Core Keeper - Bridie
It’s been a very exciting month with the launch of our Quality of Love Update. This was the first time we released something that was part seasonal event and part content update, and we were very pleased to see such a positive response from the Core Keeper community.

With all-new seasonal content, the addition of our brand-new music and instruments mechanic, and changes to our rendering pipeline for improvements to lighting and shadows, we think this was the perfect way to kick off the new year…and we’re just getting started! There’s so much we want to shout about on the horizon for 2023, and we’ve got plenty to share, but we think the best place to start is with the reveal of our brand-new roadmap! Scroll down to the bottom of the post for the roadmap image.

Anniversary Event
If you’ve been with us since the very beginning, you’ll know that Core Keeper’s birthday is March 8th! That’s the day we launched in Early Access just one year ago. Developing the game has been a delight from day one, and we’re so excited to be celebrating our first birthday with such an incredible community. And what better way to celebrate our anniversary than with a little in-game Anniversary Event? With all-new seasonal items such as birthday hats and birthday cake, plus a permanent new music sheet for indie favourite Terraria, it’s shaping up to be a real celebration in the underground!

Cherry Blossom Festival
Did you know that our CEO, Fredrik, is learning Japanese? そうなんです!Truth be told, the entire dev team has a fondness for Japanese culture, and you might just spot a few references to our favourite pieces of Japanese media in Core Keeper if you look hard enough. We’re especially fond of the beautiful cherry blossom season that occurs around late March to early April and covers huge parts of the country in a pink wash of petals. We wanted to share our love for cherry blossoms and give a nod to our growing Japanese community by celebrating with our very own Cherry Blossom festival mini-event in Core Keeper this spring.

Easter Seasonal Event
We had such a blast running our Easter seasonal event last year that we knew we wanted to run it again this year. Our last Easter celebration was our first-ever seasonal event for Core Keeper, and we learnt so much from your community feedback. Since then, we’ve celebrated Halloween, Christmas/New Year, and Valentine’s with lots of exciting new seasonal content. With that in mind, we wanted to build on the Easter event to bring it up to par with what you’ve come to expect from our seasonal events, which is why you can expect a little something extra from us this year in the form of new seasonal outfits, decorative items, and environmental effects.

Animal Update (Name TBC)
We’re very excited about this one, Explorers, as this is our next major content update. We’ve always been keen to develop the kind of game YOU want to play, and that means listening to what you have been asking for…and you really wanted animals! We’re already hard at work planning out the Animal Update, which will introduce a brand-new pets mechanic – allowing players to discover, hatch, and care for a variety of friendly critters. We hope you’re looking forward to finding the perfect pet and taking it with you on your underground adventure.

Alongside the addition of new content and mechanics, we’ll be making lots of game-wide improvements and adjustments with this update. We want each individual to have a unique experience when exploring the underground, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on how you, as a community, are actually playing the game. To that end, we’ll be revisiting and refining existing content to really enrich the in-game experience, paying special attention to the ways in which we can make the world feel more alive through features like environmental responses (such as cave-ins) and fleshed out combat (including a new parry mechanic for shields).

Crystal Biome (Name TBC)
As if the Animal Update wasn’t exciting enough, you can expect another major content update from us later on in the year. That’s right, the Crystal Biome will introduce a new crystalline biome with all-new materials, equipment, enemies, crafting options, a new boss, and more! For those of you who don’t know, the Crystal Biome was announced in our last roadmap back in 2022. After careful consideration, we realised that we really wanted to increase the depth of gameplay through our other updates before we launched this one to ensure a richer experience for players, which is why the Crystal Biome has been moved further along into the year.

Core Keeper Pricing Information
Alongside the launch of our latest roadmap, we wanted to share some information with you regarding changes to the pricing of Core Keeper. When we launched in Early Access on March 8th 2022, we had a rough idea of what we expected to offer in terms of content in the lead-up to our 1.0 release, and this was reflected in the game’s price point.

As both the game and community expanded over the course of the year and beyond, we realised that we wanted to be able to offer you so much more during Early Access, and we started to dream big. With the help of our publisher, Fireshine Games, we set out with a much more ambitious plan that included things like dedicated servers, seasonal events, mini-updates, early localisations, and even more major updates based on community feedback – adding lots more value and content to the game than we initially thought possible.

