Toy's Paradise - wutang

Hello everyone! I want to keep this as brief as possible when I say that I have been working tirelessly to make sure this game has working save states! This means that very soon I will be releasing the ability to save and load games, as well as many other features, including much needed UI improvements.

Thank you!

Tiny Dungeons Playtest - Dataspot
Hi folks!

I can't believe it's been 5 months already since I started working on Tiny Dungeons! Back in November last year, I had the idea for a small, randomly generated dungeon crawler game where the challenge was simply to stay alive for as long as possible. Since then, I've been chipping away at it in my spare time and the scope of the game has steadily grown.

I'm now at the point where most of the ideas for the game are nailed down, so I thought it'd be useful to share a roadmap with you all so you know what to expect over the next year or so. This is my first game, so it's been a fun, rewarding, and challenging experience. In just 5 months I've learned so much! I'm excited to get the final product out there, but also mindful that I'm doing this solo and I need to get it right. The last thing I want to do is publish a half-baked or broken game as my first-ever release! What that ultimately means is that the roadmap below is subject to change, and the timeframe isn't set in stone.

I'll continue to update the playtest on Steam as new features are completed so that people can play and provide feedback. Currently, I'm aiming for full release sometime in January - March 2024. I'll post an update closer to the time with the exact release date!

Tiny Dungeons - Roadmap 2023

  • The Sanctuary - Home of the mysterious 'Fortune Teller' and your home away from home. While most unfortunate souls who find themselves trapped in the dungeon desperately try to escape, The Fortune Teller calls it home. Nobody seems to know who (or what) he is, but it's clear that survival in the dungeon hinges on his help. Adventurers often travel to The Sanctuary in search of refuge, a warm meal, and a place to sleep. No monsters spawn there... it's rumored that The Fortune Teller maintains a powerful incantation that protects The Sanctuary and everyone inside it.
  • The Tarot Card System - As well as being a powerful sorcerer, The Fortune Teller is well-versed in the mystic arts and can bestow powerful blessings on adventurers in need. However, as with all things in the dungeon, his services come at a cost. For the right price, he will read your tarot, and the card you choose will grant one (permanent) blessing to aid you in the dungeon. But choose wisely! Not all tarot cards are equal...
  • Themed levels - The dungeon is a labyrinth full of monstrous and deadly enemies. Goblins, Ogres, Dragons, Skeletons, and more unknown creatures wait in the depths. Themed levels aim to group these creatures up, and present them in an environment that suits each of their types. For example, Ogres and Goblins would spawn on a Wildling-themed level, Fire Efreet on an Infernal-themed level, and Skeletons on an undead-themed level.
  • Companion System - Many adventurers enter the dungeon seeking fame and fortune, never to be heard from again. On your travels, you may encounter some of these lost souls. When you do, you can choose to recruit them (for a price) or direct them to The Sanctuary where you'll be able to speak with them later.
  • Trinkets - Even with The Fortune Tellers' powerful gifts, many adventurers still die. As you progress through the dungeon, you may find some of their lost possessions; magical trinkets that give small boons to the person who carries them.
  • Character Selection - Choose from 3 playable classes (The Beastmaster, The Sorcerer, and The Swashbuckler). The Beastmaster is accompanied by his fox companion who can hunt down enemies for you. The sorcerer has powerful magic abilities, although limited in range. The Swashbuckler has good melee damage, but limited ranged capabilities.

FAQ
What if I paid for access in the past?
If you had a Closed Beta Supporter Pass, a Slacker Pack, or a Kickstarter Founders Pack you should have Online Access already enabled for your account. If the game is telling you that you still need Online Access, please reach out to @CAKO in Discord here -> https://discord.gg/rushdownrevolt

Where can I learn about all the character abilities??
We have a placeholder character guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ev-SOW9E8sar6e_MyYivW5pGDmm0Xy7ncSe-YCrw8UU/

In-game guides are coming soon!

How do I unlock all characters? Do I have to pay for them?
No, you do not have to pay for any of the core 12 combatants. They are also all unlocked in training mode, in local play, and even in online custom lobbies. The only place characters are locked is in matchmaking queue to ensure new players have a proper introduction to the game and its characters.

To unlock new characters, simply play matchmaking games and a new character will unlock after every game is played.

Can I use any controller with this game?
Yes! You can use any controller you want. You may need to go into Steam Big Picture mode to fiddle with the settings to get it to work right for you, but all controllers should work out of the box (with a few exceptions - listed below.).

  • GameCube Controllers require the Zadig driver. GameCube adapters must also be plugged in before the game boots up. If the adapter is unplugged during the game, the game will have to be restarted.
  • Nintendo Switch Pro controllers require a special Steam Big Picture mode configuration that will prevent other controllers from working at the same time. Said differently: a single PC device cannot both have a Nintendo Switch Pro controller and any other controller.

What happened to old Gauntlet or Friendles Mode?
We're bringing back Friendlies and Gauntlet mode next week! They'll be combined into one "Friendlies" mode and there will be a lobby setting called "Recovery" which allows you to decide whether or not you heal between rounds - as was the standard way to play in Gauntlet and Friendlies, respectively.

Are more updates planned?
Absolutely! We shared the Rushdown Roadmap on Twitter: https://twitter.com/RushdownRevolt/status/1661436686901936128

  • Added Flasks, which can be purchased off vendors. These are used for transmuting.
  • Added new NPC dropped ingredients, which can be used to create potions via transmuting.

Showrunner - inexplicablegames
This update gives you the ability to train your staff! In addition, it adds a Staff Details screen which provides a little more detail on each member of your studio.

There are also a number of bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

Functionality

- Staff Training added. Different training types will provide differing boosts to specific staff stats on top of a random element depending on how well the training went. Training costs funds and reduces staff energy. More training types are unlocked through increasing studio level. Each staff member can receive training once per month, this amount can also be increased at higher studio levels.

UI

- Added Staff Details screen. Screen includes full details on current staff stat point scores and progress to next stat level, as well as procedurally generated staff description. Placeholders for staff skills and awards. Opening the Staff Details screen closes the Staff Sidebar panel. You can navigate to different staff details from within the Staff Details screen.
- The Character sidebar is now closed when opening the Character Details screen. You can navigate to different character details from within the Character Details screen.
- Added a CLEAR button to remove previously assigned character titles and revert the field back to empty.

Bug Fixes

- Fix for a crash that occured when loading a game that was saved when one show had stopped being made, but before a new show was begun. This lead to a crash as there wasn't a show theme set yet to determine what the stage should be. Now if there isn't a show theme set when loading a game, create a stage using the previous show's theme.
- Hopefully a fix for a crash related to the lead writer generating points. When you assign writers to an episode then close the screen the writers remain assigned, so if you then fire a writer you can still make them lead writer even through they aren't there. Firing a writer now removes them from the assigned writers list on top of the other lists. Did this for other job types to be on the safe side, although I think it already wasn't possible with them due to other checks.
- Fix for story interest changes (from themes that have a chance to give interest bonus for number of cards of a certain type) compounding over time rather than being reset to 0 for each episode.
- Fix for the 'No Moon' character combo not working correctly.
- The correct platform name will now be shown on contract renewal screens.
- Character Titles should be assigned to the correct character now (the one with the details panel open, not the one with the side panel open).
