We are rounding off the 1.6 Wings and Weapons update with 1.6.3 which introduces some small changes to the game and a whole lot of bug fixes.

Okay, now that we got the shameless marketing plug out of the way, let’s dig into some delicious patch-pasta:


  • Added new player outfits as part of the Airborne DLC.

  • Added new player hats as part of the Airborne DLC.

  • Added a Peaceful Sandbox option for Airborne.
  • Made Airborne Sandbox available without the need to complete the Campaign.
  • Added some more set dressing around the Airborne map.
  • Added a center marker to the Compass UI in Airborne.
  • Changed the name of the Passenger Seat to Chirpo Passenger Seat to avoid confusion about players not being able to get in.
  • Added the Large Jet Engine and Straight Suspension into the Airborne Campaign. (Removed Landing Gear from Block Crate since it is rewarded from Template Vehicles and Ruins). Large Jet Engine is a mission reward, Straight Suspension is in a block crate in Satellite Desert.
  • Improved the look of the Mission Started UI.
  • Added a “Hide Crosshairs” option.

  • Sticky Orbit has returned.
  • Improved the behavior around the Pirate Mothership mission when completing in Sandbox.
  • Added Airships category to Workshop.
  • Game will now also autosave after collecting a Block Crate.
  • Updated Template Structures throughout the different Sandbox game modes.
  • Downed Dogfighters will now go into a death spiral.
  • Increased the health of Dogfighters from 400 > 1000.
  • Reduced the Missile Explosion total allowed damage from 600 > 300.

  • Fixed an Inflatable Balloon with an initial inflation set but no binding not inflating.
  • Fixed a bug with specific weld group combinations causing structures not to float up when they should unless more weight was added.
  • Fixed the Detachable Block and Dynamite causing the Structure Button Hints to display as “Vehicle Unconfigured”.
  • Fixed a detached block creating the smoke and fire effect.
  • Fixed the Camera Viewport Gizmo showing up in a Blueprint if it was saved whilst visible.
  • Fixed a rendering issue with Decals and AMD GPUs.
  • Fixed the issue with structures travelling at very high speeds and the camera behaving incorrectly.
  • Fixed Quick Join repeatedly trying to put you back into a server you were banned from.
  • Fixed Quick Join not caring about the game mode.
  • Fixed the bloom on the fire from crashing Speeders and Zeppelins being too intense.
  • Fixed issues with Airborne Save Games growing too large which would lead to crashes when trying to continue.
  • Fixed cases of Chirpos floating in air after leaving a crashed Speeder or Zeppelin.
  • Improved Error Messaging when trying to use Spawn in Builder from Main Menu.
  • Missile now rotates with the launcher.
  • Weapons that rotate now reset their rotation when entering the builder.
  • Fixed cases where Chirpos wouldn’t enter seats if you transformed between structures in the pick up zone.
  • Fixed Disable Look Around toggle no longer working.
  • Fixed first person view behavior when upside down.
  • Fixed two Sandbox options being listed in Game Mode drop down.
  • Fixed floating Smart Cannon when connected to a rotating servo.
  • Fixed Tiny Cannon still auto aiming when set to 0.
  • Fixed a bug which would cause a Host to Oh No if a client with really bad bandwidth attempted to join.
  • Fixed missing colliders on trees around Airborne world.
  • Fixed issues with Block Input Overview UI when leaving the builder with it enabled and a high complexity structure.
  • Fixed issues with the camera not snapping back to its intended position if the player was moving the mouse as a cutscene ended.
  • Fixed a bug where Dogfighters would have a tendency to fly upside down. Show offs.
  • Fixed issues with cutscenes being skipped if a mission a client was on was completed whilst they were in the builder or map.
  • Fixed issues with blocks using Skins switching to the clean skin as they fell off structures.
  • Fixed the ramp.

On June 2023 Dev Notes, we are going to talk about big updates coming up in July before introducing the Ÿ quarter roadmap for the Korean server.

【 The New Co-Op Battle Boss 】

On the Global server, the new co-op battle boss, Tyrant Gigas will be introduced on August 9, 2023.

Tyrant Gigas will have strong skills and gimmicks, which will be more challenging than the Demolition Worm.

Now, before releasing the boss, I am here to tell you more about this boss in detail.

The most important point to remember is that during phase 2 after two minutes of combat remains when Tyrant Gigas start using its Special and Ultimate Skills.

This Special Skill will summon Tyrant Armor around Tyrant Gigas. If the CEO does not meet the hit count on the armor to pass this gimmick, the boss will nullify all the barriers within its effective area for 10 seconds while damaging everything on the field with a certain amount of true damage along with guaranteed critical damage.

Tyrant Gigas’ Ultimate Skill will nullify the barrier within its effective area and damage the units with true damage along with guaranteed critical damage. The units hit by the Ultimate Skill will be under barrier nullification for 10 seconds.

Tyrant Gigas’ enhancement by level is as follows

Tyrant Gigas’ special and Ultimate Skills that negate barriers will cancel barriers like [Esterosa de Chevalier: Near Astraea] have. This can be acknowledged as barrier reflux during the actual in-game play.

