● New command: Load Subscene - Dynamically load multiple sub-scenes into the main scene, allowing random combinations.
● New command: Unload Subscene - Unload all objects related to the specified sub-scene from the main scene.
● Add "Pointer Events" property to all elements - Enabled: trigger pointer events for this element normally - Disabled: disable triggering pointer events for this and descendant elements - Skipped: disable triggering pointer events for this element and allow triggering pointer events for descendant elements
● New tag: Dynamic global variable - Automatically update the text content when the variable changes
● Text and button elements can use <global variable> and <dynamic global variable> tags
● Command upgrade: <Show Choices> can use variable tags
● Command upgrade: Set Number -> Object -> Tilemap - Width/Height (new properties)
Most players could not find the hidden items, leaving them with only 1 per level! This limits the clutch factor and the amount of fun, so I have added 2 more easy to find items per map (max of 7). For the completionists, I put the locations of all items on my website.
The menu interface has been improved so players have the option of skipping levels. Prompts have been updated, level overlay option is added, and there is now an option to reset prompt history.
Lastly, I added 4 more achievements that can be completed by simply entering the tutorial and entering each of the mazing levels. Other details below.
Major bug fixes
Dynamic shadows and burning enemy particles were causing flashing lights. This has been fixed.
Fixed issue where you would sometimes get twice the score and money from defeating a single enemy.
To my knowledge, the fatal error crash has been resolved.
Features
Settings menu has more options. The default value for always showing tower level will be off.
Character visual upgrades can be made earlier now. They are intentionally expensive so players will get them later.
Prompts
Star threshold info screen updated to be more clear.
Prompts have been updated to help new players. Rereading them by clearing the prompt history may be useful for existing players too.
In summary, I want players to know that rushing waves gives a lot more points, and that you’re free to skip levels to see later content if desired.
Level changes
Tutorial waves have been modified so first time players are able to see every enemy type. I am hoping this will pique the interest of new and existing players.
Cost of unlocking levels has been increased slightly. Mazing levels are no longer free.
New challenge level added. More coming in the future.
I named the levels after seasons so its easier to differentiate.
Balance changes
Evolved basic tower buffed.
Evolved pierce tower buffed.
Item strike damage buffed.
Stun tower bonus damage to bosses nerfed.
Max tower level changed to 14 (for those playing endless mode).
HyperLeague Heroes v3.0 is live now and there are tons of new features and enhancements. The updates will be detailed across several posts. The first feature I'll cover is perks and formations.
Each character now has 3 unique perks, the one that activates depends on where that unit is in the formation.
Example: Singe boosts the crit rate of nearby heroes from the frontlines, gets increased speed from the center, and all adjacent heroes get +50% more exp when Singe is in the back. Remember that you can only have one these perks active at once so you'd have to place Singe where you need him most.
Units can be rearranged on the fly and as much as needed so you can adjust your tactics to the current situation.
Here are some more example perks:
-Vito / back - adjacent units take 30% less ballistic damage -Nurse / center - allies recover 2x more HP when healed -Ice Age / front - freeze all enemies for 15 seconds when landing a crit -Gunslinger / center - standard attacks do 1/2 damage but hit all enemies
You can also right-click to see fighter details such as the unit's perks and which perks they're being affected by.
Units now also have two types - ranged and close quarters. Close quarters units do full damage from the front, 75% from the center, and 50% from the back. Ranged units do 100% damage regardless of where they are in the formation.
At the same time -
Your teammates are targeted according to how close they are to the frontlines. Units in the front are very likely to be targeted, units in the back are unlikely, so it's important to take your unit's bulk into account when choosing your formation while also considering the damage they'll do given whether or not they're ranged or close quarters.
That about covers it for perks and formations, next time I'll cover character tiers.
