Deathmatch Mode
A new mode, Deathmatch Mode, has been added. In this mode, viewers can participate by using the "!join" command while watching the stream on twitch.tv. Characters with the names of participating viewers will fight with weapons until only one person remains.
The maximum number of participating viewers depends on the playing environment and can be specified in the tens of thousands. Enjoy Deathmatch Mode with a large number of viewers.

Japanese Language Support
Japanese has been added as a supported language. It is now possible to switch the game's UI and explanations to Japanese, allowing Japanese users to easily play the game.

Greetings to all you diligent AIs out there, welcome to Update 0.9.1!

This one has some Ear & Eyecandy, aswell as more bugfixes and because we love it so much, even more balancing!


We've also watched a lot of lovely streamers playing our game over the last week, which helped us to see the game more through your (A)eyes (Get it?... okay I'll stop already).

Using this feedback, we've implemented some small QoL stuff and added/rewrote some tooltips / info texts, that hopefully make the game a bit more approachable.

For example:

We've added a Copy & Paste function for the base building, so no more tedious building of the same production lines!

We've set the Railgun Tower to target "Highest current HP" by default now, as this is usually the role you would give it.

We've added a "close" button for the tutorial missions, so it now won't take up so much screen space, when you are doing a mission that's still far away from being completed.
(Looking at you "unlock outposts & fleet management" mission!)

There's still a lot more feedback that we took away from this and we try to implement it step by step over the next updates.

Full Feature List of this update
  • Copy and Paste function for the base building.
  • New ground graphics for level 6 (Purtauri).
  • Added more quests.
  • Added a "close" button to the tutorial. This will hide the tutorial tasks on the left, aswell as any connected tutorial arrows for the current task. After hiding, an Icon will show up in the lower left, where you can show the tutorial again.
  • Polished the recipe modification UI a little bit and rewrote the "How to" section, in hopes that this makes it easier to understand what's happening on the modification screen.
  • The Railguntower now targets "Highest current HP" by default.

Balancing

We did another round of nerfs for level 6 (Purtauri) as you needed to grind around ~200+ Skillpoints to get this done with a normal beacon, which was way too much and frustrating.
Together with some equipment rebalancing and buffs, it should now be beatable with some minor preperation.

Please note that we've also changed ingot recipes: All Ingots except Iron and Copper now require coal!
To make up for it, the dropchance and amount of coal was slightly increased across all enemies and levels.

Recipes
  • All Ingots except Iron and Copper now require coal.
  • AP Ammo Tier 1 now requires 3 Gunpowder and 2 instead of 3 Copper Ingots.
  • HE Ammo Tier 1 now requires 5 Gunpowder, 2 instead of 3 Copper Ingots and 6 instead of 5 Iron Ingots.
  • Increased EMP Shell Tier 1 Gunpowder cost from 3 to 6
  • Increased Plasma Shell Tier 1 Gunpoweder cost from 5 to 8
  • The required base items for modified Copper, Iron or Aluminium Ingots now have a max amount of 6 instead of inifity.
  • The recipe modification for drones was removed, as it wasn't working anyways.
Equipment
  • Increased max heat damage of the 120kW laser from 6 to 9
  • Increased cold damage of the T1 Cryo Cannon from 5 to 9
  • CryoLiquids no longer reduce AoE cold Piercing
  • Increased CryoLiquids max AoE cold damage from 2 to 5
  • Increased CryoLiquids max slow from 5% to 6%
  • CryoLiquids can now roll 0-3 Ammo
  • Increased Freezer burn Liquids max AoE cold damage from 5 to 7
  • Reduced Freezer burn Liquids max AoE cold piercing from 6% to 4%
  • Increased Freezer burn Liquids max slow -3% to -5%

  • The Gunpowder recipe now unlocks after beating the first level.
  • Added sulfur drops across all enemies and levels.
  • Beating the first level gives additional 10 Gunpowder.

Artillery Tower:
  • Increased heat AoE damage per Level from 1% to 2% for Plasma Modulation I to V
Tesla Tower:

Endless
  • Fixed the "Elemental Shell" mutation, it now reduces damage by 1% per stack instead of 100%

  • Reduced music volume a bit.
  • Fixed the volume of Tower sounds.
  • The tutorial now requires you to modify an iron ingot instead of copper.
  • If an item decreases the slow of the cryo tower, the text now will correctly show "Decreases" instead of "Increases".
  • Added an infotext regarding the rolling of stats when crafting equipment.
  • Added a tooltip for the "Stay on target" checkbox on a selected tower.
  • Fixed some missing tutorial arrows.
  • Cryo Liquids now shouldn't have a negative itemLevel anymore.
  • Fix Mobs sometimes preserve Visual DoT Effects on recycle

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley - nemlei_dev
The game has now been in development for five months. Five months!!! Good god......

