The game features an all-new visual chess experience, with customizable avatars and profiles that allow you to create your own unique chess identity. And for those who prefer to test their skills against other players, Dark Chess offers a thrilling PvP mode, with opponents who are as clever and tricky as you are.

Hello fellow Elders! It is time for a new update on the development of the game.
We have some juicy additions!

Boons!
A new system has been added that rewards players for beaing Doom visions at each page in the game. The boons are granted by the Domains, allowing you to choose from a set of predefined bonuses and get a great help in fighting the next events. I'm not spoiling them, however!



The Apocalypse is Coming!
The Apocalypse at the end of the game has been defined and balanced. Expect it to be fierce and relentless! Will you be able to fight it off?



Balacing turns
With the balance being in a good state, I also made sure to tune the number of turns and events that will be encountered to provide a smoother experience.

New difficulty options!
A lot of players of all kinds are interested in playing dotAGE for different reasons.
To make sure that the game is at the right pace for everyone, I added new difficulty options.

Balancing and testing is going smoothly, but there still a few bugs scattered around. Stay tuned for more information.

Hello everyone, it's time for another quick update! We had originally planned to attend Steam Next Fest in February to get some eyes on the game, but when the time came, we just felt the product wasn't done cooking in time. For that reason, we opted out at the last minute.

Enter Right Screen: STEAM NEXT FEST JUNE

Another shot for us is coming in June! We'll be attending Steam Next Fest in June with an even bigger demo that more representative of the final product. Rather than just one level, the demo for June will feature several levels, and allow players to start the story from the very beginning, instead of being thrown randomly in the middle somewhere like the currently standing demo does. You'll be able to see the story unfold from the beginning with our beloved Codrin and Daciana growing a bit along the way. With new areas comes new secrets to find, more soundtrack to enjoy, more enemies to fight, and even boss battles to conquer!

As per the Next Fest instructions, the demo will be released straight to Steam, so you won't need to scour itch.io for it. We hope you're looking as forward to it as we are! Big thanks to everyone who has spread the word and wishlisted our game so far! We hope not to disappoint you, and blow your expectations up even more!

Yesterday we announced the events that will be running throughout March. These events are quite different from anything we've done before, so there have naturally been many questions from the community. We'll be answering some of the most frequently asked questions in today's news post.


Are there special items to buy from the vendors in Ruthless with Gold?
In addition to regular items, an NPC in each town now offers items you can gamble for, using gold (similar to Gwennen).


Is the Ruthless event voided?
Yes.


Can I play the Group SSF events solo?
While it's possible to create a private league for yourself in these events, the Friendly Fire and Polarity Group SSF events will require at least three and two party members respectively in order to deal damage to monsters. The Krangled Passive Tree event doesn't have these restrictions, so it can be played solo.


In the group events, can accounts be added and removed from the Private Leagues freely (so more than the maximum number of allowed accounts can have participated in the Private League over its duration)?
The number of accounts in a Private League is limited to the number of players the event allows. Accounts can't be removed.


Will these Private League templates be added to the list of general Private League modifiers?
We're keen to continue to augment the list of Private League modifiers, and some of these may make their way there in the future.


How are masteries going to work in the Krangled Passive Skill Tree Event?
Mastery locations are Krangled, but their options are not.


For the Polarity event, if you're in a party of 2 players, can both players roll the same polarity?
No, polarities are assigned when players enter a zone. The first player to join an instance will be assigned to one polarity and the next will be assigned the other.


Why is there only one set Krangled Passive Tree for all players instead of having a new randomised tree seed for each character?
It's intentional that everyone gets the same tree so that everyone is trying to solve the same metagame. If it's popular, we'd like to run other variations in the future.


Why are these events so niche?
We wanted to try some new things. Historically our events have been focused on having the most broad appeal while also being achievable alongside our development schedule. Getting to experiment with new options means trying a few things that aren't necessarily for everyone but will give us good information for designing events in the future. At the very least, we're hoping that these events will be fun to watch even if some players feel it's not conducive to their personal playstyle.


