Trailmakers - alexirons92
During the past weeks we’ve talked to no end about what the Trailmakers: Airborne DLC will include. But some of you feel left out under the impression that the extravagant update will only benefit people who pay for the DLC.

So let’s go over ALL the things that EVERYONE will receive for FREE in patch 1.6.

Is your plane tipping over? Are you having difficulty taking off? Well, now it’s going to be easier locating the problem. The Center of Forces visualization gives you clear insight into your vehicle's weight distribution, buoyancy, thrust and more. For the hardcore Trailmakers who would rather figure it out themselves you can easily disable this.

Get ready to have a balloon party You can now mount your vehicle with inflatable balloons for that direct vertical ascend. The balloons can be inflated and deflated at your will for precise altitude control.

The party balloon is… well a balloon. Use it for extra lift or make the house from Up. As always, your imagination is your limit.

Did you forget how you mapped your block inputs? Us too, sometimes. But fear not. In 1.6 you will be able to toggle Block Input Overview for a detailed overview on how to operate even your most complex creations.

In 1.6 you will be freed from the shackles of only 8 camera angles. Mount camera blocks on your vehicle to get a customized view of your driving, flying, sailing or diving.

Use it to look behind you to accurately fire in a dogfight chase, place it below for better view in your bombing runs, or whatever else you can think of!

We’ve already talked about this but many thought this was purely a DLC feature. Well, it’s not! Aiming receptacles with adjustable aim assist is coming to ALL players in Trailmakers, bound to make your brawls more interesting.

This is not an aim bot but an aim assist. It will vaguely predict where your enemy is and where they are going. But a skilled pilot will be able to dodge without issues.

Guuuuuuuuuns! Mini Guns have made their way into Trailmakers and their name is ironic because honestly they’re anything but mini. They’re fast and can quickly dismantle an enemy vehicle in a hail-fire of bullets.

Put Bomb Bays under your aircraft and drop early Christmas presents on unsuspecting ground enemies (or airborne enemies if your timing and aim can handle it). But if you prefer to bomb things in front of you the new Rocket Launcher might be the better pick.

And this is what it’s all about, right? Wings, tailfins, and ailerons with adjustable flaps to build an agile and stable aircraft. In a flying context, these parts are self-explanatory.

These are among the things coming for free in the 1.6 updates but not all. Keep an eye out for more news.

Happy Trailmaking!

Subverse - BNKRD
Dear Fans,

One more release under our belt and we can finally start seeing the light at the end of the proverbial gamedev tunnel! It comes as no secret that we have Blythe still to come, and our attention is focused solely on ensuring that her story gets the proper treatment. Most of the team is now working on the last parts of the main storyline, after which we will be able to tackle some of the more requested rebalancing and progression issues as we near version 1.0

In the meantime we want to thank you guys for the messages of support provided, your energy and passion means a great deal to the team!

ANIMATION
Moneyshot

This has been a busy month of supporting other members, not just my own.
Creating the final storyboard scenes, sex animations, and rigs to get things started. I also helped on the tail-end of things with some lighting, problem solving and rendering.
This week I am working on the Blythe foreplay scene that should give my physics-skillz a good challenge.

Manski

This week I've been working on cinematics as the Subverse plotline approaches its final chapters. I was asked to set up this cinematic as "bloody", "violent" and "edgy" as possible, so I threw buckets of blood, gore and destruction everywhere. Very therapeutic.

Massimo Decimo Meridio

In March, after giving a final pass to a threesome Pandora scene including our beautiful Sova, Elaisha and the Huntress, I moved directly into Blythe cinematics! After completing a very emotional scene, I am now working on a very sexy cinematic between her and the Captain! It will be a pleasure to work on such an amazing and long challenge!

Yagskie

As of this week, I'm animating a Blythe space whale request from one of the Kickstarter backers.

Mendez

Been fully focused on a TON of new Pandora scenes to help keep the horny flowing for everyone.

As of writing this I also just got started on probably the largest cutscene cinematic I've done for Subverse so far. This part is something I'm super excited about in particular and I'm working hard to make sure it's a banger!

PROGRAMMING
Hungry JJ

Hi,

This past week, post the Huntress launch, we already had our first meeting going over the next character’s storyline and gameplay events. Besides some initial game flow configurations I am actively getting Blythe ready for dinner with the Captain.

Samantha Flowers

Hello everyone,

Full speed ahead towards General Elizabeth Blythe! Can you believe she’ll have over 150 new lines of dialogue!? And that’s only counting -one character- in the main story mission, so you can imagine I have quite a busy schedule ahead of me getting everything installed into the game!

