Company of Heroes 3 - John_RE

On June 6th, our team is releasing the next update for Company of Heroes 3, Brass Leopard (1.1.5), which focuses on quality-of-life improvements, gameplay changes, bug fixes and more. We showed a sneak preview of this mid-sized update in one of our last developer livestreams. You can check it out here. This will be a high-level overview of everything coming in Brass Leopard, with more detailed patch notes releasing tomorrow.

Find all the details below, or you can watch this quick summary:

OVERVIEW
Brass Leopard will include:
  • A new 3vs3 map in Co-op Automatch, Skirmish and Custom Games
  • Changes to Gameplay
  • Quality of Life improvements
  • Audio improvements
  • Mod Tool improvements
  • Bug Fixes
NEW CONTENT
Brass Leopard will include the new 3vs3 map Catania Crossing, which is very reminiscent of The Scheldt from the original Company of Heroes.
  • This map will be available in Co-Op Automatch, singleplayer Skirmish, or via Custom Games.
  • This map will not be coming to Player vs Player Automatch.
Catania Crossing, though more Co-Op focused, was a map we worked on earlier in development and was already near completion. Since it was now ready, we decided to make it available to players to offer more variety as soon as possible. It was designed as a cooperative map for more social experiences, and not necessarily for the highest levels of competitive play. As such, we felt it best to leave it out of PvP automatch.

We know our PvP fans are eager to see more maps in the automatch pool, and we’re happy to say that the next update will bring two new maps to all modes. One is a 3vs3 and the other is a 4vs4. We hope to have more news on those soon.

GAMEPLAY CHANGES
All plane and loiter abilities have been overhauled, thanks in no small part to DevM (Miguel M). There are too many changes to cover here, but in summary, planes should look, feel and respond better, while maintaining the immersion we want players to experience in-game. Be sure to review the upcoming Brass Leopard patch notes for all the granular details.

Here’s a preview:
  • Plane timings have been standardized
  • Animations are more realistic
  • Crashes and debris have more impact
  • Terrain deformation from bombs & bombing runs is better
  • Projectiles are faster and more accurate
  • Paradrops are now invincible
  • Units acquired with a Mark Target ability now have an indicator
  • Loiters now display a ground indicator for their area-of-effect
QUALITY-OF-LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
We’ve introduced several quality-of-life improvements based on our Development Priorities map and the feedback we’ve been seeing from players.

Event Cues
Event cues have been updated to be more player-friendly and less intrusive with their on-screen real estate. They have also had their priority adjusted so that less important cues won’t override more critical ones. Additionally, event cue boxes will now allow players to click and select units behind them.

Player Names, UI & Team Colors
Units will now display the player name of their owner in the unit card. As in past CoH games, you can now bind a hotkey to toggle player names displayed under unit decorators. Player names under unit decorators can now be toggled on or off for the first time in the series – you can find this in the Settings menu.

We’ve also done a lot of work to unify how team colors and unique player colors work throughout the game. These will now apply to player names and unit health bars on the unit card. Territory flag and capture UI will now use team colors over unique colors to reduce confusion.

Players will no longer be able to instantly tell which Battlegroup other players have selected by checking the Player List. This will now display all the Battlegroups in each player’s loadout.

Camera Zoom
Based on player feedback, we’ve made some adjustments to the camera height while in a match. When you begin, the camera height will still default to its current position, however using the mouse scroll wheel, you can now zoom out an additional 5 meters. We feel this is a happy medium to give players some added flexibility while still ensuring the game feels like Company of Heroes.

Stability
Our team has done some work to help remove frustration that arises when a player desyncs from a match. Desyncs will now only disconnect the player that caused it, instead of ending the game for everyone in the same match. This should help with match and game stability across the board and alleviate griefing from players that purposefully force desyncs.

AUDIO
Several audio fixes and changes have gone into Brass Leopard. Many weapon and vehicle effects have been corrected or improved, such as the US Forces M1919 Browning, Sherman tank, and the Axis Flak36. The team continues to work to improve on the audio mix overall. We’ve also updated several intel announcements to ensure players are receiving the information they need during the most critical parts of a game.

MODDING TOOLS
This update will also include a small number of fixes to the modding tools to help reduce some pain points for our modders. Most notably, we are also introducing “ability achetypes” which are templates that can be cloned to easily create variations using custom properties. In plain English, this is a state tree workaround. We will include more details in the patch notes, but we hope these changes will empower our modders to create more complex and fun mods for players to check out in the near future.

