As revealed during the 7th Anniversary Livestream, the world of Dead by Daylight is getting bigger. We’d like to thank everyone who’s been a part of this journey with us – seven years is a long time, and your passion has allowed Dead by Daylight to grow beyond anything we ever expected. What started as a single game has already expanded to include a mobile game, board game, and Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim™.
Now, we can proudly say that the game’s world is continuing to branch out in new directions with several upcoming projects set to explore The Entity’s Realms even further.
As previously announced, the Dead by Daylight movie will be developed in collaboration with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. As of now, the search for a director and screenwriter is currently underway. In addition, the first issue of the anticipated Dead by Daylight comic book series, published in association with Titan Comics and centering around the dark origins of The Legion, will be available early June.
On the gaming side, we’re thrilled to announce two new titles set in the world of Dead by Daylight. And don’t worry – even if you’ve never played a single game of Dead by Daylight before, both titles are being created for fans and newcomers alike.
The first is a brand new single-player interactive story game in development with Supermassive Games, the acclaimed studio behind Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry. Its narrative will be set outside of The Entity’s Realm, and follow an entirely new cast of characters as they embark on an unprecedented journey beyond The Fog. Look for more information to come later this year.
The second title is currently being developed by Midwinter Entertainment, who recently joined the Behaviour Interactive family in summer of 2022. This project is a multiplayer PVE game featuring teams of up to 4 players – we’ll keep you posted with more details as they come.
It’s an exciting time for Dead by Daylight, and we can’t wait to see everything the future has in store. Take a look at our official trailer below and stay tuned for further updates on everything we announced today. See you in The Fog...

Penny Larceny: Gig Economy Supervillain - Fiction Factory Games
For the last few weeks of the dev blog (because we're coming up on release sooner than you think...) I'd like to put a spotlight on some of the people who helped make Penny Larceny happen! This week, it's all about the art.
After initial character designs for the main cast were done by Molly Nemecek, we brought on board a two-member art crew -- Crowbar and Solient. Lines and color, respectively. An unbeatable tag team!
First, let's learn about...
Crowbar!
Heya, I’m Crowbar, a non-binary artist from Canada who has worked in TTRPGs, board games, and comics! I’m a full time freelance artist and when I’m not bringing others’ characters to life, I’m drawing my own, playing D&D, or riding my motorcycle.
Comics have always been the biggest influence in my art, from the likes of Trigun, to the reboot of Prophet, to all the webcomic labours of love out there. The need to get the characters in my head onto paper drives me to draw my own comics, and the labour pays off just for being able to share those stories. The skills I’ve gained from comics easily translated to Penny Larceny, not only for its obvious comic book influence but for being able to give an individual sense to each character’s expressions. I really enjoyed taking the character briefs, finding the characters’ key emotions, and letting that influence all their expressions and emoting. It’s been amazing seeing my art in action alongside the writing and how it lives up to the little scenarios and characterizations I imagined.
For this one, we'll go with an interview style to mix things up...
Tell me a bit about yourself -- your background, how you got where you are now.
I did video and multimedia work for a museum exhibits division for awhile, eventually realized I'm allergic to capitalism, and have roamed about in search of ethically harmonious work ever since. I found the pitch for Penny Larceny agreeable and very relatable!
How would you describe your art style? What do you enjoy most about it?
I'd call it "minimalist second generation westernized anime," as my formative influences were American comic artists that were in turn heavily influenced by Japanese media of the 1980s. I feel one of my bigger strengths, and one of the things I enjoy the most, is creating a sense of pacing in comics.
You're working on art for Penny Larceny! What was your approach to that?
I'm flatting and shading some of the art assets, so my goal is to make the work that I do match Crowbar's as closely as I possibly can.
What are some of your favorite games which have art you particularly love?
Griftlands, Slime Rancher, and the Monster Prom series all have character art and sound design that I adore. Guild Wars 2 has gorgeous 3d environments and loading screens, and the art direction for character conversations in core content is beautiful.
Where can folks find you online if they want to enjoy more of your creative work?
