July update is here!

It's time to go and visit Jane for some muscle worship content!
This update is a little lighter than others because we both spent a lot of time updating a few quality of life things like the Gallery to now be complete, but also preparing for a bigger update next month where we do a deeper dive on the main characters transformation with the witch!
Hearts of Iron IV - PDX Chakerathe
Hello there, it's me C0RAX.

This week we are going to talk about some of the small features coming with Arms Against Tyranny, these are small things that add or change the game to increase the QoL or add to the game.

So this week we have 3 main groupings;
  • Division Structure
  • Economy
  • Presets
Division Structure
First up we have division structure changes. The way you make a division has been fairly static for quite some time. With this update there are some new changes that increase the challenge and compromises you will have to make when designing your divisions.

First up we have some changes to the categories for each brigade that you choose when you pick the first battalion for each vertical column. Previously we had both artillery, AA and AT in the same category as maneuver units like infantry and tanks. This is no longer the case; artillery, AA, and AT are now in their own category meaning you need to choose how many support brigades you have and how many maneuver brigades you have. This extends to mobile battalion and armored battalion categories.

Previously there was never any real scarcity when it came to a division's battalion slots, you could generally always have whatever number of battalions you wanted in generally any mixture. Now your brigade also starts with the bottom slot locked making a 5x4 grid.this is the default state of divisions and you can unlock this 5th slot by unlocking doctrines giving you a 5x5 grid. When this is combined with the category changes you will need to think about how much combat support battalions you can bring vs vs how many maneuver battalions you you need if you want to make that large division with lots of tank and infantry you will be significantly restricting just how much Artillery, AA and AT you bring to boost your unit.

Economy

Now we are onto something many of you have seen in the focus tree dev diaries is the new modifier “Consumer Goods Factories Factor” . This new modifier exists because the Consumer goods calculation and its associated modifiers have changed.

Previously the calculation of consumer goods was calculated by adding all the consumer goods modifiers to get a percentage; it then worked out the number of factories that percentage represented against your total factory count. So if you had 5 civs and 5 mils for 10 total factories and your consumer goods modifiers total was 10% you had to pay 1 civ for consumer goods. You were then “taxed” that number of civilian factories.

This had a nasty problem in that it was very easy to first reach 0% consumer goods which was a considerable balance consideration due to it allowing faster snowballing of the economy. This easiness of reaching 0% consumer goods was then a problem because once you reached 0% other parts of the game where the reward was a further reduction of consumer goods were rendered useless since you cannot go below 0% consumer goods.

This is now done a little differently, firstly there are now 2 steps to the calculation of the percentage. First we have the base value(expected consumer goods), this works the same as the old percentage calculation; it's a simple percent value that is added up together. This generally is only set by laws so it acts as a base value that everything else modifies. We then have the consumer goods factor (the new modifier) which multiplies this value and if there are multiple factor modifiers they are multiplied together meaning that you will generally never actually reach 0% consumer goods from just the factor alone and the effect of each additional consumer good factor modifier has diminishing returns.

We have also as part of this made the consumer goods calculation round down consumer goods factories which should help minors a bit while not really being highly noticeable for majors.

For those who want a detailed copy of the calculations it's like this:

ConsumerGoodsPercent = (Base1 + Base2 +
.) *((1+Factor1) * (1+Factor2) *
.)

ConsumerGoods = Max(ConsumerGoodsPercent , MINIMUM_NUMBER_OF_FACTORIES_TAKEN_BY_CONSUMER_GOODS_PERCENT ) (ConsumerGoods * Total factories).RoundedDown

Presets
And finally I kept the most exciting one till last, and that is presets for your equipment designers. Ever since the introduction of the equipment designers we have known that some players don't want to or struggle to interact with the complexity of them especially when they are new to the features or game. This was for many off putting and something they would shy away from or be continuously frustrated with, Since the game didn’t really teach you how to make a well rounded design for each role. This was doubly true if they wanted to recreate a historical vehicle that they know from their own knowledge of WW2 but didn’t understand how to translate that into the game with the designer.