BUG FIXES
One of our primary goals right now is to improve the overall quality of the CoH3 experience for all our players. That means we aim to bring as many bug fixes as possible in each update, and Brass Leopard is no exception. We have several fixes coming for maps, gameplay, art, audio and more to help bolster the game. Additionally, both the Dynamic Italian Campaign and the North African Operation will be getting several bug fixes for our singleplayer fans. You can find the line-by-line details and all the other bug fixes in our patch notes tomorrow.

CONCLUSION

Abiotic Factor - CrissCrossGal
Greetings esteemed colleagues,

During your time in the Facility, you may find yourself needing to venture out for crafting resources, ingredients and items you won’t find just anywhere. In fact, you’ll only find them outwards of anywhere. In this Status Report, we introduce Vignettes!

“We’ve gathered so much data since our first expedition to Anteverse II. It has become clear that there is a large entropy differential between our universe and theirs. This explains why their biota grows so fast here: the available energy is so much higher. It’s like a feeding frenzy.”
Suan Tengku - Report to Keystone, Sept 1991

Through the Portal

A central, if secretive pillar of GATE activity is the study of universes far beyond our own. In pursuit of this research, the GATE Cascade Research Facility has created what may best be described as a ‘massive multi-perforation’, leading to a host of alternate dimensions and strange destinations, both on earth (we think) and worlds beyond.

A Renewable Resource

While immensely diverse, these vignettes all have one thing in common. They experience strange fluctuations in time, a temporal tethering of sorts. While resources in an office – especially a secret, underground one – may be finite, resources in this myriad of destinations are abundant, and periodically undergo "resets" that replenish their supplies. So while it may be dangerous, perhaps even lethal, exploring through a portal will always yield reward.

Archive Interviews

Want to learn more about the GATE Cascade Research Facility? Follow our video series - the Archives - where GATE details the many strange things they store and study in their facilities. This status report, we'd like to highlight The Time Bomb, the first in a new series of interviews with your favorite GATE staff members - Abe and Janet.

When you descend into the GATE Cascade Research Facility you’re going to be facing challenges you won’t expect. Follow these Status Reports for tips, insights and strategies to keep you safe.

Orcs Must Die! 3 - IronPants
Greetings, War Mages!

This patch is focused on addressing the most common player feedback we receive. We’ve read concerns about trap damage versus player damage, and this balance pass allows players to get more traps into the battle.

We’ve also noticed some scenarios were trending too difficult in Rift Lord difficulty level and in certain Endless maps. We’ve made those fights a little fairer for the player. We hope to see improved scores and skull rewards in these areas.

Finally, we’ve added three maps to Endless mode, and we’ve fixed a host of rare but annoying crashes.
Please see the detailed patch notes below. Thanks for playing! We’ll be reading your feedback.

The Elder Scrolls® Online - ZOS_Kevin

Uncover the Shadow Over Morrowind with The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom and the Update 38 base-game patch, now live on PC/Mac!

This new Chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online saga introduces two new zones to explore, a brand-new class to master, and a sinister plot to uncover that threatens reality itself. If you play on consoles, don’t worry. You can dive into Necrom on Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on June 20.

This release also includes the free Update 38 base-game patch, introducing new fixes, additions, balance changes, and improvements.
Necrom Chapter
In The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, you can delve deeper into the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, explore the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha zones, and master an all-new class, the Arcanist. Necrom continues the story that began with March’s Scribes of Fate DLC, but you do not need to have completed the previous DLC to experience everything this Chapter has to offer.

Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha

Home to the cunning mages of House Telvanni and the city of Necrom, the Telvanni Peninsula’s towering mushroom forests might feel familiar to those who have ventured to other parts of Morrowind. However, in addition to the city itself, this new zone contains a host of unique encounters for you to discover in your explorations, including new side quests, world bosses, delves, public dungeons, and more.

Necrom city

Necrom also allows you to explore Hermaeus Mora’s realm of Apocrypha. While this mysterious part of Oblivion contains knowledge untold, be warned—many mortals have lost their souls while navigating its endless libraries.

In this Chapter, you can explore an all-new part of Aprocypha called Chroma Incognito, a region comprised of fates that never came to pass. This new area is unlike anything you have experienced before, including myriad hazards and secrets for you to discover. Learn more about Necrom’s two zones in this preview.