My personal website is https://deadcityradio.org/; folks can find just about everywhere else I'm at from there.
Another month means another update - Spiritforged. Spiritforged brings a new weapon and all new Spirit Masks as well as updates to the hub, new blessings, enchantments and more!
With the Link Blades, we wanted to introduce a new push/rush mechanic for the launcher which we look forward to watching you master.
And we're also delighted to introduce the new Spirit Mask system. We didn't just want the masks to be cosmetic so each mask also offers unique abilities for your run.
Oh and there's also a 10% Discount if you haven't picked up a copy yet - Happy Playing!
New Features
Spiritforged - V0.7.04
Unlock 4 Skills from a spirit’s Skill Tree to obtain a gift which allows you to change your looks and obtain special powers.
Equip your Spiritforged powers at a newly added extension to the Sanctum. These powers can also be upgraded using Dormant Embers.
New Weapon - The Link Blades
A new weapon is now available: the Link Blades. This weapon has multiple attacks with sweet spots and possesses new launcher mechanics - Pull and Rush.
Launcher Pull: Hold the Launcher button to build range (similar to the Astral Cord Bow), release to send one of your blades in that direction. Shortly after the blade attaches to an enemy, it will retract back to your hand and pull non-shielded enemies with it.
Launcher Rush: When your blade’s Launcher attached to enemies, press Launcher again before Launcher Pull occurs to fly towards the blade’s position and perform a follow-up blow.
This weapon was designed to be at peak efficiency when the player who yields it possesses high technical skill, and requires 4 Combat Runes to unlock.
Weapon Moveset:
Neutral: A quick uppercut attack that comes out fast and puts you in the air
Side: A 3 hit combo that sends you spinning into the air. You can press down while spinning to affect your height. Landing during the 3rd attack of the combo results in an additional slam attack.
Up: Fling your blade upwards and then downwards, sending enemies above you flying into the ground.
Down: A slower attack that packs a punch. This attack has a sweetspot.
Gameplay / Additional Features
Spiritforged outfits and powers added for Sharbora, Mishved, Yamphas, Solesh, Navolik and Kelumin.
The Sanctum has received some layout changes to accommodate new and upcoming features. Coincidentally, Tipp has been working hard on restoring a blocked passage, which acts as a shortcut between the eastern and western parts of the Sanctum.

Balance Changes
Astral Cord Bow: Neutral and Neutral air-attacks have slightly reduced startup and recovery. Down Attack slightly increased hitbox and stun duration.
The radius in which Hop can be performed on enemies (footstool) has been decreased, this will result in less accidental footstools but you will now need to be more precise to execute them.
QoL / Miscellaneous
When you are offered a blessing that was never selected before, a codex icon will appear next to its icon. This can be useful for those who want to fill out each spirit’s blessings list and increase their codex completion progress.
Pressing Jump + Dash at the same time will always result in Wavedash,to have more consistent execution. Pounce horizontal speed multiplier slightly increased. Due to the Wavedash buffer you now need to wait for a couple of frames before jumping to execute a Pounce, otherwise a Wavedash will be executed.
Game speed can now be changed by 5% intervals instead of 10% in the accessibility menu.
Assist and Bolt now have separate sound effects that indicate when their cooldown is over.
You can turn on an “interactable” sound cue in the accessibility settings, which will play a sound when the player is within range to interact with something in the game world (NPC, blessings, etc.)
Bug Fixes
Fixed a new emerging bug with the Cold Presence blessing.
Fixed an animation bug with the Waterspout synergy blessing.
It was previously possible to keep your resources by ending the run early. It is now required to play a run to completion (or defeat) in order to have run progress saved and earn the collected currencies.
Fixed a bug that caused some animations of shielded enemies to cancel even though their attack continues on rare occasions.
Fixed a bug that prevented enemies from being stunned when hopped on using the Hop skill.
Fixed some interactions in which hitboxes could be registered more than once when not intended to.
Slain enemies cannot be glaciated by the Glaciating Frost blessing.
