Well, hello there.

We recently added a ranking system to Brawl, and now it's time to tweak a few numbers. So we shook the Mutation Tree a little, fixed some puny humans' abilities, and nerfed a couple of random mutations.

UPDATE 1.4.6

• Balance Changes •

Mutation Tree changes (Brawl):
  • Levels 1 and 2 of Wide Selection have had their costs lowered: 10; 15 -> 5; 10;
  • Armor Bonus cost lowered: 30 -> 20. This mutation now gives more armor at level 1: 10; 20; 40; 80 -> 20; 40; 80 (there are fewer levels now);
  • Health Bonus now gives more health at levels 1 and 2: 40; 100; -> 60; 120;
  • Level 1 of Health Multiplier has had its cost lowered: 30 -> 20, and the effect is a little weaker: 50 -> 40. But it's easier to reach Magic Defense Bonus now!
  • Added the main game mode's attack speed mutation to Brawl.
Changes to class abilities and the recently-added tier 4 item abilities:
  • Increased the cooldown of Taunt for Tanks: 20 seconds -> 30 seconds;
  • Buffed the effect of Demoralizing Blow (the special ability of tier 4 Tank weapon, Panzer-Poo): 30% -> 50%;
  • The Force (the special ability of tier 4 Fencer weapon, Laser Sword): enemy projectiles now should have a higher chance of being deflected: 20% -> 30%;
  • The chance for Shock Therapy (the special ability of tier 4 Healer weapon, Defibrillator) to trigger has been increased: 20% -> 30%;
  • Build a Turret (the special ability of tier 4 Egghead weapon, Turret) damage increased: 45 -> 65;
  • Bonus from Final (uni)Form (the special ability of tier 4 Mage weapon, Sailor Fuku) increased: 50% -> 70%.
Changes to random mutations and the Mutation Tree:
  • Slightly nerfed Fast Reload in the standard mutations tree: 20; 30; 45; 60 -> 15; 30; 40; 50;
  • Summon Zombie now requires more mana: 10 -> 45;
  • Final Gift is less generous – health bonus reduced (only in Brawl): 200 -> 100;
  • Sticky Blood is a little less sticky now: -40% -> -30%;
  • Despiritualization now burns less mana: 70 -> 40;
  • Radius of No Touching significantly reduced: 56 -> 25;
  • Panic in Brawl now only drops starting on floor 9.

Surviving the Abyss - FearghalK
In today's update we've implemented several quality of life features, as well as changes to resources that can be mined by Extractors.
More is coming soon and as always we really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions :)
Balancing
  • All resource extractors can mine any construction resource including advanced resources.
Quality of Life
  • Re-enabled VSync in the settings menu.
  • Updated Oil drill directional marker.
  • Prevented intro splash screen playing when returning to main menu.
  • Tooltips for buildings under construction show the full refund rate.
  • Updates to status tags to prevent UI overlap.

Thanks for joining us once again for the Hopoo Games Dev Thoughts! Today we’ll be taking a closer look at the new game mode coming in Risk of Rain Returns: Providence Trials.

Providence Fan Art

Providence Trials

New to Risk of Rain Returns are the brand new Providence Trials - dozens of fun single player mini-game challenges each using a different Survivor with a different set of abilities, each on a custom stage.

Some trials test your mobility skills, others your combat effectiveness and others your survivability, all skills that serve you well in Risk of Rain Returns. Many of the trials even unlock alternate abilities for the Survivors for use in the main game, along with some other secret unlockables…



There are over 40 different trials planned for release - today I'm going to showcase three of my personal favorites with you, starting with a mobility-focused trial for Loader.

Racing against the clock the goal of this Trial is to gain points by collecting as many coins as you possibly can scattered throughout the custom stage while avoiding attacks from Swifts and Mushrooms.





Along with points you can also collect items to speed up your progress, a combination of Hardlight Afterburners, Hopoo Feathers and Backup Magazines can be found to aid you, along with some custom Bonus Stock pickups for your skills.





Utilise your grapple hook and your new ability Short Circuit to navigate the stage as fast as possible - A passing grade for this trial currently sits at 40 points - but the truly skilled can aim for the golden crown score of 70 points.

Next up, test your combat effectiveness against 4 rows of slowly encroaching enemies with this trial featuring Sniper.

Confined to a small section in the centre of the stage you must use your abilities carefully to inflict damage to as many enemies as you can while carefully prioritising which row you think poses the greatest threat - if any enemy reaches the centre its game over.





When you reach certain point thresholds, items (with a small degree of randomness) spawn in your cage to help you reach the higher scores.

As time marches on the enemies that spawn get stronger and faster making some real panic moments where a perfectly executed active reload can make the difference between success and failure.





Finally let's take a look at a strategy-focussed trial featuring Engineer. Set on a small custom stage the start of the trial is triggered by collecting either ATG Missiles or Prison Shackles from the center platform.

Once started, groups of enemies spawn on the stage in waves and you have full use of your abilities to defeat them. Between waves 2 new items spawn and you have to pick between them before increasingly difficult enemies start to spawn. If either you or one of your turrets dies before you achieve the target score, you fail the trial.





Will you increase your survivability by picking healing and utility items? Or will you focus on increasing your damage to kill the enemies as efficiently as possible? Pick carefully and plan your strategy to ensure success in this trial!





Don’t forget these are just three of the 40+ of Providence Trials coming in Risk of Rain Returns. We can’t wait for you to try them all later this year!

Please find bellow the changes applied today during our maintenance.

Customisation system:

As announced in a previous news (http://nacon.me/CustoUpdateBB3) we applied major changes on the customisation system: All the Common, Rare and Epic pieces of equipment bought will now unlock for unlimited use among your teams, on players that share the same position.

Other changes:

-Reset password feature has been added.
-In offline mode, the Sure Feet and Dodge skills can't be used on moves outside of a player's activation, such as those provided from On the Ball, or the Blitz result on the Kick-off Event table.

-Fixed visual and controls issues when using Animal Savagery during Blitz kick-off event.
-Fixed inducements display when more than 10 inducements are available.
-Fixed an issue that could make the game unresponsive when using a Team re-roll during a Jump Over or Leap.
-Fixed an issue that could make the game unresponsive when spamming selection button in the action wheel.
-Fixed an issue during Kick-off when not choosing a destination square before end of timer.

Hello RUMBLE fighters!

We have a small update for you today.

After introducing the new LIV recording camera, we received several messages from you asking if we could put the old recording camera back in. Well, it's back in the game.

For those of you unaware, when you press the F10 key on your keyboard, a menu will open on your computer monitor with which you can enable a special in-game camera that will make gameplay footage look better. Very useful for those of you who like to record their gameplay footage. Now instead of just having the LIV camera as an option, you will be able to switch between the old and the new.

The little menu in which you can change your recording camera settings has been altered to accommodate for this new option. We still recommend using the LIV camera, but if you really prefer the legacy camera for whatever reason, now you can use it again.

If you want to use the LIV camera, you need to have LIV installed, it can be found here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/755540/LIV/