Nothing too special to share this time, so here are some details of the story format and its progress.

I'm fairly confident the full game should include three new episodes. Two of which are going to be different branches of episode 3.

  • Episode 1 - Finished
  • Episode 2 - Semi Finished (playable with some placeholder art + missing audio)
  • Episode 3A - About 10% done.
  • Episode 3B - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
*NOTE - This doesn't mean episodic release. The full game will include all episodes.


I intend for both branches to have two endings each. And no, I'm not counting game-overs as endings.

Episode lengths vary greatly, so a release date estimate is still impossible.

Window Navigation Updates
ScreenPlay now adapts to the light and dark theme of the system. It also now features a new quick action menu on the top right for (left to right) muting, pausing, closing all wallpaper and wallpaper settings.

Updated to latest Qt 6.5.1
Before we bore you with all the technical detail about the changes from Qt5 to Qt6, it is mostly about enabling some important features you can see below like Apple silicon and mp4 support. This also brings always a good amount of bugfixes.

Playback Of H.264 (.mp4) Content
Qt6.2 ships with a completely revamped multimedia leveraging modern Windows, Linux and OSX APIs resulting in better performance and codec support. We now support h.264 on Windows and OSX. Even h.265 is supported when it is bought via the Windows App store. Open Source codecs are always recommended to push Open Source software.

One Click Import And Export
Sharing content just got a hole lot easier! You can simply now right click to export. This will export an .screenplay file, that contains all associated project files. This uses 7zip internally to compress the data, that means it can also be opened with regular 7zip. Importing works also just by dropping a .screenplay file onto ScreenPlay.

Apple Silicon M1 and M2
Qt6 support brings us also free Apple Silicon support! This includes working Universal binary support, so now all ScreenPlay.app, ScreenPlayWallpaper.app, and ScreenPlayWidget.app will work with both Intel and Apple Silicon at full speed.

Improved SysInfo API
The SysInfo API got a new IP-Address feature to list your public and private IP addresses. This will work for IPv4 and IPv6! For this we ping the free http://icanhazip.com service.

New Weather Forecast API
Another great addition to ScreenPlays expanding feature set is the new Weather API. It is build around http://open-meteo.com, that will provide a detailed 7 day forecast. We now additionally include Weather Icons for nice set of matching icons.

Standalone Installer: None Steam (Workshop) Version
ScreenPlay can now be independently be downloaded. This includes a nice Qt IFW based installer. Note: This version does not include the Steam Workshop Plugin. You can still create Wallpaper via the Create tab or import any .screenplay file.


All other features and fixes:
  • Pack macos ScreenPlay into a single executable ScreenPlay.app
  • Fix Windows fractional wallpaper scaling.
  • Fix Windows wallpaper fade in calculation. We know correctly calculate the default Windows wallpaper position for nice fade-in animations.
  • Add explicit quit and minimize warning dialog.
  • Fix macos Wallpaper showing app icon in dock.
  • Deprecate QtMaintanance based Qt setup. We now use aqt directly and thus no longer require a Qt account. If you are using VSCode you can simply install the C/C++ and CMake Tools with the newly added CMakePresets.json. QtCreator still has some issues, see my bugreport here.
  • Add working linux CI. This also includes a working KDE Wallpaper version that is not yet 100% ready.
  • Add first batch of default content that will ship by default with the next ScreenPlay version.
  • Update steamSDK to 1.56
  • Fix widget and wallpaper live reloading
  • Fix widget not propagating input
  • Update to ffmpeg 6.0
  • Change to shorter SPDX license in header files
  • Add moc include for faster compile times
  • Remove QApplication in favor of QGuiApplication to fix dark window border on Windows
  • Add tasks.json for things like setup.py so it can be started from VSCode gui
  • Refactor linux X11 support: Rename LinuxWindow to LinuxX11Window, for kde we use a desktop wallpaper plugin and for Wayland we need something else entirely.
  • Add audio icon if installed wallpaper contains audio

- Item infusion damage modifiers are now processed before enchantments (aka Brutal can double dagger infusion bonus damage).

- Fixed thrown items not working with Dagger infusion trait properly. (Reported by TurtleSuc.)
- Fixed vending machines occasionally being empty. (Reported by Monke the Rubble-Man.)
- Fixed being able to sprint while sprinting by throwing nothing. (Reported by KingPsychospud7.)
- Attempting to grab a Rock Crab with a full inventory will now grab it as a character instead of as an item. (Reported by KingPsychospud7.)
- Fixed fires on moving walls not following the walls around. (Reported by KingPsychospud.)

- Made a small change that could help with client duplicate starting items, but probably wont.