Why are there no Endless-style events this time?
We have run the two existing endless events (Heist and Delve) a few times already and they'd need a bit of sprucing up to be exciting to do again. Endless Sanctum is potentially a cool idea for the future but not something we want to run alongside the actual Sanctum league.


Can there be more participation prizes for the Group SSF Events? It feels like the Top 10 slots will get taken over by racing groups/streamers and will leave nothing for others.
Because these are niche and experimental, we're wanting to see how they do based purely on the attraction of playing them. At the moment, we're not planning to add any additional prizes.


Does this confirm that the next league will start on the 7th of April (PDT)?
Yes.

Ancestor System – Part 2
In the year 2017 we introduced Part 1 of the Ancestor System. Now we are proud that we finally implemented Part 2 of the system.

What's New
At NPC Lucius you are now able to get 2* Ancestory Accessory Items for 2 ExCo each. These can be equipped on Lv. 85 characters. It is required to have the same 1* Ancestory Accessory Item equipped before you can equip the 2* one. The 1* Items is then replaced by the 2* Item giving you higher stats than the 1*. The 2* Ancestor Accessory Items can only be equipped on Level 85 characters.

What has changed?
The 1* Ancestor Accessory items stop working (stop giving additional stats) as soon as your character becomes Lv. 85 and the text with the level requirement now turns red. If you want additional stats from Ancestor Items on a Lv. 85 character you need to farm 2* Items and replace the 1* ones.1* Ancestor Accessory Items are only giving additional stats to characters Lv. 20~84.


NPC Lucius ExCo Exchange Update
At NPC Lucius you can now get the 2* Ancestor Accessory Items for 2 ExCo each and the [Regular] Prime Pixel (PATK)> and [Regular] Prime Pixel (MATK) for 3 ExCo each.


General Fixes and Changes

• Update: The production system quests Logging, Mining, Mowing and Fishing have been changed from Hero Quest to Adventurer Quest type. Also they now disappear when the character reaches Level 31.
• Update:The quests Holy Armor – Gloves and Holy Armor now disappear when the character reaches Level 41

This is King Masher: King of all Makai. He is a new Farming Quest Pet with exclusive rewards via Nulgath Farming methods, developed by Sir Fainal Oremor. His many quests will take you into The Fiend Lands to collect Essences of Nulgath, Contracts of Nulgath, Tainted Gems, and more. Buy this new quest pet from the Special Pets shop on Gaz in Battleon (or the Chest icon on the screen) and click on King Masher to pop up his quests and get started.

Note: The Nulgath Saga region has been renamed The Fiend Lands in the Travel and Adventure Menus.



This particular quest is a new design. It is not meant to be farmed, like the others, since the drop rate is extremely low, even compared to the other Contracts of Nulgath farming method. This quest is meant to be carried with you while you farm the other Nulgath Farming quests.

Every monster, mini-boss, and boss of the Wasteland; and every monster, mini-boss, and main Fiend Boss in the Catacombs (with the exception of the lesser insects in catacomb 2) have a very rare chance of dropping an Unidentified 13.

Seleden Forest monsters are excluded from this quest. Only Wasteland and Catacombs monsters will count for the Quest Item drop, so it is best to have completed Part 2 of the Nulgath Saga before accepting these quests.

Note: Contract of Nulgath max stack has been increased from 1 to 2. And this quest is also available in Bamboozle's farming quests as well as being retroactively added to the Crag Quest Pet.

This shop is to preview reward items only. Ignore the Impossible Preview Tokens of Nulgath cost.

• Complete the To Serve a King quest to get:
  King Masher Clinger (back - shown in image)
  
• Complete the King Makai Core Essence quest to get:
  King Masher Travel Form

All methods of obtaining Contracts of Nulgath have been doubled for 1 week - including the quest pet rewards. This bonus ends with next week’s release.
 
We're aware that some players have been unable to talk to some NPCs to turn in / complete their quests. This bug is currently being investigated. Thank you for your bug reports.
