PAX East was the first player-focused event we attended and we were ecstatic to have been able to meet so many of you, Wayfinders! The team has been waiting for a chance to talk more about our upcoming game and our panel hosted by the guide expert himself, MTashed, allowed us to do just that. If you missed it live, you can watch it here:
Meet the Team
Our speakers Joe Madueria CEO of Airship Syndicate, Ryan Stefanelli Studio President, and AJ LaSaracina Marketing & Engagement Director, took us through some of the history of Airship, the time and effort that has been put into creating player-first experiences, and how all of this has helped shape our upcoming title, Wayfinder.
We’d like to introduce some of the talented voices of Wayfinder. They bring the emotion and conviction of these characters to life. As you travel through the world of Wayfinder we hope you’ll learn to find courage and strength in voices that will be by your side along the way.
Stories of the Characters
The stories behind the Wayfinders are just as important as their fight against the gloom. It’s what gives these protectors a common cause as they stand for the people of Evenor. This world will have stories to tell both in-game and out, so there will be plenty of routes to become the experts needed to save Evenor and fight back the Gloom. In fact, we had a new story to tell at the panel! Click here to jump to the particular panel segment.
New Wayfinder Revealed - Venomess
Nothing like a mere wall will stop The Venomess from reaching her mark and completing her mission. We hope our teaser gives you some ideas on what you have to look forward to when this Wayfinder emerges from the Gloom! Looking to the future of the game, there will be main updates every three months, called Seasons. These Seasons will bring new content with them like new Wayfinders, weapons, and events for players to dominate on the path to saving this broken world.
Building a Game Alongside a Community
We couldn’t have made it to this point without your amazing support, or the players that have helped shape the game so far in the tests that have taken place. From how loot works at a foundational level to making combat changes like parrying when YOU want, we are listening to feedback and will continue to do so as Wayfinder opens up to everyone (looking at you air dash).
Mark your calendars for April, when the next Closed Beta begins! Head over to the Wayfinder Steam page and request access to the Beta via the Playtest. We will be opening this Beta up to more regions and are ready to protect Skylight with you all!
Both the Airship Syndicate and Digital Extremes teams are working to bring you the best possible experience as a Wayfinder. The response that has been seen so far has been amazing and lets us know we are heading in the right direction. The teams are dedicated to building this world with you, for you. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at the next event to #ControltheChaos!

Just a quick heads-up to any console owners that Overloop is also now available to download on PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox! Great for Trophy/Achievement hunters with an easy Platinum/1000G for the taking. And, if you haven't splashed out on a Steam Deck yet, it plays great on the Switch in handheld mode, so you can clone on the go!
You may have noticed the Survival Chamber, one of the newest additions to Deflector, has a leaderboard. And leaderboards, we believe, shouldn’t be empty. So now it’s time for you to put your name on there and strive to get to the very top! Because, to celebrate Deflector’s full launch, we’re starting a competition!
The rules are simple:
Play Deflector to unlock the Survival Chamber mode;
Enter the Survival Chamber and get a highscore;
Keep playing and surviving for as long as you can to remain at the top of the leaderboard throughout the month until April 24th;
Our top 3 Survival Chamber champions of the month will receive a pleasant prize at the end of the competition!
We will be bringing you the interim results every week and we’ll crown our champions on April 24th.
Best of luck!
*Legal notice: The competition is being hosted by Super Dot Com Ltd starting March 24th 2023 to April 24th 2023. Winners will be determined by Super Dot Com Ltd based on the Leaderboard. Gifts are granted to the three winning players on behalf of Super Dot Com Ltd within 5 work days following the end of the competition by sending the gifts to the winner’s Steam account.
Thank you for your sincere message. I was also a bit surprised to see that people are actually paying attention to the updates. I often wait a long time for a new message and sometimes worry that I'm just talking to the air.
Getting feedback is a pleasant surprise, especially when someone points out specific issues in the game. It shows that someone is actually playing it! I'm so happy about that! My first reaction was to climb onto the roof and shout, "Someone is playing my game!" But... I have to fix the bugs and continue writing code first.
Game design is fun, but the implementation process is painful and time-consuming. I design happily, but then I have a furrowed brow when it comes to implementation.
For this update, I updated some UI and added night lighting to some of the buildings. I also refactored part of the code. This was a painful and time-consuming process, but it was worth it.
I don't know if you guys play Jenga or not. As a novice game designer (like me), I often just write functions directly, like making the bunny run, sleep, eat, and so on. Gradually, the unstable blocks pile up higher and higher. Players may not realize it, but I know that the project is about to collapse.
So I have to stop and spend a lot of time refactoring the code. Although players can't see the difference, they can see the new features that have been added.
Finally, the refactoring is done. I played it myself and didn't encounter any bugs. This was a big change, so there may be some overlooked bugs that I didn't find during testing. Please leave a message and let me know.
