Recently I have been acquiring ancient knowledge and techniques of… mushroom picking. Yes, you may oink oink but it's very serious! My friend told me that if I get the wrong mushroom my stomach will hurt and I will be sick! I really don’t want to be sick, I love eating!
So, after getting all the instructions I decided to go with Grandma to pick some mushrooms. She said she will make a tart with them. A tart! It is almost as good as her famous cherry pie!
Grandma took me to her special spot where she always gets her mushrooms. I was honoured that she shared with me her special place. We all know how those mushroom collectors can be…But you know, what? There were no mushrooms! Empty field, full of flowers but no mushrooms!
Grandma was very surprised and started to wonder if she didn’t confuse something on the route. We decided to go home and maybe look around the path. As we turned back Grandpa jumped in front of us with a whole basket full of mushrooms!
“Aha! Here you are!” he said. “I made you a surprise and decided to do all the work for you so that you can relax! And I will even make the pie for you!”
Grandma was all very happy, but I wasn’t. Not only I didn’t get to use the ancient techniques of mushroom picking but also Grandma is the best cook of them all!
On the way back Grandma was singing and laughing a lot. I think Grandpa’s surprise made her day! I think that it is the most important thing. Next time I will collect all the mushrooms and make the tart and make everybody happy as well!
Oh, and one more thing! On our way home, when we were not looking for mushrooms anymore, both me and my human friend found a few of them!

Yet another small update with more bug fixes, this time mostly addressing the issue where some players couldn't continue their game after coming back to it and were given a broken start button instead of the new game/continue buttons. This was due to how the game checks for corrupted save files. In some cases if saving is interrupted it's possible for the game to save an empty file, which isn't technically corrupted, so the game would treat it as a valid save file which would break everything. Now the game properly treats an empty file as it would a corrupted file, and will load the backup save.
Do you think anyone will notice if I just copy the last paragraph again? Hello gamers, First, thank you very much for your support during and after the NEXT FEST! It was breathtaking!
Today, I would love to share some info about BZZZT development. There has been a lot coming in the last two months.
All special abilities are implemented. There are 5 of them - one for each world. It means a player can unlock them continuously by using upgrading machines.
Together with that, I had to expand the number of levels from 50 to 60. I did it because ten levels per world did not allow me to introduce new gameplay features and traps fluently enough. So, right now, the learning curve should be less aggressive.
I have changed the native resolution of the game. Players can see more of the environment around them now. It allows them to react to deadly traps in advance, and previously unexpected traps and enemies hidden behind the edge of the screen are now fairer.
I have increased the main character's walking speed by 10% - the game is now more dynamic.
I am starting to implement cutscenes and other story animations. It can be seen in this video:
Ane even more - Luckily, I saved some time and added some environmental animations to the game. They are not essential, but I feel the game environment can be more living with that.