The price will be changing soon after the Animal Update is live, and we’ll be providing more information on the exact time and date of this in the future. Please note that the increase will not impact users who have already purchased the game in any way. We wanted to give you plenty of notice of this upcoming change so that you are able to make the most informed purchasing decisions possible.

An Exciting Year Ahead!
That’s everything from us for now, Explorers, but we just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you for your continued support throughout 2023. We’ve got so much on the horizon that we can’t wait to talk about, so make sure that you’re following us on the official Core Keeper Discord and Twitter channels for the latest news, information, and updates. We’re off to put the finishing touches on our Anniversary Event!

Century: Age of Ashes - Simon.Poser
Time to head back to the arena and focus on your progression through all available game modes with the next wave of our Double XP Event. It’s also your last chance to maximize your efficiency and gains before the end of Season 1!

Double XP starts on March 3 (11:00 UTC) and will last until March 6 (9:00 UTC).

The rules are pretty simple: all the experience you will gain at the end of your matches will count as double. This x2 ratio applies to your final count of XP on the summary screen visible at the end of your matches.

This also means all the XP Boosters you activate during this period will activate at the same rate on your scores, but grant you double the experience.

Keep your riding skills sharp and see you soon in the skies!

The Front - FriendlyMedic#8862
Official Reveal Trailer: https://youtu.be/vq4csXt-IgU

Greetings everyone! This year, our team's innovative ideas have come together to create a game that combines exploration, survival, construction, crafting, first-person shooting, and vehicular combat into a single, action-packed adventure.

Progress and Conquer
As players progress through the game, they'll unlock new technologies, build modern bases and fortresses, and engage in intense open-world warfare against unique enemies. With over 400 technical formulas to learn, players must visit various locations to collect rare resources to craft tools and weapons.

Survive to Thrive
Survival is the key to success in The Front, with players needing to contend with hunger, thirst, and deadly threats from beasts and enemy sieges. With a wide range of structures at their disposal, players can build fixed structures and mobile platforms, set traps, and use water and power systems to create sprinklers, sensor lights, turrets, and more to defend against enemy attacks.

Adrenaline-Packed Combat
Weapons and vehicles are also customizable, with players able to equip a range of accessories, from sights and grips to anti-aircraft machine guns and external armor, to suit their situation. The Front features a diverse range of gameplay experiences, from vehicular combat to sniper battles and helicopter flights.

Immersive Open World
With a vibrant open world that features a day/night cycle, dynamic weather, and cyclical ecosystems, The Front immerses players in a realistic and thrilling adventure. Explore dense forests, snowy regions, and deserts across a 36km² map and engage in adrenaline-fueled combat experiences that will make your heart pound with excitement.

Vintage Records from Hell - DoubletonWriter
Greetings Metalheads!

It’s with a great amount of joy that I offer you today the Vintage Records from Hell update!
And with this update comes a new feature : Metalheads Stickers!(tm)

THE NEW FEATURE
Metalheads Stickers are a way to give personality to your store!
These stickers can be found when doing the “Work on Financials” task which consists of looking between couch cushions for coins, raiding the laundromat, recycling cans…

The game features 100 unique Metalheads Stickers for you to collect and stick on the wall of your heavy metal record shop.

Note: I've also added a new Character scene where you get introduced to the Metalheads stickers.
NEON SIGNS!
I always wanted to update the wall logo and the window decal and finally, I took time last week to do so.
I’ve also added an extra update level to each and now, both end with a nice red neon pentagram!

NEW ACHIEVEMENTS
• A new achievement has been added called “Lots of Stickers” and is awarded to the player collects 100 stickers!

LOANS
A few players have been struggling with the loans payments and/or interest rates. Based on this feedback the loans less brutal would help new players get past the ten first days of the game.

• Loans are now less brutal.
• Interest rates and daily payments have been adjusted.

TASK
• Two task rewards have been adjusted to give players more money during the 10 first crucial days. ( Buy 5 vintage records and Sell vintage records now awards you with $100 each instead of $50 )
• Two new tasks were added to feature the Metalheads Stickers feature.

MARKET SHARE
Hardcore players have been trying to gain more and more market share, but this task took too long in the previous iteration of the game.