The Arcanist

Helping you tackle these new worlds is the all-new Arcanist class. The first new class added to ESO since the Elsweyr Chapter’s Necromancer in 2019, the Arcanist wields the forbidden powers of Apocrypha to deal damage, absorb incoming blows, and heal yourself or your allies.

In addition to three skill lines that allow the class to perform any role, the Arcanist introduces a new combat mechanic: Crux. When activating specific Arcanist abilities, you generate Crux, which you can then spend to empower other abilities. How you utilize this unique resource in combat can have a major impact on your effectiveness as an Arcanist. You can read more about the Arcanist class in this preview—use these new powers wisely!

Group Challenges

If you’re looking for a challenge, Necrom also introduces new group activities. Sanity’s Edge is a 12-player trial which tasks you and your allies with defending the fractured mind of a stricken member of the Mages Guild.

Sanity’s Edge trial

In addition, Bastion Nymic is a new kind of world event where groups of up to four can help the Prince of Fate reclaim one of his lost fortresses from mysterious invaders. However, even getting access to this hidden part of Apocrypha requires special items found only on roaming Seekers. Read more about these two PvE activities here.

New Companions & Rewards

As you venture throughout both zones, you can encounter new allies including two unique Companions, Sharp-as-Night and Azandar al-Cybiades. Both Companions can be recruited, leveled up, and equipped in this new Chapter, and each brings their own stories, combat skills, and questlines for you to unlock.

Necrom also features a host of in-game rewards you can earn as you explore and complete the game’s various quests and Achievements. This includes a series of new item sets (via crafting or earned from monster drops) and unique collectibles (such as the Berylglow Nix-Ox Steed mount or the Shroomtender’s Garb style).

Necrom zone rewards

You can also dig up new Antiquities throughout both zones (including three mythic items) and unlock a Tales of Tribute deck (Almalexia) that introduces an all-new patron ability and cards.

Getting Started in Necrom
Once you have access to the Necrom Chapter, you can travel to the new zone and continue your Shadow Over Morrowind adventure in the following ways:

Via Wayshrine

You can teleport directly to the Telvanni Peninsula by opening your map, selecting the Necrom zone, and then selecting the Necrom Outskirts Wayshrine icon (the only one active in the zone).

Via the Necrom Main Quest

You can acquire the Necrom main quest by navigating to your Collections UI, selecting Stories, and then Chapters. From there, you can select Necrom and pick up the first quest, titled “Fate's Proxy” to begin. The quest points you toward where you need to go to travel to the zone.

Via the Tutorial

You can also travel to the Telvanni Peninsula by creating a new character and completing the tutorial. At the end of the tutorial experience, you can select Telvanni Peninsula as your destination and begin.

Getting to Apocrypha

You can find portals to Apocrypha's two regions, the Endless Library and Chroma Incognito, in Leramil's base of operations in the Necrom Bindery. Travel east from the Necrom interior wayshrine and find the entrance past the guild trader's plaza.

Jump straight into the Necrom story

Don’t forget, there are no level requirements for any PvE zone in ESO, allowing you to immediately jump into the new content with any of your existing or new characters—have fun!
Update 38
Launching at the same time as the new Chapter is Update 38, a free base-game patch for all ESO players that adds quality-of-life improvements, fixes, and new features to the game.

Collectible Favorites

With Update 38, you can now designate favorites among your collectibles, moving them to the top of your Collections UI. You can choose up to 100 various collectibles with no limit on mounts, but some categories do not support this functionality at this time.

Random Mounts

Update 38 also allows you to set your active mount to either “Random Favorite Mount” or “Random Mount.” When either one of these options is toggled, activating your mount in the world then summons a mount from either your selected favorites or from your entire collection—mix it up!

Filleting Multiple Stacks of Fish

Tamriel’s many fishers can now fillet multiple fish simultaneously with Update 38. This can be done by visiting any Provisioning Station and selecting the new tab. You can still fillet fish one at a time from your inventory, but if you’ve got a huge catch, you will be casting more lines in no time.

New PvP Keep Messaging

Finally, Update 38 also introduces improved messaging for when a keep and its resources are claimed. If your guild owns a keep, the owner will be notified when its resource guards are killed.

These are just some of the new features and changes coming with the new base-game update. You might notice changes to the reset timers for Cyrodiil and Tales of Tribute campaigns and that the indomitable Stuga is less fanatical when it comes to chasing you down in the streets of Daggerfall, Davon’s Watch, and Vulkhel Guard. To review everything coming with this base-game patch, be sure to check out the patch notes on our official forums.
