Important news from our team! Firstly, the game changed its name to Deck of Souls, don't lose us. Secondly, watch our first trailer.
Deck of Souls is a souls-like roguelite card game with RPG elements. Create your own hero, extract souls of your enemies and make cards out of them, break through tough battles, die, and go all over again...
In Deck of Souls, you will:
Turn your enemies' souls into your cards and mix different classes’ abilities to uncover your true power.
Choose your hero’s capabilities and appearance, pick between several distinct classes, use the RPG elements and inventory system to your advantage, and take the proper outfit.
Make choices and decide the bosses’ fate. Execute them for their sins or spare them, so that they will come to help.
Add Deck of Souls to your Wishlist and follow to the Steam page, so you don't miss news and updates.
The Assault on Vondel Begins at Launch. Complete challenges to unlock new items not just for yourself, but also for the entire community, including a new melee weapon: the Tonfa.
New Weapons. In addition to the Tonfa, ready yourself with the Tempus Razorback Assault Rifle and ISO 45 SMG, both available for free in the Battlepass.
New Operators, Including Nikto. The masked ex-cover agent returns with a vengeance. Other Operators include a total badass working for SpecGru and [[REDACTED]].
Prestige Levels Continue, New Challenges Available. Reach Level 850 to unlock a special Weapon Blueprint.
Prepare for the Assault on Vondel Event
Nikto has arrived, and he’s brought company.
This deep-cover agent is taking over Vondel with his cloaked army of mercenaries; as an Operator, your mission is to fight back against Nikto’s clandestine army and reclaim the city in the Assault on Vondel Launch Event.
The Assault on Vondel Launch Event is planned to begin on Season 04 launch day (June 14) and last until July 7.
You can do your part by completing challenges, which will give you medals for personal unlock rewards as well as contributing to the grand community medal count total.
Once a predetermined number of medals are earned, features such as the Taxi Boats & Tramways, Reinforcement Flare Field Upgrade, the Favorite Supply Box (detailed above in the Warzone section of this blog), and the new rough-hitting Tonfa melee weapon will be unlocked for all Operators to take advantage of.
Five New Operators, Including Nikto
Both SpecGru and KorTac are getting reinforcements as the action expands to Vondel.
Nikto (Launch – Battle Pass)
The former FSB deep-cover agent was first spotted in Modern Warfare® (2019), using his menacing signature black mask to cover the disfiguration of his face caused by Mr. Z. A methodical and calculated soldier, Nikto is a natural-born leader who appears to fear nothing, with next to no gaps in his skill set as the ultimate soldier of fortune.
He worked with the CIA to hunt Victor Zakhaev in Verdansk, but since October 2022, he’s been AWOL… Until Season 04.
Now in Modern Warfare II, he leads a new special forces group that is taking over Vondel. Whether he is the leader of this group is unknown, but one thing is for certain: He will stop at nothing to ensure the city is his to rule.
Io (Launch – BlackCell)
Biographical intel for this Operator has been [[REDACTED]].
Ana Vega (Launch Window – Bundle)
The daughter of paramedics and Army reservists with family roots in Cuba, Ana Vega never had the opportunity to get to know her parents. Both were killed during rescue operations in the early days of the Urzikstan conflict.
The Gold Star child followed in their footsteps in attempt to reconnect with her fallen parents, graduating with top honors from the United States Military Academy and enlisting in the Army’s Combat Medic Specialist Training Program (CMSTP).
Proving her exemplary proficiency in combat and as a medic, she eventually caught the attention of her commanding officer, who fast-tracked her to a position on a prestigious Special Forces unit with the 75th Ranger Regiment.
After demonstrating her worth, she became one of the first female Ranger combat medics and was later tapped for Task Force Pineapple– a volunteer unit designed to get US assts out of Central-West Asia. During the operation, Vega was critical in saving several wounded allies from the brink of death due to an RPG, earning her a Combat Medical Badge in the process.
Inspired by the op and her parents’ sacrifice for the greater good, Ana now lends her services to more humanitarian efforts as she currently works alongside PMCs providing protection and medical care on aid missions around the globe…
And you better believe she is ready to take on any mission in Multiplayer, Special Ops, or Warzone.
Izzy (In-season — Bundle)
Biographical intel for this Operator has been [[REDACTED]].