Moreover, with the appearance of the boss, we are going to change the co-op battle schedule from 3 weeks of active battle period and a week of break. Each season’s reward will be halved from the 8-week-long schedule and the increase in the elimination reward and cumulative reward will increase. Furthermore, after this update, CEOs will be able to get all the rewards after eliminating level 5 ~ 6 bosses to reduce the burden a bit.





Furthermore, starting from the next co-op battle season, the purification rate and the acquirable list of artifacts will show up on the battle report screen, which will ease hunting the boss more than it is right now.


【 Dimension Trimming 】

Dimension Trimming was originally planned out to be content where users can farm for high-level equipment. Though forcing players to manually play made the content unfriendly to the users.


Therefore, in mid-July gimmicks that require players to play manually will be adjusted overall to lower the stress of playing the content while giving more access to the equipment.


【 Substream Seasonal Episode and QOL Addition 】

[ World's most delicious and horrifying chocolate], [Fateful Summer], [Vice President’s Holidays], [ Winter Cabin Party], and other seasonal event episodes will be added under a separate category, Seasonal Records.

New seasonal episodes featuring from August 2023 will have their story updated after a certain amount of time.




Additional QOL features, such as showing related episodes while reading through each of them will be added soon.

【 Ship Balance Patch & Skill Seal Effect Adjustments 】

A ship is an element where it can actively engage and influence the outcome of battles. However, the skill seal effects were also applicable on ships leading to CEOs feeling helpless and cannot do anything under unfavorable conditions and even some CEOs thought this was a gameplay bug. To resolve this issue, we decided to give permanent immunity to ships from getting their skills sealed.

We also noticed, however, by doing so, New Ohio may be undervalued from this patch. As such, instead of giving the ship a completely new set of skills, we decided to buff its passive skill.

Before:

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +10%

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +15%

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +20%

After:

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +10%, Knockback RES +50% after deployment

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +15%, Knockback RES +75% after deployment

  • Enemy Soldiers' DMG Taken AMP +20%, Knockback RES +100% after deployment

Moreover, when Gleipnir: Pod Type’s first active skill, [In Static] and [Adv. In Static] is active, the area of effect for ASPD 50% decrease has been increased slightly. This will affect static bosses which will give a competitive edge to the ship in the PVE content.


【 Before the New Gauntlet Season 】

On both Courage Seasons, if you have achieved a league diamond 5 or higher, [ Replacer King: Overlord of the End World ] was given out, and the [Frame: Noble Will] will be given to those who had more than 1 special skin. This frame cannot be acquired by other means and will be mailed to you during the settlement period.



A new season, Sincere, will be opened with seasons separated into two. As mentioned in the last Dev Notes, leagues above Diamond 4 will be adjusted like the below.





During the Sincere season, SSR ships’ MAX DMG Taken Limit now also includes CRIT DMG RES as well. This buff will be applied on the June 28’s patch and may be changed or deleted through additional notice.

The reward for the 2023 Sincere season will be given to Amy Firstwing. Please look forward to her attractive yet deadly looks.


Her limited skin will be given out at the end of each Sincere season to those who ranked Diamond 5 and above. Although you won’t be able to check the skin right away when the season starts on June 26. We will make sure you can check the skin out when it is available.


【 New Substream Episode - Ethereal Moon Splitter 】



Another Nanahara episode after [The Sun-Calling Tracks], [Ethereal Moon Splitter] will be updated on July 5. This episode will feature [ Orochinagi Nanahara Chifuyu ] and [ Full Moon Nanahara Chinatsu ] depicting the danger that draws near the Nanahara Family.


【 New Mainstream Episode 9.5 - The Compassionate and the Heartless 】



Mainstream Ep. 9.5 will be updated on July 19. Please look forward to the episode as it will feature Sysop, [Levia Thanis], and other characters. Levia will be featured as a counter pass on July 26.

【 Other QOL Improvements 】


On June 28’s patch, CEOs will be able to select any equipment and see where to acquire the same pieces. Units that do not yet have the recommended equipment list will have their own, soon.



CEOs can find the list of added favorite operations through [Operation]→[☆]→[Change Order].



Lastly, on the PC client, a [Mouse Cursor] option is added. This will give an option to CEOs to actually use it on the client and to adjust the size if desired.


【 Prestige 】

[ A Blossoming Desire ] will end on June 27 at 14:00 (UTC-5). After a short break, a new prestige will begin on August 2023. The next prestige skin belongs to Tenured President Regina MacCready.

The following skin will be featured first on August 2023 first and the awakened unit, Tenured President Regina MacCready will be released on September 2023.





【 Origin Half-Anniversary 】

A preparation for the half-anniversary on August 2023 is currently underway. More detailed information will be announced separately.

In this devblog, we'll explore a new adventure feature called ‘Unique Scenarios’ and how they can impact the choices you make in the game.

