Have you already missed the Public Stage? Well, we have a new update for it featuring some new additions, fixes, and plenty of upgrades.

New is the photo mode!

In a nutshell, you must be in the 3PV, then you can call up the photo mode. Here you can make settings just like on a camera. Rotate the camera, adjust the lens, brightness, saturation (black and white images!), exposure or colour effects. Have fun experimenting.

Also new are the QoL feature "Quick Build" and many new audio effects.

Now it's your turn!

How to join the public staging?
Some of you probably have not done this before, so here is a small guide:

Prerequisite:
You must have Medieval Dynasty in your library – obviously.

The procedure
  • Open your game library.
  • Right Click on Medieval Dynasty there.



  • Open properties.



  • Select the tab "BETAS".*
  • Enter this password below the dropdown in the field:

    MedievalStaging


  • Press CHECK CODE
  • Use the drop down and select “release_build_staging”. This is the public stage.
  • Press Close


Steam should now download this version of the game.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE SAVE YOUR LIVE VERSION SAVES GAME BEFORE ACCESSING THE PUBLIC STAGING BUILD!

Just in case something goes awry!

*Steam labels all those builds as "betas” albeit they’re not betas, so do not be too confused!


  • Photo Mode.
  • New gameplay customization "fast build", allowing a single hammer hit to instantly fill modules with all desired resources (if they are present in the inventory).
  • The wind and rain attenuation and reverb in buildings depends on the number of walls and roofs that the building has and on used material.
  • All pickable items now have their own unique sounds for picking them from the ground.
  • Bedtime sounds for NPCs and the Player.
  • A few new sounds for consuming edible items (Berries, Plums, Cabbage, Honeycomb, Raw egg, Quark, Rot, Meat, Fish, Mushrooms, Tarts and Pies).
  • Footstep sounds for a Dolby Atmos setup.


  • Sickle of contention and Rajmunds cane can be equipped in quickslots.
  • After removing furniture in the tavern, NPCs who were sitting on the bench sit mid-air.
  • Poppy flowers in the field disappear with the distance.
  • Hives in the apiary have an incorrect rotation.
  • Sometimes NPCs can't get to the workbench and just stand idle.
  • Quest-NPCs react to snowball hits.
  • Traveling with waggoners is not available after the player kicks out a companion from the village in a "follow" quest.
  • Bandits stay in place, not approaching or looking at the player.
  • Astrid (special NPC) just died the day she turned 60.
  • Herald or exotic goods vendor is in a town without a tavern.
  • Possible fix for NPCs stuck halfway in the ground.
  • Alwin's buggy questline.
  • Family quests now don't use the Player's NPCs in them (apart from the family)
  • Every time you drink a potable item with a capacity you have multiple stacks of you decrease the capacity from a different stack instead of the same one.
  • No footstep sounds for a Girl.
  • Wolf growling sounds while running are too frequent.
  • Key binding buttons in the options don't react on mouse hover.
  • Save and Load menu buttons don't react on mouse hover.
  • In the options menu when a confirmation pops up, the inputs at the bottom are still clickable.
  • Version number is not blurred when the option confirmation pops up.

Hola Capos! It’s me, once again. The first major update of 2023 is almost here, and today I’ll tell you all about what’s inside. Aand when it’s coming out. Aaand when you can enter the playtest to try the update before the release. Let’s get right into it.

I. FIGHT ːcartel_loveː

First, let’s talk about the long-awaited rework of combat. The core is still the same - you win if you have more power, no tricks here. But in the new system power is not everything. And if you’re not careful enough - you can lose any fight. We want combat to be more impactful and require some strategic planning beforehand.

Your Lieutenants are playing a crucial role in the reworked combat. They can be injured during the fight, they can lose their power, some of them can run away from the battlefield, while others will fight to their dying breath. It’s no longer just about winning the fight with more power points - it’s about building a team with different tactics in mind.

Every Lieutenant now has an Endurance bar which depletes during a fight. The lower it is - the higher the chance to acquire a certain debuff: power loss, injury, or even an arrest. After the fight ends Lieutenants must rest for a bit to refill their Endurance, certain buildings like Residencies or Hotels will speed up this process!

Power loss and Arrest are pretty self-explanatory but you’re probably wondering how an “Injury” will work. When your Lieutenant is injured during a fight their power no longer counts, so it can be a pretty big blow to your operation! And you also have a choice - you can evacuate your injured Lieutenant from the fight immediately. It will cost some money, of course, but they will be safely recovering in one of your buildings. Or you can decide to leave them on the battlefield. If you win the fight, you’ll still have time to evacuate them. But if you lose… they will die.

Because Lieutenants are so crucial in the reworked combat system, we made more than 10 new abilities for them and reworked some old ones. The Coordinator ability is much more useful now! Some of the new abilities are active, some are passive. For example, some of your Lieutenants fight better when they’re alone, and some will make everyone else more powerful. Certain Lieutenants will also acquire buffs to their power instead of debuffs if their Endurance is low.

We want combat to be much more meaningful and refined, and we want to test it out with all of you before the public release, but that’s not the only thing coming with this update.

With a more complex combat system, we’re also introducing a new illegal resource - Weapons. You can’t grow weapons on your farms but you’ll be able to buy them from certain places like Guerillas and Enemy Gangs. Weapons give a boost to your overall power in combat and allow you to perform powerful attacks that can change the tide of the fight. Weapons are optional combat and they are pretty expensive but they can certainly help you out in fights you had no chance of winning without them!