Butch (In-Season – Bundle)
Biographical and visual intel for this Operator has been [[REDACTED]].
In addition, expect Farah to receive a new Operator skin for those who complete RAID Episode 04 later this season, an exciting conclusion to the Modern Warfare II Campaign’s direct continuation. By Season 04 Reloaded, expect something extraordinary to come to the Operator pool as part of the Season 04 Reloaded update…
Increase your Arsenal with Four New Weapons
Two versatile weapons and a martial arts tool highlight the initial offering of new armaments for Season 04.
Tempus Razorback (Assault Rifle — Launch, Battle Pass)
A masterclass in exceptional manufacturing, this Tempus Armament assault rifle features a bullpup design and frame-vibration control, resulting in a smooth and controllable full-auto 5.56 weapon.
Unrelated to an “earlier” version of this weapon with the same name, the Tempus Razorback Assault Rifle offers an impressive damage profile, rapid rate of fire and is set to add to the already deep pool of jack-of-all-trades weaponry.
How to unlock: Unlock in Battle Pass Sector D13.
ISO 45 (SMG — Launch, Battle Pass)
The ISO Platform’s answer to room clearing. This SMG dominates with a high fire rate and the stopping power of .45 Auto rounds.
A throwback to Modern Warfare (2019), the ISO 45 functions similarly to the old ISO, known for its lightweight design and decent fire rate for short- to midrange engagements. Its higher-caliber rounds make it a heavy-hitter compared to its fast-firing counterparts, but require the Operator to get those shots on target.
How to unlock: Unlock in Battle Pass Sector D19.
Tonfa (Melee — Launch Window, Assault on Vondel Event Unlock)
"This hard-polymer, edgeless melee weapon delivers blunt trauma without risk of dulling or breaking. Versatile, comfortable, and lethal in the right hands."
Centuries ago, warriors on the Japanese Ryukyu islands defended themselves using martial Kobudō — the “old martial way” using armor and weapons such as the bo staff and sai.
Another one of these weapons is known as the Tonfa. This wooden baton has a handle located roughly a third of the way down the weapon’s length. Dual-wielded, the Tonfa is a defensive weapon first (although there is no way to “block” in Call of Duty), but it is a powerful tool for dealing devastating strikes to your opponents.
In addition to having some new Finishing Moves, this new martial arts tool offers a unique change-of-pace option within the Secondary Melee Weapon pool.
How to unlock: The final Assault on Vondel Unlock, along with the “Lion’s Share” Weapon Blueprint.
Additional Armament: Expect the [[REDACTED]] Shotgun to be added to your available arsenal at Season 04’s mid-season point.

It’s time step up to Prestige 17.
When Season 04 launches, the Prestige Rank cap is set to increase from 13 to 17, with a new maximum level cap of 850. Each of the four new Prestige Ranks and 200 levels come with a new icon besides the number, as follows:
Prestige 14: Unlocked at Level 700. Prestige 15: Unlocked at Level 750. Prestige 16: Unlocked at Level 800. Prestige 17: Unlocked at Level 850 — this is the maximum level that can be achieved in Season 04. Players will also receive an exclusive Weapon Blueprint for reaching this Prestige Rank.
Remember that every Prestige Rank you’ve unlocked so far – and the additional Prestige Ranks available at the start of Season 04 – unlock a new set of Challenges. Complete these Prestige Challenges to earn new Calling Cards, including Animated Calling Cards for completing full sets of Challenges.
As before, all progress will not reset at the beginning of each Season. You can continue ranking up at the level at which you ended Season 03, whether it was before the Prestige Ranks (1–55) or within the Prestige Ranks (56–650).

The default branch of Starcom: Unknown Space has been updated to the Ganymede build, which incorporates the combined changes of several opt-in betas the players have been testing. This build is not save compatible with Draconis, but if you were in the middle of a playthrough, you can still finish it by switching back to the Draconis Rollback build:
As outlined in a recent blog post, Ganymede has roughly 50% more content than Draconis, and twice as much content as Betelgeuse (the first Early Access release).
