  • Added a feature that allows players to skip Credits at the end of the game by holding a button.
  • Tweaked the dead zones and aiming for a smoother experience using a gamepad controller while using Flamberge.

  • Modified Hitstop timing for some enemies.
  • Reduced Hitboxes and sizes for some enemies.

Levels

  • Polished collisions for the second and third areas of the game.
  • Fixed a hidden chest that was previously unreachable in the tutorial area.
  • Fixed an issue in which the Interact Prompt would disappear in the Library Area.
  • Fixed an error in which players could see underneath the Map by crouching in the first area of the game.
  • Fixed an issue that would make respawned cricket bandits turn invisible after getting hit

Known issues we are still working on for future patches

  • Chinese localization has translation errors pointed out by some users, we’re currently working on fixing them on future patches.
  • Ultra Settings in 4K have some performance issues that are being worked on.
  • The Scholar boss sometimes ignores the players if they've skipped some checkpoint Chalices.
  • Changing tabs while in full screen in certain resolutions causes the game window to not behave properly.
  • Cricket Bandits occasionally freeze when jumping

What’s up Folks, the second DLC “Artisan and Magician” now has officially been released!
It contains two new heroes: [Zi Xiao] and [Nona]. [Zi Xiao] is a hero mainly focused on “strategy” and “Fortunate”. By utilizing his unique mechanism of occult scrolls reset and quality upgrade, players can optimize the triggering probability of powerful skill effects. [Nona] has an auto-battle partner named “Iron Wing”. When you were knocked down, don’t be nervous and Iron Wing with “Emergency Function” talent will come to save you at once.

There are also 4 brand-new weapons at the same time! [Brick], [Jet Octopus], [Wolf Gaze] and [Star Ring]. Hope you will like them!

When the moment is right, stars will heed his command, descending from the sky with a dazzling cosmic radiance.

[Zi Xiao] Skill:
  • Primary Skill(E): Falling Star
    Gain [Astrohouse] through obtaining [Astroaspects] randomly until slots are full, causing Stars to fall and deal DMG to enemies within a certain range according to [Astrohouse]. Afterwards, the [Astrohouse] is cleared. [Astrohouse]: forms by filling slots with [Astroaspects]. if [Astroaspects] are same, they form a [Normal/Rare/Legendary Astrohouse]; If [Astroaspects] are different, they form an [Impure Astrohouse].

[Nona]
Introduction:
    Adorable, Agile and Talented.Nona, who still retain a touch of innocence, had already constructed the outstanding mecha called 'Iron Wing'. Basing on its different core operation systems, Iron Wing can rush into the battlefield for close-quarters combat with enemies, or hold its position and transform into a turret for shooting at enemies. Besides her expertise in mechanical skill, she is also pro in forging meticulously crafted pistol.

[Nona] Skills
  • Primary Skill(E): Mecha Drop/Redeployment
    Primary Skill switches according to battle mode of Iron Wing.
    Mecha Drop: Iron Wing - Strike Mode charges into the target location, dealing 150% normal damage to enemies and taunts them for 3s within a 10m radius.
    Redeployment: Iron Wing - Fire Mode deploys in defensive position at the target location.


  • Secondary(Q):Hardwood Missile
    Fires a missile that explodes upon impact, dealing 500 DMG to all enemies within a 4m radius. Hitting on Iron Wing regenerates 20% of its HP .

Talent:
  1. [Armor Reinforcement]: +30 Max HP for Nona, +25% HP for Iron Wing.

[Bizarre Dream]

Two new-added options in [Bizarre Dream]:
(1)[Transcendent Arsenal]:Players will encounter an arsenal guard after clearing the vault in scene 3 and 4 or defeating the Pole Monarch. At this time, players can entrust the weapons they've collected during adventure to the arsenal guard for safekeeping. In a new game, players can retrieve these weapons when they meet the arsenal guard again. Meanwhile, the vault will become more dangerous, with previously unseen Demonic Aura Diffusion occurring. To facilitate weapon collection, players' weapon inventory will be expanded with three additional slots for backup weapons. To collect a desired weapon, simply hold down the pickup button to place it in a backup slot. Additionally, players can view other players' collected weapons in the team interface.
(2)[Ascension Fusion]: When players reach the boss stage in Longling Tomb, they can select Ascension from other heroes. The chosen Ascension will not be obtained immediately; instead, there is a higher chance of encountering it during subsequent interactions with the Golden Goblet. There are currently 24 Ascensions available for selection, with 6 options presented each time, and up to 2 of them can be chosen.

