Single Player
  • Greyboxing is in its final stages for the dungeon we’ve been working on. Next will be the modeling phase, though we won’t be starting immediately since we’re focused on the town buildings for now. Here’s a sneak peek at the greybox version of some of the rooms in this dungeon! (Note: The lighting isn’t final.)

  • Modeling for the houses is coming along really nicely! The exterior of the first house model for this town is complete, as is the ivy we showed off on Twitter last week. Now that the materials are further along, the rest of the houses should begin to progress more quickly!

  • We’re starting on the concept art for a handful of important human characters in the game’s story. We’ve also updated the human crouching and sneaking animations.

  • The base models for child NPCs are nearly complete. We’ve also started modeling several clothing assets and hairstyles for them.

  • Concept art for Big_Bandit, as well as the colors for Tender_Foot and Briar_Stomper, have all been finalized. Next, our concept artists will be working on the action and expression pages. (Correction from the last newsletter: Tender_Foot was listed as a Null Type, but is actually an Air Type.) We have finished models for both Little_Bandit and Briar_Heart! Rigging has started for Bashful_Strider and is still in progress for Wailing_Weed (who is especially complicated on the rigging side). There are a few combat animations left for Puddle_Hopper, and Tide_Walker has joined them in the combat animation phase.

  • One of our main focuses for concept art has been an important building for the game’s story that can be in multiple states throughout the game. We’ve just finished the exterior concept art and are most of the way through the interior for one of these states. Once that’s finished, we’ll be doing concept art for the interior and exterior in other states. We’ve also finished concept art for a few major set pieces.

  • We’ve been working on some new vfx that we’re really excited about! Once completed, we’re looking forward to sharing it in a newsletter.

  • We’ve built out the terrain for the area outside of town. It was important to keep multiple level design constraints in mind while sculpting this, and we’re pretty happy with the result!

  • We’ve added logic for your teammates to react to new types of events that occur at camp. We’ve also added some new camp dialogue sequences, including the interaction from the end of our Kickstarter Trailer. (Bear in mind the exact dialogue will depend on the individual Kinfolk and dialogue choices you make!)

  • We fixed the settings for our Overworld map, which had a few issues after we shifted the origin coordinate to be closer to the center of the map.

  • Our new Hierarchical Task Network AI is fully implemented. We’re looking forward to the following benefits:
    • Streamlined editor interface.

    • Greater separation between the sensory layer, decision making layer, and Unity monobehavior layer of our NPC AI. This makes our AI decision making much easier to unit test and debug. This will help us spend less time debugging and more time polishing NPC behaviors.

    • Unit tests that cover a majority of the decision making process.

    • Runtime AI editing. This allows devs to modify many parameters of the NPC AI in runtime, which greatly improves iteration time compared to how we previously needed to frequently hop in and out of play mode to make changes to the AI.

    • Streamlined workflow for creating NPC combat AI. In particular, Summoner teams with combos that involve swapping characters benefited the most from these changes.
  • We’re continuing to write logic for specific story missions in the single player. This has been one of our major focuses for dev work recently, and will probably continue to be for at least a few more sprints.

  • Now that we’re finished setting up the basis for the ability pools that we mentioned last time, we’ve started implementing them. It’s a relatively large change that impacts a lot of our other code, so the process has been involved. The improvements to performance will make it well worth the effort!

Eden's Last Sunrise - Space Lizard
Hello! I have been preoccupied with the console versions, recovery from a hack, and a much-needed vacation, and I recently (as in, today) became aware of some glitches that the last Unity upgrade might have introduced in the previous update. I have hopefully solved them all with today's update, but please don't be afraid to post or message me if you notice anything that looks wrong - I don't bite!

Here's what I've addressed today:
  • Fixed the trajectory of thrown projectiles to appear less erratic.
  • Fixed an issue where the play time clock could incorrectly count up at a faster rate than intended.
  • The Engineer class will now correctly begin with the Construct Barrier skill. This is not retroactive, but the skill has been changed to cost 0 Mastery so it can be acquired anytime as intended.
  • Fixed a render issue with the commander records screen.
  • Fixed an issue where visiting characters would appear super tiny!
  • Fixed a graphical glitch with choice hotkeys during visitor dialog sequences.

Shardpunk - bryqu
The release date is so close I can taste it.

And I know that at this point one should not be making any major changes. So I haven't. I mean I did, but they're not major.

One of the key mechanics in Shardpunk is the weapon reload process, where energy cells overheat and players must cool them down to keep the weapon functioning. Previously, this action was simply referred to as "reloading."