What these are are premade designs for your equipment designers that are stored in the game files. When you create a new variant from a blank chassis you can press the presets button and will get a list of all the presets made for that chassis/hull/airframe. So should you open up the improved heavy tank chassis presets you will find an entry called Tiger I and you will see the picture of the Tiger I tank and if you click it all the modules and roles and values will be set for you. Should you be missing modules or upgrades the preset entry will tell you what you are missing in order to make it, then all you have to do is research those modules and then create the variant.

So now if you don't understand or want to understand the deeper workings of equipment design you can still make good use of the equipment designers just pick the tank you want and the game will make it for you. Of course if you want to try out tweaking the designs to edge your way into the world of equipment design you can do that too. Once the preset is loaded you can adjust any part of the design as normal, and if you feel lost at any point you can just load the preset back in.

Some of you may wonder why we’re not allowing you to add your own presets or saved templates. In short, this is something we’d like to do and are not ruling out for the future - historical presets are an important step towards making custom presets a possibility.

However, this feature is entirely moddable so if you want your MP mods to have all the latest meta builds there as presets you can do that, or if you want even more templates for your super in depth history mod or maybe a totally different world you can do that. These presets are defined by the templates you make normally for the AI with some new additional fields, you can now define the art and the name of the template.

That's everything for this dev diary, I hope you will enjoy these changes as much as we have. As always feel free to let us know your favorite parts.

Next week we will be bringing you more information on a new system for content along with how it will be tied into the stories you can tell with this expansion and beyond. See you next week.

Season 29 – Rewards and Soft Elo Reset

At the beginning of every season, there is a soft Elo reset, your placement matches are reset, and you receive Glory – the currency you earn by playing Ranked.

We hope you enjoy the new season!

Soft Elo Reset Formula

Soft Elo Reset is based on your current Elo at the end of the season.

1v1 and 2v2 Personal Rating

  • Under 1400: New Elo = Old Elo
  • Over 1400: New Elo = 1400 + (Old Elo – 1400) / (3 – (3000 – Old Elo) / 800)
  • 2v2 Team and Legend Rating
2v2 Team & Legend Ratings have been brought closer to 750.
  • Under 2000: Elo = (Elo + 375) / 1.5
  • Over 2000, we aggressively brought you back down as a way of resetting the top tiers.
Glory Earnings Calculation

Glory earned is based on a combination of your Highest Peak Rating (highest 1v1, 2v2, team, or Legend rating/Elo) and total Wins. This was designed in order to reward both skill and dedication for those who pursue Glory.

You gain 20 Glory per win up to 150 wins, which gets you 3000 Glory. After 150 wins, each subsequent win gives you slightly less.

Note: There is a minimum requirement of 10 games played to be eligible for Glory based on your rating. For help estimating your Glory Gained or New Elo after the reset go to: http://brawlhalla.com/glory-calculator/

Placement Matches

Players beginning their Ranked climb have 10 placement matches to better determine their skill level and starting Elo.
  • Each season, for Ranked 1v1 and Ranked 2v2, your first 10 matches will serve as placement matches that will have a greater effect on your rating than normal games. Your rating will be hidden until after you have completed your placement matches for that queue.
Valhallan Rank

Valhallan Rank will open on August 2nd. To become Valhallan, players must be Ranked in Diamond, have at least 100 wins during the Ranked season, and attain a rating among the top players in their region.

Each region has a limited number of Valhallan positions:
  • US-E / EU – Top 150
  • SA – Top 100
  • SEA / US-W – Top 50
  • AUS / JPN – Top 25
  • SAF – Top 10
  • ME – Top 10
These numbers are based on each region’s population and will be considered for adjustment on a seasonal basis.

Unique Valhallan Rewards

After ranking up, players will immediately receive the Valhallan Avatar, Loading Frame, and Season Title Reward.

