Spirited Thief - ZeddOTak
Hello everyone,

My name is Simon Nowak and I am the solo developer on Spirited Thief, a game I have been working on for about two years and a half. It's been quite an adventure and I got to learn lots of new things along the way!

First, allow me to introduce you to Spirited Thief, a tactical stealth game where you need to steal treasures by playing a Spirit and a Thief (thus the name!).


The first phase with the spirit (Trin) lets you explore the place. When the infiltration begins with the thief (Elaj), use the information you gathered with Trin to avoid the guards and steal everything you need in order to complete your mission. Each level is a mission, with its own objective(s) and motivations.



Making a stealth game

The stealth genre is truly something I love and whenever I can, I always play stealthy characters in games that allow it. However, I can get frustrated when stealth gameplay often translates to "never get seen or you lose". I feel like there is more to it than restarting or reloading every single time something unexpected happens.

To me, stealth games is about information. You need to know as much as possible about your enemy if you want to avoid direct confrontation: where they are, what they do, what they may do... while preventing them from doing the same about you!


But this is also true on a strategic level: where do I have to go, which places should I avoid, what should I do, where is my target, what are the biggest obstacles... I feel that this is not often the spotlight in stealth games. Yet, crafting your plans to pull off a heist despite dauting security measures is one of the most satisfying things to do!


Unsurprisingly, this is one of the main focuses in Spirited Thief. Because Trin's a spirit, you can explore the map entirely at your pace before starting your infiltration but there's a catch: you better make good use of this headstart, because you're gonna need it when you run out of time!

What to expect from Spirited Thief?

A lot of challenges! The story of Elaj and Trin is divided into three Acts and will explore their strength, shortcomings, friendships and how they play the cards they are dealt with. You will face multiple enemies, boss fights, puzzles, and strange security devices... that you may be able to turn to your advantage!


One important thing to me is to encourage players to experiment things, because this is how you learn to play Spirited Thief. Of course, things will go wrong and this is totally fine! Small mishaps can be dealt with and you can even salvage big fiascos (to a certain extent of course). Play with your limits! One of the core values of Spirited Thief is to allow the player to tailor the game's difficulty to their need: the sweetspot where it's rewarding and not too punishing.



In addition to that, at any moment you can adapt the difficulty of the game to your needs: either by choosing a preset or by changing a few specific things.

Survive the Nights - a2z Interactive
Hey now, hope you’re all well. We’re moving our latest build to the default branch today. We’ve been cracking along on quality of life improvements and putting polish on current features over the last couple of weeks. We’ll be separating QoL updates out with a few big ones coming in the next couple of months. This update puts some polish on our inventory system, introduces new weapon features and a new weapon.

Please note: We'll be doing a data base wipe on existing official servers. We're introducing new weapons and attachments and feel it would be a good time to clean things up. We've not had server reset in some time so this should freshen up the world.

The MK4
We’re introducing a new weapon in this update. The MK4 has quickly become a favorite among the team. It’s smaller than the ARG, faster and takes 9mm ammo. The MK4 can be fitted with all of our sights, suppressors and flashlights. Along with these attachments you’ll be able to attach an extended magazine, burst fire mechanism and the fully automatic mechanism. The gun is a good deal of fun and a monster when it comes to taking out hordes.

If you’d like to jump right in and check out the MK4 straight away a good way to do that would be to check out our Nazi Zombie scenario. You can find this scenario in the workshop. It’s a good deal of fun, the current team record is 10 waves let us know if you can beat it!

Updated Weapons
Model swaps aren’t a massive task but a rather tedious one and they can be very time consuming. Andre has made some great progress and we’ve swapped out (4) of our current models. The Rauser Rig (9mm), FRKS (auto shotgun), R-6804 (sniper), lola (.45) and The Bateman.

Along with these model swaps we’ve made improvements to animations and animation timings. Speeding things like reloads up just enough to make general gameplay feel more fluid. We’ve introduced new audio sets for quite a few of our weapons as well, they sounds much more lively especially the Bateman! :)

Firing Mechanisms
Full automatic firing mechanisms will now spawn for some of the weapons in our game. The Rauser Rig, ARG15 and the FRKS will get the option to accept a fully automatic mechanism. The Rauser Rig and the ARG will also receive burst fire attachments.



Inventory Improvements (Weapon Attachments)
We’ve been working on inventory improvements and the next build will feature some really nice ones. The biggest addition here is the ability to quickly view, add and remove weapon attachments right on the right side inventory page (main tab). You can also now equip and close the inventory allowing for quick access to weapons and weapon changes/attachments.

We’ve made numerous smaller tweaks including tweaks to the FPS skin, updating the sleeve textures and increasing resolution on the skin of the hand.

We’ve increased the feedback on empty clips/rounds as players felt sometimes it could go too unnoticed, just at the wrong time haha. You’ll now notice the ammo icon flash letting you know you better reload or run.

We’ve made it easier to exit the lock UI screen, you can simply click anywhere on screen (other than the lock) and it will clear now.
