Happy March starchasers! I’ve been doing this for so long that I’m starting to run out of jokes and intros, so let’s keep it simple this time around.
You’ll notice again that this month’s devlog is rather short compared to the old ones. This is more the nature of things as we get closer to release. There’s less content or features to implement, and it’ll be more about polishing and finishing up what’s there to get it ready.
As we move closer to release, I’ve created a huge tracking sheet for testers to keep track of and more easily report bugs on all the content in the game.
And of course, that content is being finalized. The player can now fully gamble, and race in starship races (after getting sponsors) or become a gladiator in a combat arena (along with the appropriate questlines for each section. There’s even new UI widgets to help with that.
We’ve also been adding various other improvements, such as the ability to see train travel routes, some basic voice acting in key demo parts, and some improvements to NPC AI along with randomization of their loadouts and abilities.
For that last bit it means by default it’ll do things like give some more random equipment to various NPCs (so expect to see more mines and missiles), but you can also expect to see cases where, for example, doing a quest that accidentally ends with a shipment of ancient weapons being set loose on a galaxy means you’ll start seeing smugglers and pirates carry those weapons sometimes.
Assetwork and Graphical Improvements
Shadows! I talked about this last month but they’re now implemented completely into the game, and will filter in color and intensity based on what nebulas you’re in, if you’re in them.
A lot of older models or things got redone and improved. The normal jumpgate mesh was the first model I ever made, period. It was time for an update, along with updates to its wrecked variants and its active effects.
Furthermore, flickering logic has been separated from ship corpse logic, so now you can get ancient flickering ruins, like the remains of this aeons old whaling ship.
Fauna can also die now. I won’t tell if you won’t.
Finally, we’re redoing a lot of textures here and there to have some space saved in anticipation for all the new space station and space interior models. Finally, no more floating grey cubes in the void.
And that’s all for this month! Check back next month, we’ll be doing station stuff. Lots and lots of station stuff.
I have a new game in Early Access! It's called {LINK REMOVED}KOP KILLER 22XX. I'll give you three guesses what it's about! It's not subtle.
Then again...
I've been working on this new game for nearly two years now, co-developing it with my close friend Dr. Shameless Cat. It was strange to develop it alongside the far more accessible and wholesome C.A.R.L. My wife gave birth to our first child in that time. I'd let my kid play C.A.R.L.. I would not let them play {LINK REMOVED}KOP KILLER 22XX... yet.
So aside from the obvious, what is KOP KILLER 22XX about? It's about a possible future. A hopeless, cyber-punk, hyper-capitalist future where violence is the only avenue of escape. A future where no state has a monopoly on violence, but violence is instead the domain of a cartel. A future where everything is owned, sold, or destroyed.
It's also about a transhumanist future. A future where the line between human-beings and machines has begun to blur. It's a game about crimes we cannot yet conceive of, as the technology to commit them does not yet exist.
And in that way, it's very much a companion piece to A Robot Named Fight!. If ARNF is a subtle game about fascism and the myth of the lone hero saving the day, KK22XX is an overt game about opposing fascism through collaboration and comradery. It's a game about the near future that would lead to the distant fantasy-nightmare of A Robot Named Fight!.
Also like A Robot Named Fight!, KOP KILLER 22XX has a very silly, arguably bad, name. It's a name that has turned off quite a few streamers and public facing influencers. In sending out press key, we've gotten quite a few responses akin to "I agree with your point of view, but I don't want to invite drama to my channel."
We expected that, but I am a bit surprised by the extent of it. Steam is home to all kinds of taboo games... games about sex, games about violence, games where you play as Nazis, and TONS of games where you kill police... games where you kill human police in modern day, not cyborg police in some far-flung dystopian future. Well shucks... some people are really scared by the name. We might have to change the name... We've had a lot of conversations about it.
But I digress. Long story short. We need your help to tell this story. If you're a fan of A Robot Named Fight! I think you'll really like this story. Right now the game is limited to a Roguelike Arcade Mode. You fight in procedurally generated arenas against hordes of cyborg cops. They swarm from all direction and have really cool AI. Like A Robot Named Fight, there are tons of cool power ups and stat boosts. You'll like it. But Story Mode is coming soon, and we need your support to make it happen! The game is $2.00 right now. Easy buy. Leave a review. Tell your friends on Reddit. Tell your friends on discord and on web forums.
Because {LINK REMOVED}KOP KILLER 22XX is ultimately a game about friendship.

This devlog is gonna be a little different from the previous one, as we recently sat down and thought that we haven’t introduced our upcoming, brand-new DLC properly. Having said that, it will focus on introduction to the Gas Station Simulator - Airstrip DLC rather than on showcasing you some fresh stuff that we’ve been recently working on (although, we’ll have some new screens available for you at the end).
To kick things off, we’ve recently announced the release date for our new DLC along with the new, short teaser, so if you haven’t seen it yet, now it’s the perfect time to catch up with it. Check it out below ⬇️
Gas Station Simulator is all about enjoyable experiences that can be best achieved through some fresh, brand-new mechanics and features. We want the game to be as unique as possible. Thus, Airstrip DLC not only will have some new features for you to uncover, but also a separate campaign to complete.
As we said at the beginning of this devlog, we’d like to showcase you some new screenshots that we’ve recently prepared. Check them out and let us know what you think of them in the comment section below.
Oh, and one more thing before we finish – as there are many of you out there, who cannot wait for more stuff to come, we’d like to announce that from this devlog till the Airstrip DLC launch day, you can expect at least one devlog per week. Each of them will focus on some cool, new stuff that we’re cooking on for you, so make sure to follow us on social media and add the DLC to your wishlist if you haven’t done it yet. What is more, before the release of Airstrip DLC we'll make sure to give you at least one update that will focus mainly on bug fixes and general issues that you've been encountering, so stay tuned for that.
And that would be it for today, fellow jockeys! We hope that we made things a little bit clearer and we shed some light on our future plans. Thank you so much for your constant support and feedback that you’ve been sending us, and if you don’t want to miss any future updates regarding Gas Station Simulator, make sure to follow us on our socials and consider joining our discord server when you can report a bug, meet other jockeys, or simply talk about anything you want.
And last but not least, for all the women across the globe, we'd like to wish you a happy International Women's Day❤️