• Gaining market share should be about three times faster.

FIXES,ADJUSTMENTS AND TYPOS.
As usual, working on a new update is always a great time to fix or adjust some workflow and correct some typos.

• You can now use ESC to exit the build view.
• Fixed a few typos.

I think that’s everything!

As usual, I’d like to thank everyone who took time to send over feedback and help out. A one-person development team is quite small and having players chip-in really helps elevate the game to...well...a better game! :)

Have a great week and...rock on!
RuneScape ® - Jagex Azanna
Ninjas, Yaks and Jam. What a combo! They’re also the subjects of this week’s update. Let’s break ‘em down, one by one…

Yak Track is back, and this time we step on to the foreboding forefront that is the Forinthry Frontier. Try saying that five times fast.

If you’ve been playing New Foundations over the past fortnight, you’ll hopefully by now established Fort Forinthry and attained noble status. Next, you’ll want to look the part. It’s time to acquire some posh pets and regal threads!

Complete Yak Track tasks and get your hands on fancy new robes, armour, and even the new Golden Detonate ability override - plus some pampered pooches and classy cats! Say hello Chipper, Linnet, Piper and Muick (not to mention their eight adorable variants).

Yak Track begins today (Monday February 27th) and continues until May 15th, giving you over two months to complete it. Why so generous? Well, it’s because this time we’re giving you a whopping 70 tasks to tackle! This longer event window should give you enough of a chance to get them all done, but of course, the usual Skill & Kill and Task Skip options are available too.

We’ll also be welcoming the return of the Yak Coin Shop, where you can redeem Yak Coins for all sorts of useful and luxurious items, including XP boosts, previous Yak Track cosmetics (Journey to Iaia rewards now included!), and alternate versions of some of the new cosmetics.

You get one Yak Coin for every 5 tasks during the core track up to task 50, then every 2 tasks up to track 70, plus another for every completion of the repeatable track. Don't hold onto them too long though, because your coins will vanish one week after the track finishes.

Here is smorgasbord of some of the Rewards appearing in the Track and Yak Store!

The Ninjas are back with some precision-focused Quality of Life updates! Improvements include enhanced lighting in the Raksha arena, a more accessible Curator to help your Elder God Wars quests and an end to Aura timers decreasing while you’re offline!

Check out the full list in our Patch Notes section further down.

Here's a little look at the Raksha arena before...

...And after. Ding!

Our talented team of developers and artists have been working hard on some previously mentioned Game Jam ideas, and several of those will make their debut today! These include Mod Stu's Icthlarin's Little Helper improvements and Mod Desert's Croesus tweaks. We’re also introducing refinements to the Zuk encounter, Charos Clue Carrier and Olaf's Quest!

General
  • Wilderness Sword 4 can be reclaimed again.
  • Fixed an exploit that could allow the Clan Experience Boost buff to be increased slightly beyond the cap of 6%.
Ninja Strike
  • Characters across Gielinor that were involved in the Elder Gods storyline have been updated to their correct state.
  • The Curator is now accessible for Elder God Wars quests - find him in Burthope for all of your questing needs!
  • Chincendiary is no more: Incendiary, Meteor Strike, and Tsunami have been reworked to no longer double dip into Area of Effect damage via stalling abilities/swapping weapons.
  • Changed all occurrences of ‘toolbelt’ in text to ‘tool belt’ for consistency.
  • The timer for an active Aura will no longer decrease while logged out. This does not include the Greenfinger Auras, though.
  • The player is able to rot fungus while performing various actions during the fight with Croesus.
  • Improved the lighting in the Orthen Oubliette where Raksha is imprisoned.
  • Necklace of Salamancy is now easier to obtain while skilling.
  • Necklace of Salamancy can now be put into your Keepsake Box as an override.
Game Jam
October
  • Improvements to Icthlarin's Little Helper:
    • The quest-giver no longer requires a Tinderbox and full Waterskin.
    • Trap doors in Klenter's pyramid are now outlined and remain open for a couple minutes when triggered.
    • Reduced inconvenient random mechanics (eg. probability of falling down a pit, randomisation of the tile puzzle).
    • The tool belt can now sap trees (including Acadia trees) and provide salt for the embalmer.
    • Clearer guidance and less backtracking.
    • Made some interactions (eg using the unholy symbol on a sarcophagus) more mobile-friendly.
    • The Icthlarin cutscene now uses his latest character model.
  • Added a new Crafting category to Gameplay Settings, under ‘Skills & Experience’.
    • Also added a toggle for receiving Noted Clay from the Modified Artisan's Bandana. When first-time players receive items from the Bandana they have the option to choose whether they'd like Noted or Unnoted Clay.
  • Rebalanced Croesus drop tables and Hunter experience.
Dev Note : After monitoring the gameplay flow of the encounter it became obvious that it was tuned a little too high; solo trash runs were proving to be the best method of skilling Hunter, and drop rates were injecting more materials and gold than intended. We have now reduced these rates to better maintain the intended value of the boss, while not overshadowing other methods of experience gain. We will be monitoring these changes further and will continue to tune the encounter where applicable.