We have iterated on the gameplay of [Qing Yan], including aspects such as Talent, Ascension, and Spiritual Blessing.

Old: +50/100/150% weapon DMG in the next 5/5/10s when the number of hits caused by a single shot/slash is greater than or equal to 4/3/2.
New: The more hits a single shot causes, the greater the increase in Weapon DMG.
Level 1: +20%/40%/60% Weapon DMG for 5s when the number of hits caused by a single shot is greater than or equal to 1/4/8.

Tutorials
New tutorials will show up throughout the roguelite run, covering various aspects of the game including Spells, Elites, Combos, Evolving and Boss fights. These will help new players, but also highlight anything that experience players may have missed. The tutorials are short and to the point, so won't get in the way!

Bosses and Crystal Shield
We have created a new Crystal Shield spell to replace the boss version of Spirit Shield. There are a number of changes involved in this (read the notes below), but one of the main reasons is that this allows us to balance the boss spell and standard Spirit Shield separately.

In addition to this, the Necromancer boss has been updated, with more obvious visual effects when you successfully reflect a special attack. The effect of reflecting the attack is also more significant as well.

Blocking Aura
Blocking is one of the strongest enemy effects, so we have made it so it wont appear on bosses on Neutral and below difficulties. In addition to this, blocking aura and regen aura from enemies will not apply these statuses to bosses (it was never intended for the boss to be able to regain health).

Patch v1.2.4
General
  • The previously hidden Achievement “Master Summoner” has been removed, it was not intended to be available as yet and was for originally intended for an extra-hard level in the campaign (which was not needed since the existing hard mode is already very difficult).
  • The Spirit Shield spell has been split into two separate spells, a boss version and a standard version. The standard Spirit Shield no longer reflects boss attacks, for now the other stats remain unchanged.
  • A new spell Crystal Shield has been added as a new version of Spirit Shield that was used in boss battles. This new spell also features high damage reduction. Unlike Spirit Shield it does not have a chance to give energy on hit, however it as no energy cost. Note that Spirit Shield still exists as a separate spell but will no longer reflect boss attacks (only the new Crystal Shield spell will do this). This change allows us to balance the spells separately.
  • The Lich Boss has new VFX for when you reflect its attack to make it more obvious, we have also increased the effectiveness of the reflect to ensure it kills tough enemies and added a targeting indicator so you know which tile it will hit.
  • Updated the in-battle icon area so that icons will use 4 rows instead of 3, and reduced the size of icons slightly to handle when you have a large amount of upgrades.
  • Updated the description of the Fireling, to show that the attacks deal splash damage in a small area.
  • Updated the description of Heroic Transformation to mention that it also fully heals the unit it is used on.
  • Classic Campaign Troll Boss now gives the new Crystal Shield spell instead of Spirit Shield.
  • Classic Campaign Reaper Boss, Warlord Boss and Necromancer battles now gives the Crystal Shield spell as a bonus gift spell periodically (previously you were required to take Spirit Shield from your spell book to reflect attacks).
  • Updated the lane highlighting feature when targeting a spell, with an extra border for boss fights when tile you are targeting is currently the lane the boss is in.