Gina Galore has always been a delight to work with; not only is she quite the chameleon in the vocal booth, but she’s always been a bundle of sunshine and positive energy every time we’ve spoken. I’m honored at the opportunity to collaborate with such a professional, and always have fun getting to edit and integrate her VO. Despite her role in Subverse being so complicated, this starving-for-revenge, rage-filled yet tactical militant, she delivers it in such a way that we sympathize and root for her even if she’s not on our side (yet). Bravo!!

ART & MODELING
WTX

This month, between a couple of VERY spoilery GC maps that I'm pretty sure I can't show, also I got to work on this cool Space Diner to be used in a future cinematic.

ErinTheSketchy

What time is it? Blythe time! Working her graphics now and, although not everything is black and crimson, badass vibes are on their way to all of us. Prepare yourselves

Tibor

The elderly foot soldier of the team reporting to the FOW army. I am here and I keep doing my part to get the game into shape. The game will be a lot better with the devotion quests, revamped progression system and more balanced grid combat. I will post a blog entry in the next 2 weeks with some tangible information. Thanks for your wonderful support, it is very much appreciated!

See you next month!

Features

Bundled "Featured Sketches"
Since Google Poly closed down, the immediate access to some examples by talented artists was sorely missed. So we've added some of the classics back in. We have big plans for sharing and viewing artwork so this is just the start.
Add a button in Setting to switch handedness
Previously the only way to do this was to tap the bottom of the controllers together. This wasn't easy to discover and was unreliable when using some controllers. We've kept that in but added a nice clear button the app settings.
Add a button in Setting to reset the "First Time Use" tutorial
This is something that's especially useful when you want to demo Open Brush to a new user. The current tutorial is very brief but we hope to expand it in the future. Note this button affects the app the next time you launch it.

Known Issues

  • Meta Quest: Incorrect or missing video thumbnails are shown
  • Meta Quest: Gif capture results in just a black image
  • Meta Quest (Quest 1 only): Selection and erase tools are not working
  • Valve Index Controllers: Grip is too sensitive. It's easy to accidentally trigger a grab when drawing.
  • Issues with controllers not appearing when the wrong OpenXR runtime is selected. Vermillion has suggested some workarounds. (Thanks Vermillion!)

Integument - mematron
FIELD NOTES

Field notes are a way to experience first thoughts and impressions as an experiment happens. In these first 9 entries, interactions between Gates and several other hada were observed. In particular, is the largest seen to date called an, Igler.

This was an unexpected observation as the primary subject is Gates. However, her relation to Iglers is tied to the Thyim and even the Meddigagoes seen during the experiment. They are all connected in ways that are not fully understood, but that knowledge base begins with Field Notes.

In addition to the images, you'll be able to view a brief report that includes the name of the researcher, what was seen and the tools used in the experiment.

FEATURES
  1. Voiceovers - Accompanying every illustration is a unique voiceover of a scientist that gives context to what's being presented.
  2. 10 Highly detailed, interactive, illustrations. They occupy most of the window.
  3. New rendering techniques used to emphasize color and detail. A strong effort was made to push the design language forward while maintaining color harmony.
  4. User activated generative animations. A long press on one of the illustrations makes cool things happen.

The Field Notes button is located 3rd from the top on the left of the "Integument - Gates: Database" interface.

The button will change to a "3" when clicked on. You may also interact with the "Field Notes" button by pressing the "3" key on your keyboard. (HINT: This like many other things in the DLC and the base application, "Integument" can be activated with a simple key press. Indeed, it's time for you to become a keyboard warrior.)

Although we are on the surface of the skin, the magnification is so high that we're starting to see the building blocks of life; DNA nucleotides. What do you think about that nerds?!

This size chart does matter.

"M, M, M, M.A.S.K."

Shaken, not stirred.

OTHER CHANGES
[FIXED] There were 4 pixels missing from the upper left corner of the main window.
Custom code written to allow a ton of nested windows.
Buttons that activate and deactivate after they are done doing what they need to do.
Graphical elements can be persistent or turned off without affecting the entire application.
FUN FACTS
  • At 15 nm (nano meters/metres) Gates is considered very tall for a hada. An Igler is 150 nm. By comparison, a single human blood cell is 10,000 nm. Now that's big on a small scale!
  • If Gates can be considered the cleaner fish of the Hada Kingdom, then an Igler is like a Blue Whale. The largest of it's kind.
ABOUT THIS DLC
Database: Gates represents more focused analyses. This is the foundation for more detailed content, some of which is hinted in the base application, "Integument."