Valhallan Loading Frame:
  • Unlike other Ranked Loading Frames, the Valhallan Loading Frame can only be used while the player is currently in the Valhallan rank. Players are granted it immediately upon achieving Valhallan, and if they are pushed out of Valhallan rank, the Loading Frame will be revoked when the daily reset occurs (9am UTC/5am EDT/2am PDT).
Valhallan Title Reward:
  • Players are awarded a Title immediately upon achieving Valhallan. Each season will have a unique Valhallan Title Reward. The Title is never revoked, regardless of rank.
Valhallan Avatar:
  • Instead of an Avatar that upgrades at the end of each season, the Valhallan Avatar is awarded immediately upon achieving Valhallan.
  • The Valhallan Avatar has two states: active and inactive. The active Avatar is rewarded immediately upon achieving the Valhallan rank but can be downgraded to the inactive “Fallen” state if players fall out of Valhallan rank when the daily reset occurs.
  • To reactivate the Avatar, players need to reach the Valhallan rank again. Players will retain ownership of the Avatar between seasons, but it will be in the “Fallen” state at the start of every season.

Ranked Borders from Season 28

If you placed Gold, Platinum, or Diamond at any point in the season, you are given a Ranked border based on your highest rank that other players can see in the match preview screen. These will last for one season and will be updated again after the new season comes to a close.

Your border from any previous season does not carry over or have any impact on your current border reward.

Ranked Avatars from Season 28

Ranked Avatars include prestigious versions for those who’ve placed in high ranks during previous seasons. For example, if you placed in Platinum last season and Gold this season, you’ll receive the upgraded versions of the Competitor’s Badge and Gold Emblem. You will still have your original Platinum Emblem Avatar from previous seasons.

You must play a minimum of 10 games to receive Ranked Avatars / Borders at ANY rank.
  • Competitor’s Badge: Awarded to anyone who plays 10 Ranked Games or more.
  • Gold Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Gold or above.
  • Platinum Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Platinum or above.
  • Diamond Emblem: Awarded to players who finish at Diamond.
  • Upgraded versions of Ranked Avatars are awarded to those who have earned the same Avatar in any previous season.
For players who have reached the 5th Tier of an Avatar by reaching a certain rank or higher for five total seasons: the 5th Tier of that Avatar will stay in your inventory permanently! Congratulations on your achievements!

The 6th Tier Avatar, for those who have reached a certain rank or higher for six total seasons, will take on a brand new look! These Avatars will grow more and more prestigious with each subsequent seasonal repeat up to Tier 10, at which point the Tier 10 Avatar will remain in your inventory permanently.

In short, every 5 Tiers of Avatars, you’ll keep the most awesome, most decked out version permanently, and then start work on a new version for subsequent tiers for 6-10, 11-15, and so on.

Players can continue to earn Glory mid-season and earn exclusive Title Rewards. With every new season, the Seasonal Ranked Queue’s Elo will do a full reset.

Heavenly Bodies - josh
Hey everyone!

Alex and Josh here, the devs on Heavenly Bodies. We hope you’ve been well since the last time we made an update on here :)

We have an exciting one today for all of you. Remember when we said about a year ago that we were working on more content? We’re so happy to finally reveal what that content is – our DLC, Cleanup, coming on July 26th!

We’ve been working hard on this DLC for a good while now. It’s given us an opportunity to prototype and implement mechanics we’d always wanted to make but didn’t find a home in the original game. The DLC has also given us a chance to develop a larger scale level and change up how the new gameplay is structured.

Expect a brand new, huge semi-open level split across 7 days; a new Piloted Manoeuvring Unit (PMU) Vehicle; new tools and gadgets including magnetic attractors, drills, and more; and new challenging gameplay mechanics!

A large challenge with developing it has been finding the balance between the bigger scale of the new level and pacing the introduction of new items and mechanics. There are still lots of things those of you who have played the base game will be familiar with, but there are also lots of new exciting things for you to learn and discover as you progress. It was a delicate balancing act to find a logical place for all of this across several hours of new content.

And we mean *hours* – Cleanup will be anywhere from 3 to 5 hours long: the same as the base game itself! The DLC on its own is priced at $7.99 USD; if this will be your first time playing Heavenly Bodies, the base game and the DLC together are priced at $25 USD.

We’re really excited for you to play this. It’s our way of thanking you for all the incredibly kind feedback you’ve given this tiny 2-person developer duo. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We’ll update you again when the DLC comes out on the 26th of July. Please feel free to join our Discord for a humble but nice time with the rest of the Heavenly Bodies community.