While most players are having a great time with the update, there are still some issues. The biggest being there are some points where some players find themselves "stuck" and unsure where to progress. Sometimes this is due to the mission log being unclear, the player doing things in an unexpected order, or an outright bug. If you find yourself at a point where you can't figure out what to do next for any significant amount of time, check in the discussion forums. If your issue isn't addressed there, let me know.
Summary of the major changes since Draconis (with minimal spoilers):
Additional content, anomalies, missions, factions
Several new technologies and modules
Changes to skill checks, UI and numerous skill check anomalies
Changes to crew skill progression
Changes to various ship AIs
"Smart" autopilot can plot trip using fast-travel nodes
Player can allow autopilot to continue while ship menu is open (will pause if threats or unknown objects are detected)
New music tracks, changes to music triggers
New achievements (not fully tested)
New planet types
Void drag formula changes
Explored system void drag reduction
Changes to trade system, initialization, pricing
Changes to NPC drone squadron AI
Changes to sector/persistent coordinate normalization
Changes to NPC encounter generation
Changes to trade system
Player can rename crew members
Repair system now prioritizes surveyor module
Increased max thermal penalty from 30% to 40% and updated thermal analysis (which incorrectly had a max of 20%)
Procedural anomalies avoid choosing same anomaly in succession
Fully explored planets dimmer on map
Fixed duplicate log entries due to bug
Additionally, now suppress log entries with identical text (e.g., exact same conversation repeated)
Fix for music volume changes not persisting
HUD notifies player of XP progression and new missions
Fixed issue where survey lander path would go very wide after first launch
Fixed guns should now favor locked target, if any
Fix for null ref pooling exception in late game scenario
Changes VFX for several particle systems to eliminate a potential performance bottleneck
Adds experimental mouse steering option
Cursor changes when hovering an external web link (e.g., to the discussion forum)
Changes to content loading system
F8 feedback now can include latest save
Clarified several mission points
Numerous minor bug fixes and typos
As always, you can give feedback in game at any time by pressing the F8 key, or in the Steam Discussion Forums.
Thanks for playing Starcom: Unknown Space in Early Access!
We’re super excited to announce we’re continuing our partnership with Freedom Games for Dark Deity 2!
Working with them for Dark Deity, Freedom really impressed us with their dedication to our vision. With them taking care of the business-side, this takes an immense amount of pressure off our backs so we can focus on doing what we do best - working on Dark Deity 2 and making it the best game possible.
Freedom will continue helping us with a slew of important things, like managing our store pages and any console release process, as well as marketing, PR, and advertising the game, just like they did for Dark Deity, so we feel confident in moving forward with our partnership.
I want to assure you that we were extremely careful when considering publishing partners, and part of what makes Freedom such a good fit is that they aren’t looking to change our vision at all. We retain full creative control, which is obviously a big part of their identity as a publisher. They’ve already been incredibly helpful, and they’re dedicated to helping us bring Dark Deity 2 to its full potential, which I think is something we can all get excited about. We want to keep making games for a long time, and this is a huge step towards realizing that future.
As for our plans for Dark Deity 2, we’d like to talk about some different mechanics and improvements we’d love to make.
Terrain and Level Design This is, in my eyes, probably the most important change from DD1 to DD2. It’s well established that level designs could have been better in DD1, and the lack of a terrain mechanic really pushed the issue further. In Dark Deity 2, we’re taking many steps to make sure the gameplay is superb. To start, Terrain is in, with a solid but not overwhelming variety of types and effects. Additionally, deploy count and enemy count are both down across the board - we’re aiming for shorter, tightly designed levels with more tailored difficulty and gameplay.
Performance and Bugs Dark Deity 2 is completely rebuilt from the ground up, with none of the DD1 codebase returning. Making this decision added more than a year to our timeline, but I strongly feel it was the right move. Most people don’t know this, but Dark Deity was the first thing I ever coded, and thus patching and fixing it over time has become extremely difficult. Of the many lessons we’ve taken from DD1’s release, the importance of constant testing through the entire development process is near the top. It’s not going to be perfect - no game ever is, but we are working extremely hard to make sure it is as good as it can be.
Strategy and Readability Trying to figure out ahead of time what will happen in combat in DD1 can be a nightmare, most prominently due to dozens of percentage-based effects and the advantage system - both of which will not be returning to DD2. All skills and abilities that scale off of percentage will tell you the flat value in menuing, and the advantage system has been reworked into an archetype system that has very clear delineated bonuses. The systems, by virtue of being much clearer, give you a lot more agency in your strategic choices.
