Content: Hello there! I wanted to take a moment to share the progress we've made on RXC.
I've been diligently working on finishing up a few vehicles that I started a while back. We've got the Jinx, Hero, and Wolf, each with their own tiers of progression. These vehicles bring different driving characteristics and handling styles to the lineup. It takes some time to make them game-ready, but we're committed to delivering the best possible experience.
My approach is to blend features I love from real vehicles into these cars. It's like creating a mashup of the best elements out there. Now, adding unique liveries to each car does take some extra time, but we believe it's an important aspect. We've got a list of vehicles ahead, and I'm carefully selecting the ones that are essential to complete RXC for the 1.0 release.
Speaking of 1.0, we have some ambitious goals. Our aim is to provide 16 tracks with six variations each, including their reverse versions, totaling 192 race layouts. Some tracks are nearing completion, while others are still in the early stages to determine if they're enjoyable. Once a track passes the fun factor test, we move on to finding fitting themes and adding the necessary support objects. Tracks are a vital part of the game, as without engaging layouts, the vehicles lose their purpose. It's all about striking a balance and investing time wisely in each.
While the current player count in the online multiplayer lobbies may be lower than anticipated, it's essential to remember that our game is still a work in progress and has not received the full marketing push. This will happen just before 1.0 launch and hopefully will bring more players to the community of RXC.
We've made great progress so far, but there's still work to be done. Keep an eye out for future updates as we work to make RXC even better!
- Patrick
Features: Hey, everyone! I want to fill you in on the software development and feature implementation side of RXC. It's been quite a journey working on this project.
One of the areas I've been focused on is the challenge system, and it's almost ready to roll. These first challenges are point A to point B races against the clock, complete with leaderboards. Initially, each rally challenge will be assigned a specific vehicle, adding a bit of competition.
Now, let's talk about control remapping. It has been a bit of a challenge, to be honest. It's like playing whack-a-mole, where one issue gets fixed, but another one pops up. But fret not! Progress is being made, and I'm getting closer to resolving these control remapping quirks.
Additionally, I'm revamping the replay system. This upgrade is crucial for introducing ghosts on the leaderboards, allowing you to compete against other players' previous performances. It's a great way to bring some healthy competition and prevent cheating. Plus, it'll enable players to save their replays for later enjoyment.
In terms of the updated career mode, we're working on the design. We're planning championships with points and more varied events. We will be incorporate some challenges from the challenge mode to spice things up. Of course, there will be a bunch of new vehicles and tracks, courtesy of Patrick's hard work. Integrating all this content into the career mode requires careful planning to maximize its potential and make the career engaging.
It'll be a little while before we update the AI. We've been working on developing a new AI system, but it makes sense to wait until the new tracks are ready for AI training before we complete the rewrite of the AI. This way, we can ensure that the AI performs optimally on the all tracks and provides a challenge for players of all skill levels.
The same approach applies to the final car tuning process. We're addressing aspects such as high-speed stability, balancing cars within the same group, and tackling any funky handling characteristics some cars may have. To achieve a cohesive and balanced gameplay experience, it's best to wait until the car list is complete before diving into the retuning process. However, the future trucks and buggies have distinctive attributes, so we can proceed with the car tuning without having to wait for their completion.
By carefully planning the timing of these updates, we can streamline the development process and ensure that all components of RXC come together seamlessly. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to create a game that exceeds expectations. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to make progress on these aspects of the game!
