The Backrooms: Survival - P1
Hello!

We have released a new content update!

New mechanic: elemental enhancing of weapons:
-You can now enhance any weapon with one of three current elemental effects: fire damage, frost damage, and shock damage. The elemental effects are added similar to upgrading, find an elemental kit and then use it to bestow the effect onto the weapon. Every hit against an entity will then deal additional elemental damage!
-Every entity now has some elemental resistance/weakness to these three elements which affects the bonus elemental damage only, for example, the fire golem entity will take big additional elemental damage from a frost weapon, but no additional elemental damage from fire. Shark entities weak to lightning, and resist frost, etc.
-Added the three individual elemental enhancement kit items: Fire enhancement kit, Frost enhancement kit,
-Elemental kits can be found or bought from the general faceling vendors

Added a "safe level":
-This level can appear as any other theme, however, it is very tiny, has no entities, and usually has vendors and vending machines around. This level serves as a brief break and an opportunity to stock up on items. This level looks identical to level 0, however, is much smaller, brighter, has wider corridors and text will appear at the top of the screen stating you are in a safe level.

Added a new status effect and matching item: Drunkenness!
-Your vision will be temporarily blurred and your movement inverted, so don't party too hard in the backrooms.
-New item: HNT Wine. Restores a large amount of sanity and some thirst, however, inflicts drunkenness for a short period of time. Can be found or bought.

Added three new achievements for:
-Enhancing a weapon with an elemental effect
-Getting drunk
-Finding the safe level

Other changes:
-The previously added flaming crossbow now has fire enhancement by default
-Fixed the double musket visual bug
-Fixed a bug where loading your previous quicksave resets ammo in guns to 0
-Fixed a bug where entering the multiplayer lobby and leaving without starting a game and then trying to load a single player quicksave crashes the game
-Various smaller/minor fixes & tweaks (typos, visual/graphical glitches, etc)

The Exalted Vanguard update is now live!

Changes!
  • A New Crowd-Control based Class - The Exalted - Unlocked via Achievements!
  • Class ability rework - Almost all abilities have had some form of rework to be more intuitive and to fit the class play-style.
  • World design updates - Some areas of the map have been improved visually to remove negative spaces.
  • Mount System - Players will be able to purchase and name their mounts.
  • Sun & Moon Transition - A more seamless transition between day and night.
  • Moon shadows - Previously, the moon never had any shadow. Now the night will have its dynamic shadow.
  • Sprint is now toggle based - I know it can be painful to constantly hold down the sprint key while sprinting, especially for controllers. This should help.
  • FX Reduction - Some abilities had too many overwhelming visual FX.
  • New Quests & Updated Lore!
  • Weapon System Update
  • Atmosphere - Clouds and the overall ambiance of the game has had major improvements.
  • Steam Achievements! - Achievements have been added!
  • Enemy Buffs - A small amount of enemies has had a few buffs, while others have been balanced. Most bosses have been made stronger, with abilities to make fights more interesting.
  • Lots of bug fixes - With any new changes, there are usually hidden bugs lurking unaware. A majority of bugs found during testing/playing have been fixed.
  • Quality of life changes and bug fixes!

Hello there! Thanks to everyone who tried the demo during the Steam Next Fest, it was great to get all of your feedback and reactions! Today, we are releasing a new build update with a few minor fixes and tweaks and, while we’re at it, we might as well update you about the different changes that occurred over the last two weeks.

June 19th – 0.3.1
Of course we had to start things off a bit rough! Some of you were stuck on the loading screen when the game started. Luckily, we were able to identify the source of the problem rather quickly and deployed a fix the same day.

June 20th – 0.3.2
For a while now we’ve been wanting to improve this menu, but never got around to it. With this quick update, we take a couple steps in the right direction by adding a Wishlist and a Support button.


June 22nd – 0.3.3
Have you ever changed something and thought “Hey, that’s such an improvement!” then realized that you screwed up? That’s what happened with that menu. It had 2 issues:

  • Arrows and Enter keys were not an option to navigate (which we addressed with this update) and some people got stuck there, unable to start the game. When you’ve been using the WASD/Space bar combo for years, sometimes you overlook the simpler things.
  • It was not possible to use the mouse to navigate either, so we fixed that.
June 27 – 0.3.4
And to finish it off, here’s a list of all the little things we’re fixing in today’s update:
  • Various fixes to mouse navigation.
  • When exiting a mission from the pause menu, you will now see new nodes on the World Map.
  • The “Combo Ready” tooltip message on towers will now only be displayed on the tower that you currently have selected (usually the closest one to you).
  • When you complete a mission, you will now see the population gains you got as a reward in the Rewards Screen.
  • When you kill an enemy with the Spirit Drain Attack, you gain a shield to absorb damage. This shield effect is shown on top of the health bar. This bar was not displaying as properly filled even when the protection was maxed out.
  • Reduced camera shake in some situations.
  • Some items were blocking the path of the player and enemies in an Egyptian biome; this is now fixed.
  • Balancing changes to population gains and game objective.

Bug fixes
-Save files created during the "Evidence Obtained" message used to be corrupted. This would throw an Exception whenever the Save File is loaded. This has been fixed.