  • Hunter XP in the encounter has also been reduced:
    • From the central node by 33%
    • From the enriched nodes on the Dagannoth by 66%.
    • From non-enriched nodes on the Dagannoth by 66%.
    • From Darkened Fungus on the Dagannoth by 66%.
    • From additional nodes around the Dagannoth by 66%.
  • Common drop table changes:
    • Removed Uncut Onyx, replaced with Onyx Dust drop.
    • Changed medium Orikalkum Salvage drop from x3-5 to x2-5.
    • Reduced Crystal Key volume from x8-12 to x8.
    • Reduced Red Spider Eggs drop from x45-55 to x20-30.
    • Reduced Limpwurt Root drop from x35-45 to x17-27.
    • Reduced Grape Vine Seed drop from x10-14 to x6-10.
    • Reduced Cockatrice Egg drop from x40-50 to x5-10.
    • Reduced Mort Myre Mushroom drop from x45-55 to x20-30.
    • Reduced Uncut Diamonds from x15-25 to x5-15.
    • Reduced Uncut Rubies from x35-45 to x17-27.
    • Reduced Uncut Emeralds from x35-45 to x17-27.
  • Altered contribution thresholds:

    • The following auto-collectors no longer place drops into the player's inventory during the Croesus encounter:
      • Charming Imp
      • Seedicide
      • Legendary Pet with Scavenge ability
      • Note: Charming Imp and Seedicide will still be able to convert drops to XP as before.
    • Skilling nodes within the Croesus boss encounter can now be Bladed… er… Dived (Bladed dove? Bladed doovde?) onto, and doing so will start the skilling action.
    • Adjusted the examine text for the Ophalmi's statue to now be in line with the other 'Slayer of x' statues present in the Croesus arena.
    • Added sorting items function on the Oddments Store into ‘unowned’ and ‘owned.’
    December
    • The Quest List's filter checkboxes are now listed under a filter button, and labeled with consistently positive language. The confusing ‘recommended’ checkbox has been removed. Quests can now be sorted and filtered from the Quest List’s child list in a similar manner to the Adventures->Quests parent interface. Check out this thread for some extra insights from Mod Stu!
    • Charos Clue Carrier takes items from Bank and Inventory if used from the Inventory inside the Bank interface.
    • Ring of Kinship is now kept on death.
    • Added a right-click option to ‘make all runes’ within the Wicked Hood interface.
    • Olaf’s quest has been improved:
      • You no longer need a spade in your inventory to enter the cavern, as there is a patch of snow you can dig.
      • If you fail the agility obstacle you are placed within the cavern.
      • The agility obstacle no longer forcibly toggles your run.
      • You can no longer fail the agility obstacle randomly (if you run you will always fail; if you walk you will always succeed).
      • The large block of ice at the entrance has been replaced by small rocks for players who did not take part in the Easter 2011 event.
    • Fixed an issue where you were forced into melee range when attacking TzKal-Zuk from the west (caused by the vent).
    • Fixed an issue where Jad's attack animations could not be seen if recently stunned.
    • Fixed an issue where your movement would appear stalled when hit by TzKal-Zuk's magic attack during the showdown.
    • Fixed an issue where the Resonance ability buff icon wasn't cleared when hit by a geyser.
    • Fixed an issue where TzKal-Zuk would not correctly phase when at his life points threshold during the showdown.
    • Removed an animation stall related to the Penguin Hide and Seek activity.