Unique Scenarios
With the inclusion of Map Events in our game, we intend to add variety to the interactions that the players will encounter within the game. The Unique Scenario is one of these map events which adds flair to a run while also entertaining the players with a fun side story. First let’s go into the details and see what it looks like in the game:

During adventure, you may come across a room with a Unique Scenario and once your goblin party passes through the trigger event area, it will activate an event where it will present the player with a random scenario or you could say a short story.



In the current design, the unique scenario is represented by a rotating ‘?’. The minimap icon and interface are both works in progress that may change in the future.

Each scenario prompts the player to select one of several options, allowing them to decide how they want the story to proceed. These side stories do not necessarily connect to the main story, but the choices made by the player may have an impact on their adventure run depending on the outcome of the scenario.



A unique scenario is a risk or reward event in which the choices have either fixed or unpredictable outcomes. The majority of these choices are straightforward, but some are only available if certain conditions are met. Here are the different kind of scenarios and choices that you may find in the game:

Default Choices
These give a selection of simple choices with no requirements for picking an option. Any option you choose will provide you an immediate reward, such as a weapon or resources.


Chance-based Choices
The probability rate is random. Where there is a chance of winning, and it implies that you won't always succeed. The outcome is always based on chance.

 
Prerequisite Choices
Choices that require something from the player. If the prerequisite is not met, the choice will be grayed out, making it unavailable. Keep in mind that some choices have a chance to either fail or succeed.



The design and idea behind
The visuals and storytelling are important aspects of Goblin Stone. After drawing inspiration from other roguelike games, our game designer developed this feature to give each adventure run a unique twist. By Introducing these unexpected events or obstacles it will add up to the kind of fun and engaging gameplay experience that we wanted for Goblin Stone, making the game feel less predictable and more exciting.

Overall, this feature has all the makings of an exciting and unpredictable journey full of surprises. We're not stopping at event scenarios to bring variation to the gameplay. What’s new:
  • Nanomachines: These items can immediately upgrade one specific stat (Determination, aiming, stamina or luck), but ALSO, they are permanent, so if you don’t use them in one run you can bring them to the next one!
  • Vending and recycling machines: You can buy or sell certain items for XP in case you come across one of those!
  • Two new monsters: crawling zombies and human-shaped-mutated plants
  • 8 new rooms for the lab
  • Zombies have now one extra attack, they can grab you as before or they can try to hit you
  • Costumes now have perks: like no time limit for any mode, infinite ammo or 999999 XP mode.
  • Zombies now mumble stuff when they are idle
  • The PA system messages are now more prominent
  • Japanese readability font has been improved
  • The game creates a back up file when you save
  • Weapons now display their stats if you can’t carry them
  • Whenever an upgrade is available an over character head message will be display, along with a audio cue.
  • Changes made so the achievements “NO KNIFE” and “NO KILLS” are now easier
  • You can now activate an option to disable the introduction intro in the front-end
  • Now the minimap displays a player’s view cone so is easier to know where you are facing
  • Fixed some text cut in different languages
  • Fixed an problem on the Steamdeck when trying to override icons.
  • Fixed an error if you attacked the final monster right after the cinematic
  • Fixed an issue where spider venom would stop working after attacking
  • Fixed bug where zombies could get extremely fast
  • The layout of some rooms have been slightly modified to avoid different issues.
  • The bed sound in the initial room has been reduced.
  • There are a few known issues, like sometimes teleporting to the wrong side when opening doors or the blood of some enemies sliding after dead, which I cannot reproduce consistently so they will be pushed to later patches.

Topic #2 - Mutators + Elites
Based on feedback and discussions from the previous topic, we are in the process of planning the next series of updates. The community is split between wanting longer and shorter runs, so we are working on some ideas that may allow players to do runs of different lengths (both shorter and longer than the current run).

As part of this we are considering having various runs, some which may have a fixed set of mutators and/or elite types that can appear. So, for this topic we are interested in getting your feedback on the mutators you have encountered and elite affixes you have encountered (affixes are things like Deadly, Energy Leech etc).

How Mutators + Elite Affixes currently work
Currently during a run, we gradually add enemy affixes to the pool of affixes Elite & Champion enemies can spawn with for that run. This helps each run be slightly different and allow you adjust your deck since you know which affixes you will be up against.

For mutators, there is an encounter where you can get a random mutator, and battles themselves can also have a mutator attached. Mutators occur more often in higher difficulties and can change the feel of the battle quite a bit. Mutators are also defined as Minor Mutator or Major Mutator, depending on how significantly they alter the battle.

There are a few ways we could incorporate mutators/elites affixes into new types of runs, including:
  1. Have a series of predefined runs of different lengths and mutators. E.g you might start with one of these mutators, and then the next one kicks in after the first boss. So when you start a new run, you would actually choose which one you wanted to do.
  2. Like above, have a fixed set of elite affixes that can appear in these predefined runs, so you know ahead of time what the affixes for each run will be.
  3. We could also have variations of this, where you get to pick from a small set of mutators at key points in the run (you must choose one). We like this idea as it allows you to know which mutators you will have in the run, but you get to choose which order you get them in.