Gameplay Balance DD1 has a variety of balance issues, from the ease of low-manning or soloing to a huge gap in capability between characters and classes. With smaller levels, more potent enemies, and significantly lower stat aptitudes across the board, this is an area that we feel very strongly we’ve improved upon in DD2. The gameplay systems all lead to a more cohesive vision that allows us better control over pretty much every aspect of balance. We’re keeping a close eye on it, and have been testing all the player classes and characters from early on in development to make sure the balance feels great.
Story and Characters Early on in DD1’s development, we committed to the idea of 30 characters and 400+ bond conversations, something that bogged down our writing process extensively. We’re a really small team, and the sheer volume ended up allowing less focus for key moments in favor of getting it all done. We’re reigning back a lot of the quantity in favor of quality this go around, looking to deliver a more engaging story with a smaller cast.
Thank you Finally, there’s no other way to end this statement than with a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Dark Deity 2 possible. Thank you for all the feedback, all the support, and for putting us in a position to make a better game 2. We’re proud of the work we did with Dark Deity as our very first title, but we know just how much better we can do.
As always, thank you all for supporting us. You make every hour we spend developing this game immeasurably better. We really do appreciate having you stand with us on this journey!
If you loved Dark Deity and are excited for a Dark Deity 2, make sure to check us out and wishlist us! If you want to be kept up to date with progress on the game's development and connect with our community, you can check out our Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, or Discord!

Hi desert travellers, the 60% off sale for Sands of Salzaar that's right our biggest discount is now live for two weeks, together with new DLC discounts.
As we mentioned in the last blog, our regular updates following DLC 1 and 2 have resolved many of the issues concerning our players. With this new discount, we're also releasing our 3rd DLC, The Ember Saga!
For this DLC, we've taken greater inspiration from the more asked-for content among the community. Considering the current framework of the game, we've taken note of your ideas and 3 new gameplay features have been packed into this DLC based on that.
The Ember Saga is already available on Steam and will become available on other platforms too once they get approved there.
The Ember Saga includes three content parts; you may choose to activate either or all of these:
Ember Workshop: This comprises all-new side story content. As you progress through the story, you'll unlock the new features [Jewel Refinement] and [Jewel Fusion]. With these you can bring new life to jewels with good effects but low levels! There are new friends to be made as you continue through the story too. Invite them to join your party or learn new skills from them.
Child Rearing: A brand-new way to interact with the Tavern Girls! Having confessed your passions to your dearly beloved, there's a chance you might just start a new chapter in your lives together, and start a family. Experience the trials and tribulations of parenthood, give your time and attention to your darling child, and see what kind of person they'll grow into—it's all down to you.
Among Legends - Xin Qi Ji: This includes a new [Selectable Class]. Xin Qi Ji takes on an assignment that leads him into the Salzaar deserts. With the Profoundness Style in his repertoire, just what kind of story will he embark upon among those swirling sands?
🌆 Ember Workshop: When it comes to the Machinos Empire's history, this is but the tip of the iceberg.
Tales of ancient dynasties; stories of eternal cities; legends of the Old King: they're all waiting to be discovered, buried beneath the sands. As fragmented, fleeting rumors, they live on.
And it's with this that the Machinos Empire reveals a snippet of its expansive history.
Following the Battle of the Black Sun, various missing-persons incidents began appearing across the desert lands. A dark plague encroached upon the tribes. Thoroughly shaken by the peril upon them, they whispered rumors of a bizarre half-metal, half-flesh creature out in the deserts. Legend has it that the beast could never die.
Speculation rippled across the tribes' population faster even than the plague. Yet the elders, drawing on their wealth of lived experience, claimed this creature the Vitalus Vitara remnants' masterwork.
The Sultans, however, were wrapped up in the throes of war, unperturbed by such rumors and legends.
Husnu, the Nasir Sultan, was one such example. His concerns lay instead with the [Ember Workshop] craftsmen, as awaited their latest weapon with bated breath. What's more, he'd caught wind that [Cherry] of the Ember Workshop had been posting up requests across the lands. Husnu hoped that, this time, she'd be able to find a few people up to the task.
