Call of War: World War 2 - Grayshine


Attention, General!

While playing over the last few weeks you might have already noticed the visual improvements to the game. This is thanks to our new Particle Effect system, adding more spectacular visual effects to Call of War.
Now there’ll be smoke rising from revolting cities, ripples of explosions as artillery shells impact and water jets straddling dueling warships. Directly observe the results of your actions on the battlefield, and marvel at the destruction!



With today's release, you might also find a new icon in your game rounds, that leads to the new "Operations" screen when activating it. This gives a first glimpse of the exciting new "Operations" feature that will be available to you and explained in depth shortly. Stay tuned for more info about this one!

We further improved the game with bug fixes. Units will no longer return to their starting position when adding waypoints from within the “Add Target” menu. Coalition invites now automatically expire when the coalition disbands, and Coalition leadership will again correctly be handed over to an active member if the leader goes inactive.

Hello again dear Time Travelers!

Back at it again with another update you dont want to miss!

The Cyberpunk Corpo Office asset pack is finally here!

We are also releasing the Weapon packs unlocked through the social media goals in the Wishing Well campaign!

On the technical side of things, with this new patch wealso address the issues some of the new users are having with the program. We also implemented the finished menus for the Effects Tool, Autobuilder, Export and Main Menus...Oh and there's a surprise new Export Option!
Lets quickly go over what's new in Version 1.4.1:

1.- Optimized Map Loading

Some users reported the game crashing on start up, likely due to a heavy memory use while loading. In order to fix this, we're now loading individual asset rendering data on demand whenever the asset is needed in the scene.
The crash issue isnt something we've been able to replicate here at the studio but we believe this solution should fix most cases of it. Beyond that, we recomment keeping your GPU drivers up to date and verifying the integrity of game files through Steam.
As always, we'll be available on Discord and the Steam forums, checking up with you in case more problems surface.

2.- Cyberpunk Corpo Office + Weapon pack assets!
Enjoy this new cyberpunk pack that will bring some life to your interior maps. Perfect to go alongside the Apartment and Bar environments! These types of maps are some of the most popular ones on the campaign and we cant wait to see what you create with them 👀.





With this we complete all of the promised stretch goals for the original Chronos Builder campaign! (Time really flies uh?). The art team is already hard at work on the Wishing Well packs.

Oh and speaking of Wishing Well, we are also releasing the futuristic weapons asset pack that was unlocked in the Wishing Well campaign! This one is also available to everyone!



3.- New UI Update!

As promised, we continue with our UI update, this time regarding the two missing Tool menus that were still using the old graphics!

Effects Tool Menu:
A far more simplified version in line with the rest of the UI.



Autobuilder Tool Menu: The advanced options now occupy a smaller space without the need for a scroll menu. Additionally, you will see thumbnails of the selected assets at the top, where you'll also be able to un-select them.



Export Menu: Finally, the export menu gets an update which makes it far more comprehensible through the use of different sub-menu tabs.



4.- And there's more!

New Fantasy Grounds export option!: You can now use the "Fantasy Grounds" option within the VTT Export menu, which will output an XML file alongside the map image.

New Autobuilder updates: We modified the way the autobuilder generates certain rooms so that some of them don't require walls. Such is the case with exterior environments. We also improved the algorithm to prevent items from spawning right in front of doors.

Attention, General!

In this update we addressed important bugs related to coalitions. We made it possible to automatically transfer the coalition leadership after the current leader went inactive or was destroyed. In addition, we fixed a bug when coalition invitations were not automatically deleted after a coalition stops existing.

We also fixed the problem that caused the main menu to disappear after clicking in-game notifications on mobile devices. With this fix, the main menu will remain accessible and visible, providing uninterrupted access to essential game features.

Greetings Lords of Rigel,

This update has some more fixes to user reported bugs, and AI improvements to build queues and colonization. Our next major quality of life feature for closing out EA1 is still a loading/saving system for the build queue.

Two of the larger quality of life improvements are the filters in the Empire (Image 1) and Planets (Image 2) menus. You can now filter controlled planets by if they are colonies, outposts, or have empty build queues. The top sorts do filter out outposts, but this makes it easier if you want to find a particular outpost or need to scrap them. The empty build queue filter also lets you easily manage your empire and enter into build queues or use autobuild.

The Planets menu filters include colonizable planets (removes asteroid belts and gas giants), habitable planets (ones with climates that support food production), mineral rich planets, and a gravity filter that filters out planets that would have gravity penalties based on your species traits. This should make it a lot easier for players to use filters and sorts to pick new worlds for colonies once they’ve explored the galaxy a bit.

For this week’s deep dive: the Yalkai!

The Yalkai play into the “blue space women” trope we see in a number of scifi franchises (Mass Effect, Master of Orion, Star Control, Star Wars). But in reality they are more starfish like predators that use telepathy and illusions (Image 3). As you’re a human player, you see the Yalkai as humans and not their true form. The Yalkai are feudal and have research penalties but gain bonuses to their ships. This is reflected in their larger, bulkier, ships and the large windows compared to Human ships hint that they are a bit different in their actual shape than what they show (Image 4). The arcs on their designs also hint at the true tentacle horrors that the Yalkai are. The Yalkai are not as great at ground combat as other species (minus the Ornithon who are terrible at it), but this is offset by their ability to use telepathy to outright take planets. From our initial concepts we wanted to keep a strong imperial vibe for them like the Centauri from Babylon 5 and an air of the Yalkai “keeping up appearances” (Image 5) to avoid them just being blue space elves.