And please give the DLC a wishlist! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2391340/Heavenly_Bodies__Cleanup_DLC

See you soon!
Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara - Chibig
We’re now vibing with these summer good mood that Koa and Napopo are bringing to everybody - can’t help it!

Just 1 week left to launch Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara (July 27th) and we can confirm everything will be ready to enjoy this summer game adventure (hopefully your new favourite one) from the very first minute.

But, what can we expect from this special day? We’ll, many things! We don’t want to spoil so much until the big day, but can confirm that a 15% launch discount during the first week from the launch will happen!

Wishlist the game if you haven't yet and join Koa and Napopo in their next adventure across Mara.

Meet the cast (again?)

In case you didn’t play Summer in Mara or didn’t know yet some of the characters you’ll find in this new adventure, here are a quick view to get familiar and know what to
expect from them!

THE KIDS

Koa, Napopo, Mayo, Sandee are our troop of rowdy kids in search of pirate trials. Talk to them from time to time to race against them and get new outfits for Koa.

QÄLIS

Although many tourists now come for its beauty and gastronomy, you will find familiar faces who will lend a hand (and you can help them too) in your new adventures. The wise Saimi will help you decipher the map pieces, Akaji will forge the level medals and Noho and Caleb will be as always in the middle of everything. But there's more!

THE PIRATES

Do you know when a pirate is really dangerous? When he gets bored! And this gang is always up to something, but this time they're up to no good! They're not as bad as they look, so be nice to them.

We’re working on some ‘guide type’ posts that we’ll pin in the forum as a FAQ for you to have a better experience with the game. Feel free to leave some questions below this post to add them to this - make it together! 🙂

Well see you in a week, may the winds of Mara be kind to you!
Stolen Realm - JJ
v0.22 Patch Notes - Roguelike Mode

Our brand new Roguelike mode is a fast paced version of the game where you can mix and match builds that are simply not possible in the traditional campaign. After every battle, you gain a level, choose a random skill and a random item from a set of options. Enemies, Bosses and Events are randomized too, making every run unique. Permadeath is the only option, but even if you fail, each run will help towards permanently unlocking new characters and passive skills for your future runs. Harder difficulties await those who desire greater glory. Can you make it through the roguelike gauntlet and conquer the final dragon?

This new updates also adds a battle drops system where powerups that include damage bonuses, cooldown reductions and more, will spawn during battle. Men of War II - FQ_MichalC

Greetings Commanders,

Not so long ago we showed you a first little sample of the modding scene already forming around Men of War II (Mods in Men of War II – Lost Eagles Sneak Peek), and we would like to continue this series today by introducing another classic mod for the game’s launch this September. "Born in the Fire: America" – the famous modification about events of wars of the XVIII-XIX centuries, both in the American and European theaters is in the process of being remade for Men of War II. Big emphasis in its story is put on the colonization of North America, War of Independence, American Civil War and the era of the Wild West. The mod features historically accurate soldier equipment, weapons, cannons and ships, as well as horses and carts.

This version of the ‘Born in the Fire: America’, made and ported for Men of War II by ALC Team, consists of 6 missions about various events such as battle of Bunker-Hill, defense of Jamestown and the last battle of Colonel Custer. All levels have been reworked with the new resources of Men of War II and have received an updated visual style.

“We started our path into modding with the GEM engine and to this day we’re doing it here, this engine is very simple and most accessible tool for us to implement our ideas, interesting little features, plots and to create unique content. Men of War II continues this trend by expanding modding possibilities with its toolset. For us, port of the Born in the Fire is just the beginning.” – ChrisTaylor and Sea-Knight from ALC Team told us. If you’re interested in their projects, you can join their Discord channel.

Stay tuned, we will have even more news to share with you soon! And if you are a modder with a great idea for new content, or have an already existing mod you would like to convert to Men of War II, contact us at pr@fulqrumpublishing.com - we cannot promise everyone who asks will get early access to the modding tools however, since the game is still in development.

Don’t forget to wishlist Men of War II, join its Discord and follow Fulqrum Publishing on social media, so you don’t miss any of our announcements!
