaves as intended. Cooldowns will carry over to the new godstone
- Implemented a mechanism to prevent player data loss when logging in if data is unreadable. Players will be unable to log in and will be asked to contact support

Resolved Issues
- Fixed Meta Quest Pro using portals for loading and resetting to this on every login
- Fixed inability to move the harvesting tool for some players
- Fixed Essence Mage Tank Ultimate (Entropy Skewer) not applying stagger duration increase as described on its tooltip
- Fixed comfort preferences button on character list not working
- Potential fix for a crash that could occur on all platforms when loading the world, most often when coming back from an instanced raid/dungeon
- Fixed summoning lifeskills menu not showing the bottom row if it was less than half full
- Fixed an issue which could result in player inventories not being saved when being kicked from an instance via the timeout
- Fixed an issue which could cause the Skyland Agent rank to have all its challenges un-claimable (with an error popup) for some players
- Fixed an issue where player-ally NPC health bars could not show up if they spawned in front of the player
- Fixed certain kinds of status effects which should provide instant lifesteal to the player (e.g. Bloodblade) not working
- Fix for an issue which caused lag spikes when switching zones
- Fixed godstones breaking when switching between them after previously having had a stamina regen buff
The Anacrusis - notthatwillsmith
We wanted to get a quick hotfix out before the weekend to solve a handful of issues introduced with the Matchmaking update and several Versus mode exploits that we discovered with the help of the community. We have a follow-up patch in testing now that will be out early next week that solves many of the situations that cause players to be unable to reconnect after a crash, disconnect, etc.

  • Alien players on four-player teams are less likely to have back-to-back spawns of the same Alien now. This is just the first phase of this fix, but we have more coming in future updates
  • When you enable Alien AI in Versus mode, the Alien AI players won’t spawn directly in front of human-controlled players anymore
  • When an Alien player falls out of the world, they’ll respawn as the same alien they were before. Players won’t be able to exploit this so they can select the alien they play every time
  • Players will no longer be able to recover health as alien players when they use the warp option to move closer to the Survivors. When an Alien players moves closer and respawns, they’ll return with the same health they had before they warped

Player Profiles are coming next week in the Emerald Bear (1.2.0) PC update. They can be accessed by clicking on your own portrait at the top of the screen in the main menu, or by clicking the portrai of another player. You can also find it by clicking the “...” next to the name of a player in several different menus.Player Profiles will contain information about ranked match rating, rank (a.k.a. rank level for those familiar with the web leaderboards), and some statistics about matches.

Like our web leaderboards, elo (a rating system measuring sill level) is per faction per match size, meaning that you have a separate rating and rank for 4v4 American and 1v1 American. The reason for this is to encourage players to experiment with different factions and strategies without impacting their score for the others. We understand that you may have a favorite and don't want you to lose standing for switching it up once in a while!

Your profile will also contain info about Co-op vs A.I. although this mode does not have a rating. You can still measure your wins and losses and track hours played per faction.

You can jump directly to the web leaderboards from the player profile, which we hope helps the visibility of our competitive community and also helps new players join in the competition.

Some additional changes coming along with Player Profiles include:
  • Players now have ranking for their quick match elo rating (see below).
  • Updated artwork for faction icons.
  • Added elo rating, rating change, and rank icons to the post match stats screen. Only the current player's change will be shown, but all players' elo and rank is displayed.

Multiplayer quick match rating now gives players a League and Tier rank based on their elo as follows. This corresponds with the "rank levels" previously displayed on the leaderboard.

Placement -- New players start here! Play a few matches and you will move into a specific league and tier. You will need 10 matches for each faction in a specific game mode to earn a rank.

Brass III: 0-299 rating
Brass II: 300-599 rating
Brass I: 600-799 rating

Bronze III: 800-999 rating
Bronze II: 1000-1049 rating
Bronze I: 1050-1099 rating

Iron III: 1100-1149 rating
Iron II: 1150-1199 rating

Player Profiles FAQ

Q: Ranking? I thought this was an unranked mode!

A: This was a difficult choice for us. While we would love to have a separate ranked mode, we also want to support players who queue for Co-op vs. AI plus all the different combinations of faction and match size for both Multiplayer PvP and Co-op. Each queue splits the player base and has the potential to lengthen queue times. We know that you value shorter queue times and don't want to lengthen them by splitting the queues even more. In addition, we are currently sticking to the historical realism of enforcing Axis vs. Allies, so it is possible for one side or the other to have a longer wait time. Adding a separate queue would put more pressure on this. Instead, we've opted to keep a single set of multiplayer queues and changed the wording in-game to remove references to "unranked" as this was misleading.

We already have web leaderboards for the quick match queue, and we intend to maintain that. It made more sense to expose the fact that quick match is ranked in a way that is easily accessible in the game, rather than it being a feature that players discover through the community.

Q: Will you reset the leaderboards?

A: This was another tricky one. We've decided not to reset the leaderboards at this time. Although there was not an in-game ranking system before, members of our competitive community worked hard to top the web leaderboards and we don't want to reset progress without a reason such as changing the underlying way that ranks are calculated. Since the release of player profiles does not change the underlying system, only expose it, it did not make sense to reset everyone's progress.

Q: Ranks? Leagues? Does this mean there will be seasons or seasonal resets?

A: Currently, no. We were focused on adding player profiles as soon as possible, as this was one of the big community requests we've been getting since the game launched. It was more important to us to get this into players' hands sooner rather than develop a more complex seasonal system. This means that for now elo is persistent and does not reset. It also means that placement is a one-time status per leaderboard.
