Ara: History Untold - Ara: History Untold
This week, the Ara: History Untold team is excited to share with you one of the features that we think distinguishes Ara from other turn-based grand strategy games – true simultaneous turns.

But what does that actually mean?

Ara builds on the classic turn-based formula, but each nation’s actions and choices resolve simultaneously - after all nations have ended their turn. Like the classic board game Diplomacy this leads to suspense, anticipation, and surprising twists that are not possible in a game with serial turns or real-time with pause.

During your turn, your orders, commands, improvements you commission for your lands, and goods you craft, are added to a queue. At the end of everyone’s turn, all of the Nations’ queues are then simultaneously processed, but of course in an orderly fashion. Otherwise, pure chaos! At the beginning of your next turn, you receive the reports and notifications of the results of your choices – and the visible choices of your opponents.

Where there’s a conflict, (for example, two armies from nations at war attempting to move into the same region) – the faster army (measured by their initiative rating) makes their move first, with the slower army then moving in second.

One of the key features we’ve added to support this approach is the timeline, which lets you look ahead to the predicted outcomes of your choices and adjust your plans turn by turn.

Ara isn’t the only game that’s ever taken this approach – but it’s the only one at the scale of true 4X Historical Grand Strategy. Of course, the gameplay possibilities for how this impacts your decisions as the leader of your nation are too numerous to list here, but we’ll be exploring some of them in our upcoming posts. Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts - DARTIS
Hi Admirals,

We have a new update with further fixes and polishes for the game. Some long standing issues of aiming should be now addressed and the temporary pathfinding errors caused by the Task Force zone mechanics should be now fixed, among other fixes and improvements of this update. Please read:

Hotfix Update v1.3.7
  • Fixed most if not all of the issues regarding map pathfinding and task force zones which could result in various bugs: Ships not moving, Ports not cleared up after being conquered etc.
  • Fixed the remaining issues of aiming mechanics, which were old, and lately became more evident due to ongoing work on fixing them. Now aiming progress will correctly reset when switching to a new target and aim progress will more smoothly and logically change according to bearing, range and maneuvers of the target.
  • Fined tuned the Battle AI after the latest fixes in aiming.
  • Improved the campaign AI to not spend too much money on building or refitting ships.
  • Auto-Design became even faster and more effective.
  • Fixed some minor UI issues.
  • Improved weather day cycle system to provide more daylight battles.

- Fixed, hopefully, all issues with Task Force movement in relation to their denial zones.
- Fixed Refit design interface not clearing up when exiting to main menu, and resulting to merge with custom battle interface causing invalid designs and various errors.
- Fixed an exception which could result in no funds gain after selling a used ship.
- Various other minor optimizations and fixes.

Uploaded Repaired version x3:
- Fixed, a few minor issues regarding task forces' movement and also improved the AI so that it can approach closer to enemies and trigger offensive missions more consistently.
- Fixed missions against minor nations not enabling properly. You will notice an increased activity involving the smaller nations.
- Improved the logic of Ungoverned territories so that major nations will try to capture them with much more probability and persistence, after a major nation dissolves.
- Fixed problems that made Ungoverned territories to be almost unbeatable in minor conflicts against them.
- Fixed a very rare exception which caused campaign generation to freeze or campaign turns to freeze during shipbuilding.
- Fixed some minor UI issues.

v1.3.3 Teammate Card, Cirno remake

New Card Type: Teammate

New Card Type: Teammate
After an unsummoned Teammate card is played, it returns to the hand, and it is summoned.
The summoned Teammate card will remain in the hand and trigger its passive skill at the end of your turn and gain Unity.
You can play Teammate card again, cost its Unity to cast its Active Skill and Ultimate Skill.



The last card in the store right now could be an ability or teammate card.
The exact odds are linearly related to the number of teammate cards in the player's available pool, and the parameter is now 0.15 (i.e. if you now have 4 possible teammate cards, there is a 60% chance that this card will be a teammate card).

Adjusted the random rules for card rewards.
If a rare card is not randomized in the reward card, its likelihood of occurrence will slowly increase until it resets when a rare card appears.
This mechanic was incorrectly applied in cases where cards were not dropped (e.g., cards acquired temporarily in battle, cards in events and stores), and is now fixed.

Cirno remake

Cirno old green card theme "Fairy Support" has removed and replace with Teammate Card.

The "Cold Armor" has been changed back to a version that reduces the number of layers when you take damage from an attack, and all cards that get "Cold Armor" have had their values adjusted upwards.

The " Frost Armor" has been revert to the version that reduces the number when taking attacks, and increase all "Frost Armor".

Monsters 'til Midnight - Retro Dreamer
This is a quick patch to fix a few specific issues that folks have been having this week:

Wrong contact damage for a specific enemy
Max weapon achievements weren't working when the weapon had been evolved in the same run
Active Ability Orb wasn't showing in collection

Current Plans

We're currently working on smoothing out the current difficulty spike around 10 minutes in the mansion, and on the back half of that zone in general. We're focusing on the mansion for now, but will be taking a look at the other zones once we feel it's in a decent spot.

We're also taking a good look at item buffs and permanent upgrades to hopefully make them more useful and appealing.

Lastly, we're looking into the best way to add an auto-aim option as mentioned in the last update.

As a two-person team, we really appreciate the patience and kind words as we work towards improving the game as much as possible. We'll be sure to keep you all posted on all of this as we make progress.

Hello everyone!

We've been hard at work trying to fix issues that exist within SHATTER, and we are happy to announce that today we just released the version 1.07 update for the game! This patch seeks to resolve many of the persistent issues that existed within the project, as well as address some balancing issues. We are going to continue to work on the game and strive to provide everyone with a game that is fun and enjoyable for everyone!

To those who have bought the game already, we just want to extend our thanks to you for supporting a small fledgling company and our first try at a product! Not only has the quality assurance team expanded, we have improved our methods and are continually finding new issues to resolve with SHATTER, so this is only the first on our roll out of updates!

Below is a non-exhaustive list of fixes we have made in this current patch:

  • Fixes to text box errors (spelling, grammar, etc. other issues)
  • Gameplay error fixes (player blocked going forward, backward, getting to chests, audio errors, etc.)
  • Balancing in certain parts of the game:
    1. Decreased encounter rate in the underground world portions of the map
    2. Added the items "Cure" and "Dispel Powder" to several shops in the game, as poison is an extremely prevalent status effect the enemies use
    3. Balancing certain enemies so that they interact with the game properly
    4. Increased EXP granted by random encounters in the latter half of the game
    5. Changes to some enemy magic skills so that they are more balanced
  • Changes to the SP and Skill Tree system:
    1. Changed all flat state change skills (such as "HP+100") to percentage values. Skill trees were not altered, just the effects

We are proud of the work we have done and are continuing to accomplish as a team, and we hope everyone will try out the newest version of the game and see the improvements that have been made!

As for the future, we would like to give everyone a preview of the changes that will be included in the next patch, which we are already hard at work with:

  • Audio issues to be resolved
  • Further tweaks to the balancing
  • Tile passability issues to be resolved

  • Fixed a bug where companion list indicated a companion being out of arrows / bullets when the companion had a shoot weapon in both weapon sets and the quiver had wrong type of ammo for the other set.
  • Level loot screen now remembers the last sorting method: by distance or by item type. (thanks to Level10Cybermancer for the idea) You can switch between the sort methods with F10 or NUMPAD MULTIPLY.
  • Fixed a bug with the "Lever Lover" achievement: now only switch room switches are counted for this achievement.