There are a lot of nuances, a lot of new abilities, and smaller changes that are connected to the Combat Rework. If I listed them all here, this video would’ve been longer than the Godfather trilogy. But I know that all of you are eager to know more and that’s why we’ll be publishing a more detailed guide to the new system in the coming days. And, of course, all of the changes will be listed in the Patch Notes.

But Combat is only half of the update. So let’s get to the second part.

II. STASH ːcartel_loveː

We all know that money can be Dirty or Clean. by the mid-game you can be swimming in Dirty Cash which sounds nice, but also brings a lot of attention to you. Your Selling Points are overflowing, and you’re frantically putting all of your excess Dirty Money in Cities and the Terror is slowly rising. But what if… What if you just hide it?

”But where” you may ask. And that’s where Caches come in.

Cache is a new type of building, and its purpose is to let you hide things from the government’s eyes. You can build two types of Caches - Dugouts and Subterreant Storages with different storage sizes which will be useful in different stages of the game or for different purposes. These buildings are hidden and they won’t get attention if you’re not in the process of hiding or taking out the money.

Feel like a real Capo with hidden caches all around the country! You can hide the excesses for a rainy day when you need to pay a bribe or need some extra cash for laundering buildings. You can, of course, build multiple stashes, and don’t be afraid that some police car will notice them!

Of course, there’s also a catch - Cartel Tycoon can be a harsh game after all! When your money is hidden in stashes, it will deteriorate over time. There are all kinds of critters underground, so if you forget about your stash for a couple of years you might find an empty storage and a very fat rat.

We can’t wait for you to check out these buildings and hide dirty money all over your property!

III. PLAYTEST ːcartel_loveː

The playtest of the upcoming update will be starting this week!
We’ll post all of the links on Steam and our Discord!

We’re still playing around with the sizes of Caches and with new combat mechanics, so during the playtest, we’ll need your help to figure all of this out and release the update with your feedback in mind!

The update itself is scheduled to release in early April, so we’ll have time to analyze your thoughts and make necessary changes before it hits the stores!
And the update won’t be the only thing hitting the stores - we’ve created a new Lieutenant Pack with 5 brand-new Lieutenants with abilities related to the new combat system. We’ll make a separate video about them closer to the release of the DLC.

The Fight & Stash Update is the first update we’re releasing this year, but we’ve got a lot more planned for 2023. We hope that you’ll enjoy the changes and new content, and we’re so excited to continue expanding and reforming Cartel Tycoon.

Improvements

  • There is now a maximum distance villagers will travel to during their free time, which is based on the location of their homes
  • Upkeep categories’ ordering in the Book now follows the same order as the list of building categories in the build menu
  • Villagers happiness tooltip positive and neutral colors are now easier to read
Fixes

  • It was possible for builders to reach construction sites and not do any work
  • The build menu scrolled back to the top after placing a monument part that featured several of them, hindering complex monument construction
  • Coins total from taxation could exceed the limit set for individual houses
  • Some resources in storage facilities weren’t displaying a numerical value for their available quantity (they now do even at 0)
  • The Builder’s Workshop was displayed at the end of the building list unless players reloaded their game
  • Rare case where the game displayed wrong quantities after switching resources assigned to a Warehouse/Granary/Market slot
  • Building upkeep costs
    • Weren’t calculated correctly when pausing/unpausing a workplace
    • Were wrongly modified when adding more workers, causing players to pay more than intended
  • Building upkeep costs were wrongly calculated The Sturdy Material edict’s effect wasn’t applied in the real calculation of the budget
  • The Sturdy Material edict’s effect wasn’t applied to maintenance costs from additional workers
  • Villagers crossing under a quarry were teleported on its ladder
  • Some tooltips had more empty space than intended
  • A number of Mod.io thumbnails’ colors were misinterpreted

NEW WEAPONS

THE PLAGUE - Special Weapon



The Plague, Sker Ritual’s answer to Pest Control. Discharge bombs with this multi-grenade launcher that releases plumes of purple gas. Damage enemies and objects alike to progress your objectives.

CROSSBOW

Load up! This crossbow shoots a fan of 3 arrows and will slaughter through 3 enemies in turn. The crossbow will also be available in all levels.

PIONEER’S AXE

This infamously powerful melee weapon possesses a radius slash damage to hack through multiple targets. The Pioneer’s Axe will also be available in all levels.

BEAT THE NEW BOSS

Find yourself transported into the warped mind of The Stranger. Avoid the sight of his relentless scanning eyes, but don’t get caught or be prepared to face swarms of rodents whilst still combatting waves of Quiet Ones.

Methods: The Canada Files - LockedOn
For the past month I have been working on an exciting new feature. As of today, you can now play it in English and Chinese!



This feature is called "Hangouts", a way to chat with your teammates and find out more about them. Make the right choices and you'll boost their morale — improving the mood of Team Tads! Make the wrong choices, and you'll damage their morale.

Hangouts are available in the Extras menu, which will unlock after you complete Chapter 5.

The Hangouts are affected by who you voted for in Chapter 4. However, because the game is in early access and new builds may interfere with old ones, you might need to cast the vote again to see how it affects the Hangouts.

Have fun discovering this new feature!



There are also many other small improvements and features. In addition to the Hangouts, we've added the Bios menu to the game too, which is a big upgrade from the bios in the first game. You can now see character's age, height, and more information.

You can also find it in the extras menu.

The other extras will be added to the game in the coming months.