After receiving some feedback and consulting with my Discord community (do join the Discord channel, by the way!), the action has been renamed to "vent":



This made the whole weapon overheating concept a little more readable. Also, some changes in character texts followed:





Other than that, I'm keeping the build stable and focusing on preparing for the release. My mental state may be a bit shaky with all the anticipation, but I'm confident that Shardpunk Verminfall will be a game that you will enjoy!

This is a minor update designed to address some common issues users have reported experiencing.

General
  • Fixed - Corrected inconsistencies when using Downthrust with "Auto-Downthrust" disabled.
  • Fixed - A potential softlock during Tinker Knight's boss fight where he would not exit the hatch.
  • Fixed - A bug in Mushroom Mines where Propeller Rats could drift off-screen and cause a softlock in an ambush room.
  • Fixed - Limited the frequency of save writes to prevent excessive writing to the storage medium.
  • Fixed - An issue where Blitzsteeds could get stuck in floor collision at Drill Knight Castle.

We've had some time to analyze the data from the new server from the previous patch and have made some adjustments and optimizations to help improve the stability and consistency of the communication with the server. Please keep in mind that any architectural or server related (backend) changes will come with a risk of problems that may occur. We will be monitoring the connections once the patch goes live. Should any issues arise we will troubleshoot and resolve as soon as possible.

2 - Also in this update is the initial setup for the returning online beauty album. Upon first launch you might notice a short delay accompanied with the following text "Checking Player Beauty Album Data Status...". Know that this is the initial setup for the returning Beauty Album coming in TROS with players beauty album data being migrated.

1 - New Easter outfits have been added to the Costume shop.

4 - New Dribbling Basketball Emote & new Backgear added to the Event Crate along with returning Event Crate cosmetics.
5 - Shard Shop Cosmetics have been refreshed.
6 - We have made an adjustment for the earned gold from the Grinders (Portable and Stationary). The spreadsheet below shows the previous and new gold values for the Portable Grinder (Stationary simply adds 10%). The purpose of this change was to help address the balance of gold across the players experience focusing on increasing the amount of gold earned earlier where players needed it and reducing the gold earned later where gold is plentiful. We've also made similar changes to the upgrade cost for the grinder to reduce the cost earlier in the gameplay experience. This change also represents a smoother and consistent increase in gold levels from the start of the playing experience.

KNOWN ISSUES (WILL RESOLVE WITH HOTFIX)
------------

1 - The basketball object from that emote can get stuck to the maiden's hands in some circumstances (e.g. assign it to a keybind, start the animation, then immediately stop it after the basketball appears)
2 - Right-clicking to buy emotes in quick succession causes multiple debits (might be an old bug; I only found it when re-buying some emotes)
3 - Sexy Bunny wetness slider effect is really subtle; almost can't tell a difference when set all the way to 0. Possibly by design.
4 - On first launch, one of our testers experienced being "On Duty". Could be unrelated to the build. Easily fixed by going to the terminal in the base.
5 - We've found an issue with the addition of the new emotes that conflicts with existing Emote save data. For this reason we will need to reset Emote configuration information which includes any positioning, sequencing and expression information related to your Emote Manager. After the new update any configuration to emotes that you previously had saved will need to be redone. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will look to avoid this issue (now that we are aware of it) in the future when adding new emotes.

This game's not dead yet!

-Changed Dementia Crab to start at the beginning when restarting instead of at checkpoint, to prevent reset abuse.

-Disabled the charged jump camera zoom when having flight, as it was often nauseating and/or disorienting.

-Added doppler effect to Dizzy Crab to enhance the experience

-Changed the visuals of Dizzy Crab's sky to be even more weird

-Made the music lower pitch and backwards when playing as Dark Crab

-Added *crab noises* variants to Speed Crab and Fancy Crab

-Added actual noises to most of the *crab noises* variants
Moonflower - Cats on a Lilypad Studios
A minigame tweak has been released in todays update!

Based on player feedback we are bringing forward part of our planned update for Moonflower!

The Minigame has been updated to expand Skylar's instruction as well as add a help guide for the combinations possible, usable ingredients also now have a hover state.

There are two levels of guidance now, a new help button, which will give a more vague hint if you're struggling but still want to figure it out yourself, and by clicking on the open book a recipe guide will pop up showing all the possible combinations and what they make.

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great day!
We are releasing a super update to our game, where we made improvements to the game quality, fixed bugs and problems reported by you players:

- Shooter orc collision issue;
- Being able to start the game without orcs in the selection box;
- Spear thrower's spear collision problem;
- The disappearance of the back button in the gallery room;
- Balancing of very strong enemy units.

Many thanks to everyone who played and for your feedback, as we are a small team it takes a while to fix all the problems, but we hope that the improvements will make the game more enjoyable for everyone.