Having received Cherry's assignment letter, we'll set out for the Redstone Keep. There, she'll fill us in on the details, and so, our involvement with the [Ember Workshop] shall begin. (Keep in mind that Ember Workshop assignments are challenging indeed. Take them on only once you know you're prepared.)
We'll make a new friend as we complete the assignment tasks: Ember Ocher, owner of the Ember Workshop. She can join our party too, and aid us in our plight. Yet the one pulling the strings, an enemy most powerful, grows ever closer…
Two new features can be unlocked as you embark upon the Ember Workshop tasks: jewel refinement and fusion.
Use the Refinement Furnace to refine low-level jewels to enhance their power with all kinds of Magic Dust. (*Jewel dust can be obtained by salvaging jewels in the Ember Workshop.)
And with the Fusion Furnace, you can combine two jewels of the same level to form a random, higher-level jewel. If you wish to fuse jewels of differing levels, however, you'll need to first unlock the corresponding formulas.
👪 Child Rearing: Children—even more of a handful than the tribe members!
Succeed in confessing your love to the Tavern Girl of your dreams, and you'll have a chance to start a family with her; raise a child, and start a whole new chapter in your lives. (Fail, however, and you'll have to pick yourself up and try again.)
You'll need to get involved as she carries your unborn child, taking part in a range of interactions together, and shouldering parental responsibilities. (A range of different events will affect the youngster's development, and thus their attributes.)
Eventually, the wait will be over and a new life shall be born into Salzaar. It's then that you must name your child; a name that shall accompany them throughout the years as they grow. (So make sure to choose wisely 🙏).
Your newborn baby boy/girl will be cared for by their mother, but remember that you must visit often, too. Their development is split across four stages: Infancy → Childhood → Adolescence → Adulthood. In each stage, you'll need to make decisions that will influence the path their development takes. As you'll see, though, they'll go through rebellious phases. How you deal with their rebellion is up to you.
Your child will have sets of different character images and models for their Adolescence and Adulthood (also differing according to their gender). As they come of age, you'll also get another chance to customize their features, again altering their images and models.
Apart from their parents' skill pages, there's also 4 Bloodline skill pages for children to select from: Bloodline Combat, Bloodline Archery, Bloodline Magic and Bloodline Healing. (You can pick a Bloodline skill for your heir during the One Year Old event, and once confirmed, this cannot be changed once confirmed. Choose wisely!)
Bloodline Combat: A combat skill page focusing on Strength.
• Blade Force: Unleash two rapid slashes, each dealing Physical Attack x 0.75 + Strength x 1 damage. • Force Combo: Unleash Blade Force then three more strikes, each dealing Physical Attack x 1 + Strength x 1 damage. • Vortex: Deal Physical Attack x 1 + Strength x 1.5 damage per second to enemies within 350 cubits. • Slice Vortex: Unleash a vortex of air slices, dealing Physical Attack x 1 + Strength x 1.5 damage per second to enemies within 650 cubits. • Clone Rush: Summon four shadow clones to stab at the target, dealing Physical Attack x 0.5 + Strength x 1 damage to enemies in their path. • Clone Combo: Unleash a Clone Rush stab attack, then summon four shadow clones that stab forth to deal Physical Attack x 1 + Strength x 1 damage to the target and enemies in their path.
Bloodline Archery: A combat skill page focusing on Agility.
• Piercing Arrows: Fire an arrow that pierces enemies, flying 2,500 cubits in a straight line and dealing Physical Attack x 1.5 + Agility x 1.5 damage to enemies hit. • Piercing Arrows: Heavy: Piercing Arrows gain Knockback effects and doubled damage. • Scatter Hail: Fire 9 arrows, each dealing Physical Attack x 0.5 + Agility x 1 damage. • Scatter Hail: Retreat: You dash backward 800 cubits before unleashing Scatter Hail. • Web Shot: Fire a specially-made arrow that deals Physical Attack x 1.5 + Agility x 1.5 damage to enemies hit, then ensnares all in a 400-cubit range with a web. Those ensnared take Physical Attack x 0.2 + Agility x 0.5 damage per second, and are Slowed. • Arcane Web Shot: Web Shots summon forth a Toxic Spider Queen on hit, lasting 10 seconds.
