Striving for Light - Deventide
With update 0.8.2.2 we are improving the Shard of Refund - Respec algorithm so that the shard should actually be able to refund every valid skill that does not disconnect other skill nodes from the origin.

Actully we are really excited about this new algorithm as this was not the most straight forward feature to implement. It took several iterations to make it working for all thinkable complex tree shapes and node connections. Previously you would find yourself using a Shard of Refund and the skill node would simply not be refunded if you had bad luck and the validator algorithm which is crawling along all the active branches of the skill tree got stuck on a dead end. The new algorithm should now be able to crawl the complete tree no matter how much dead ends and how complex the shapes and connections are.

This is the new algorithm in action:



The feedback we have received and also the gameplay we watched mostly showed that the Shard of Refund was the least used skill tree shard. Especially in endgame scenarios most players probably have given up hope that the Shard would actually work on important branches as the tree simply just got to complex for the old algorithm.

The new algorithm might now make the Shard of Refund an acutal useful tool to revert some early run decissions and respec depending on your weapon drops and how the skill tree evolves. Even in endgame scenarios you should now be able to rely on the Shard of Refund to fine tune your builds.

To celebrate this we have also implemented a new respec sound and visual effect that should make respecing feel more impactful and fun.



We have also implemented this effect for the Tree of Light.



Bugfixes:
  • Keybindings have been fixed and can now be accessed in game from the pause menu --> options menu.

🎯 [Misc] Most maps in Act 2, and all Continuum Event cave maps, have been revised. They are now composed of long windy thick connected tunnels.
🎯 [Performance] Non-essential item loot filter checks (such as those used for rendering) are now managed by a background thread. This should serve to increase performance/reduce lag.
🎯 [Performance] Performance has been improved for most of the maps in Act 2.
🎯 [Balance] Scout-type summons now move closer to their targets before they start shooting, making them behave more like dog fighters than snipers.
🎯 [Bug fix] There was previously a need to re-equip the ship after spending points into the Founders skill "Molten Metals" for it to have an effect on on-board turrets. This requirement has been removed.
🎯 [Bug fix] Conditions are now sorted according to type when evaluated. This should remove many of the weird character stat sheet updates that have been observed - some work on this topic likely remain.

Hello,

With the most recent update being more than 4 months ago there is an obvious air that the game is dead. However this is not the case!

We've been working on the 1.12 update for the last couple of months and hope to release it within the next coming weeks! This update improves and fixes many things including modifying the core gameplay of the game.

So although its taken time it will arrive.

Bellow is a list of changes coming soon in the 1.12 update:
Added Santa Hat Cosmetic
Added Scar Cosmetic
Fixed bugs with timer
Changed timer so that the employees lose if the timer ends and the blight is stil alive
Changed the timer to be 8 minutes
Changed vault keybind to space
Fixed players being able to get stuck in spots or escape the map using the vault mechanic
Fixed spectator mode being stuttery
Fixed spectator mode camera from clipping
Added hints for new players
Changed the blight kill zone from neck to chest
Increased max player count to 12
Update Blight vision
Improved death scene
Added new avatars
Optimisations of some models
Add button for viewing market
Made spectator view accurately follow the spectatee's camera movements
Made the flashlight accurately represent the users view for other players
Updated Blight skin
Massive performance improvements
Updated & improved various materials

Stopped jump indicator from being stuck while spectating
Fixed an issue where the screen would be stuck on white upon start
Add indicators to show where tasks are
Blight now blends in with employees before their first kill