Summoner's Path Mode
  • The first tutorial has been updated, and now excludes the Evolve part of the tutorial which is a separate tutorial. The spell part of the tutorial has also been slightly adjusted to show the detail about interrupting enemies in a separate tutorial.
  • Added a new Spell Tutorial that will show during a roguelite run after you get your first spell (excluding summon or evolution spells).
  • Added a new Elite Tutorial that will show near when you first do a battle that has elite enemies.
  • Added a new Mutators tutorial that will show when you do your first battle with mutators.
  • Added a new Combo tutorial that will show once you have your first combo spell.
  • Added a new Boss tutorial that will show during the first boss battle when you do your first reflect, or after you miss several reflects.
  • The compendium book button will now show in the loadout area during a run, this allows you to view the compendium at any time.
  • The Lightning Elemental attack has been updated to always travel straight down the lane, instead of shooting in a random direction when its target is killed.
  • Damage caused by the Electrified and Charged status effects will now show damage numbers.
  • Blocking Aura will no longer appear on the Troll boss on Neutral difficulty. Note that it already won’t appear on difficulties below neutral.
  • Blocking Aura will no longer appear on the Warlord, Reaper or Necromancer bosses on Neutral and below difficulties.
  • Blocking Aura and Regen Aura from elite/champion enemies no longer effects bosses (but a boss can still have this aura which applies them to the other enemies).

Balance
  • Magic Barrier spell cooldown has been increased from 30 to 40 seconds, and duration has been decreased from 30 to 15 seconds. This spell was overperforming against ranged enemies and could be kept up almost permanently. The spell is still just as effective, but now you will need to decide the best time to use it during a battle.


Fixes
  • Fixed a bug with the Gem Reward screen that could cause it to get faster and faster, eventually getting into a state where you could not continue from the gem screen.
  • Fixed a bug with the Classic Campaign Fiery Chase challenge level, in which the Aetherling’s were not producing energy.
  • Fixed a bug where the Magic Barrer effect would last slightly longer than the barrier itself.
  • Fixed a bug where the Totem of Aether incorrectly showed a status icon.
  • Fixed an error in the English text for the Oak’s Gift encounter.
  • Fixed an issue with the projectiles emitted from an enemy with the Electrified status, that could sometimes cause them to not hit enemies.

The “Field of View” system introduced in the last Un-Dev Note is a key system that enhances the mood and theme of the game. This is because the concept of “trying not to be detected by the enemy” was to be central to the “zombie/creature” themed media.

The Noise System, wherein a player must move quietly to avoid detection, that we will introduce today was developed for the same reason, but the role and goal of the system changed while refining the game. So today we’ll take a look at this process.



In early versions we wanted Noise to be generated in all situations that would entail noise creation in the real world and wanted this system to tie into the “Field of View” system in regard to detection.
  • When any Character moves
  • When the Enemy detects us or when they are killed
  • During interactions (opening doors, setting up barricades, opening items boxes, etc)
  • When using Weapons that create noise (throwing stones, explosive tools, etc)
However, our goal was to use the zombie/creature theme whilst blending the genres of Stealth and Tactical RPG, but not to create a full-on stealth action game, so the UI’s complexity became too high.

Although the visibility system led to the intended playstyle of “dealing lots of damage from outside the field of view”, factors such as “noise” being made when characters moved didn’t match the intention.

For example, if an enemy hears footsteps from behind, it would be impossible to make a surprise attack, so as a result, the satisfaction of one-shotting an enemy from behind or the stability of removing a threat without detection had to be given up.



As we mentioned in our previous post about the hit rate system, we were continually trying to make the game fun while maintaining uncertainty and minimizing any factors that had the risk of becoming frustrating.

From this point of view, creating an unexpected noise and having a creature jump out on you suddenly was an exciting variable and matched the theme, but the problem was that there was a risk the player might be frustrated for having been punished for not really doing anything wrong.

Therefore, currently, Noise creation is limited to tools which a player can use actively like throwing stones, or in other certain situations where we want this intention variable, such as when a Blister explodes or when a door is opened.



As a result of these changes, the feeling of “I have to try hard not to get caught” during gameplay has reduced in comparison to previous versions of the game, but it has been refined in a more positive direction which takes advantage of the players ability to use Noise creation tools like Stones to set up critical hits or create advantageous positioning.

Going forward we're going to take a look at the process of creating the Fun Factor in our game and the development process, and various factors related to that.
