Hey! New demo update came out. Some minor fixes and core improvements
New and added
Achievements. Do something, get something + experience. (Achieves can be seen from game menu)
Progression tree. Before it was available only after Regress, but now it's also available in session through Shrine shop
Added tooltips for disabled buttons, so it's understandble why they are disabled C:
Added some life to Mines, now they look like they are working, instead of dull static visuals.
Now experience multiplier is given for leveling up
Forge. Building from game's second part, Consumes gold, coal and ore, produces Iron ingots. Right now it's only for visuals, but i've planned to create new mechanics for such types of buildingss.
There was something else, but i forgot :C
Fixed
Broken saves after end.
Some collision issues
Reworked prices a bit
I think, that's all. Now the progression is more straight, because of rebalanced multipliers and additional experience sources.
Kuba from My Next Games here. Iāve been a little nostalgic recently. I think what triggered it is the upcoming 10th anniversary of me quitting my job and becoming an indie game developer. Itās been an interesting journey. When I started I knew it would require a lot of work. What I didnāt know was how much talking would be involved :D.
The life of an indie game developer requires you to constantly introduce your projects to new people. After a while you can do it in just one sentence. For the game Iām currently working on Hank: Drowning on Dry Land the phrase Iāve been using goes like this:
āItās a game about a time-traveling Batman-esque vigilante with an alcohol addiction problem.ā
If the person youāre talking to is interested, what usually follows is:
āOk, sounds cool⦠But how do I play it?ā
The obvious answer is the genre. This is also where the problem with Hank begins. It might sound stupid⦠but⦠I donāt know the genre of the game Iām making :( When I started to work on it I wasn't thinking about some other game I wanted to emulate, I just had an idea for an interesting time traveling mechanic that I wanted to explore. How do I answer the āHow do you play it?ā question then? Well⦠What I usually do is just show the footage of the game.
Although this answer is satisfying, unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. Modern gaming is built on the scaffolding of genres. Steam, Newgrounds, Itch.io, Striked wherever you go you use them to find games you might be interested in.
Weāve decided to do something about it. Today starts the Summer Steam Next Fest and Hank: Drowning on Dry Land will be included!
The short demo weāve prepared focuses mostly on showcasing the gameās mechanics. Yeah⦠There is some intrigue there (We couldn't help ourselves :P) but the story will be a much bigger part of the final game. Anyway you can play it right now and if you do - don't forget to let me know what genre you think our game is. If you'd like to also discuss it with us, drop by one of our Next Fest Steams. Here are the dates:
First Livestream Event Date: TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 9PM CEST Second Livestream Event Date: FRIDAY, JUN 23, 9PM CEST
In this broadcast, a pre-recorded play video is played repeatedly. You can see the story up to the point where the protagonist defeats the first boss. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
I am Japanese. I don't speak English, but I can read and write a little, so I reply by chat. It may take a long time to respond.

From across the plains of Cyrodiil comes a war trumpet's cry. The soul quakes as gilded armor, gleaming in the sun, cuts across the battlefield for the first time in uncounted centuries. Meridia's champion may have fallen an age ago, but those who venerate the Unfeathered still carry out his cruel will.
