Hello everyone, I have some exciting news to share with you.
Major changes
Added a new Security Room for Light and Heavy Containment
Revised SCP-079 monitor mechanic
In addition to the new Security Room, I have revised the SCP-079 monitor mechanics. SCP-079 can take over a wall of monitors, but at least it leaves the security monitors alone now.
Added an event with SCP-096
SCP-096 has been in the game for quite some time, more precisely since the beta, but has served no purpose. That changes now.
Added NPCs that move around the facility
Minor changes
Many sound improvements
Added many more sound effects
Improved visuals
Added more easter eggs
Added an option to hide the Tutorials in the Intro
Improved the SCP security room behavior
All sounds can now be paused
Added a lot more animations
Camera UI now displays the room you are currently watching
Countless bugfixes
Most of the news covered has already been published in the SCP: Observer changelog on my Discord server. More news will follow tomorrow.
New demo update : - Fixed the issue that cosmetics had disappeared from the previous version, now they're back, different, new ones since we changed the system a lot and the unlockables since then. - Various minor tweaks & bug fixes - Tweaked a bit the characters' frame data for balancing
This modular backpack is worn by all Groundbreakers on Calyx, and you’ll be able to enhance it with upgrades like the Hover Mod.
In today’s post, we’ll share screenshots and GIFs of the ModPack. We’ll talk a bit about how it functions and fits into the universe of Techtonica. And, of course, we’ll share some concept art to highlight the development process.
As always, Techtonica is in active development. The ModPack’s design and effects can change over time.
Let’s dig in!
Your ModPack’s alive with science!
The ModPack in Techtonica is home to all sorts of functionalities for the Calyxian-bound Groundbreaker.
Here’s how the pack looks in Techtonica. It’s rad.
The ModPack is a standard issue all-in-one backpack for ANEXCAL’s Groundbreakers. It’s a power supply for equipment, it holds the Groundbreaker’s lamp, and it’s the bottomless inventory system.
It’s also extensible with mods you’ll find throughout Calyx. The Hover Mod upgrades the ModPack’s thrusters, for instance, to enable flight at a consistent elevation above the ground.
A backpack was always intended for the complete design of the character. You can't have a Soviet-inspired, atomic-age video game cosmonaut without one.
How did we get here?
Concepting the shape and feel of the backpack
Early in development, the ModPack was just going to hold your inventory. It evolved to also act as a generator for the M.O.L.E.. Then it became the way we allow players to hover and travel short distances quickly. We figured the sky (or cavern ceiling?) was the limit from there.
Here’s a look at some very early concepts.
We always look for ways to add emission (glow) and motion that align with our story and aesthetic. Arc and fusion reactors combined with old-school radial engines have a cool, sci-fi, industrial look that helps us tell the story of Techtonica's mysterious and powerful technologies.
As the ModPack evolved, we got to work with these elements.
A future of ModPack add-ons
Over time, the ModPack worn by Groundbreakers will change with add-ons.
Here’s some concepting for how the RailRunner will work as a ModPack add-on.
The RailRunner (how players ride on the Monorail System’s rails) will be incorporated directly into the ModPack’s equipment set, just like the lamp and Hover Mod. It looks cool, first of all, and it makes a heck of a lot of sense in the context of the game.
We can’t wait to see you parading around Calyx with your own ModPacks once Techtonica hits Early Access later this year.
We’d like to kick off by saying thank you so much for the response to King of the Castle on launch. Our team has been blown away by the love, support and sheer enthusiasm you’ve all shown!
Before we get started, we’d just like to call on you to leave a review for the game if you haven’t already. The more reviews we get, the more kindly we’ll be treated by the algorithm and the more our community grows. It might only take you a minute, but it’ll make a huge difference!

A credits update
With those resolved, we’re confident the game is in a place where we can start working towards a bigger 1.1 update.
We’re going to tweak the balance in the Monarch’s favour slightly by buffing the Laws of the Land
Specifically, we’re going to be re-examining the Monarch’s Choice
The Ambition challenges will appear one turn earlier
Improving the tools for the Monarch to reward or punish Nobles
Rebalancing Region Schemes (Ragnarok, we’re coming for you)
We may not do all of these - We need to be very careful and avoid over-correction. Our aim is to keep it possible for the Regions to win, while tipping the scales in the Monarch’s favour.
Balance for small games
We’re looking into ensuring games of 5 or 6 players don’t feel unbalanced, as well as continuing to improve Party Games.
Save Sharing
We’re working on a system for easily sharing saves with other players, allowing a Noble from a winning region to take over as Monarch. We also plan to make Claimants more interesting and facilitate Dynasty Games in other ways.
Repeated Content
We’re looking at varying more Event text, rebalancing Event generation and adding new Events, all with the aim of keeping multiple games feeling fresh.
A final warning - We’re a small team who are working extremely hard at the game, but the amount of things we’d like to do outweighs the amount of things we can do. Bear with us while we make King of the Castle even better - and before asking any questions, read last week’s blog post, which goes into the above points in much greater detail.
Enjoy 1.0.1, and try not to lose your heads! Nobles, get ready to up your game - 1.1 is coming with a fresh challenge.
Also, make sure you are following the game on Twitter to be kept updated with the events of the King of the Castle realm!
Do you sit at home and think, how could I better do my part? Well think no more!

The Human Survival Committee is proud to announce the release of a brand new update that wasn't in Organs Please.
Firstly, for those who love to stream on Twitch, we have added a new feature that allows your viewers to decide the fate of visitors in the game. All you need to do is press a special button and your viewers can choose between allowing the person onto the Ark, hiring them as a Factory worker, or even incinerating them – you'll have to follow their choice.
Surviving in a post-apocalyptic and bloodthirsty society just became a little more fun.
Secondly, we have implemented a survey system for all viewers. Between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every game day, your Twitch viewers can vote on whether to take positive or negative action against the Factory Administrator (in other words, you!).
They can give you humanitarian aid in the form of property and lives, a cash bonus, or an increase in assembly parts for the Ark.
But you should be careful, because they can also activate unexpected inspections or close important areas of the Factory. You'd better do your best to stay on their good side.
Lastly, in addition to deciding the fate of ordinary citizens, players will also be able to decide the fate of celebrities, including famous murderers, cannibals (not just Virtus Populi followers!), maniacs, space travelers, and political figures. Who will you save and who will you turn into food for the rest of Vert-5? We can't wait to see!
Furthermore, we have completely updated all Faction Principles, fine-tuned the balance, and added even more variety to the appearances of normal and faction visitors.
We hope you enjoy it! Please share your impressions here or on Discord – the Human Survival Committee is always open to receive suggestions and feedback.
Since my last blog post I have changed a few things that delayed the update further, in fact I have rewritten the internal engine to speed it up.
The gains in speed are a bit less than expected, however while doing it I have introduced the possibility of adding chess variants. Actually only Chess 960 is available but more will come in the future.
I have also removed Gull3 as the default chess engine and replaced it with Fairy Stockfish which supports a great number of variants. I have also added support for the engine options.
Among these options, the one named Skill Level allows you to lower the engine difficulty so that you get more chances to beat it. However be careful about how you change these options because they could break the engine and Caïssa Board! In this case there is a Reset button that will help you fix it.
You can check these changes today by suscribing to the unstable channel or wait some more until the release is ready.
The update will finally be published when I'm done with new screenshots and videos, and naturally fix the last minute bugs I may find along the way.
