-Multiplayer update
-ports to all major platforms
-translations into 11 new languages
-The official Stardew Valley Wiki
-merchandise
-Stardew Valley board game
-Musical collaborations like the Orchestral recording by vgm classics
-The Stardew Valley Cup
-Launch of the official Stardew Valley forums
-A thriving modding community

and most importantly, a fantastic player community that has added a ton of depth and life to this world. So as always, I want to thank YOU for being part of this, and helping to make Stardew Valley what it is today. None of this would have been possible without your support and I will always be thankful for that.

Up next? A 1.6 update that is focused on adding tons of new support for modders. This will make modding a lot easier and much more powerful.

I will also be working on my next game, Haunted Chocolatier.

Hey all!

New dev diary just dropped on YouTube! I know it's been nearly a year since my last one, and news has been pretty light since launch, so hopefully this gets you caught up!

Enjoy!

Sunset Mall - Hecking Heck
Hello everyone,

This new update brings a lot to the game and also correct a few areas where the game has gone wrong in the past. As you all may know this game was more of a showcase of my abilities as I progressed through my game development journey. I have changed and tweaked the game so much. Added and removed so much as I have learned new things and new ways of fixing issues. I am glad to have gotten the game to where it is and as such I am now officially moving onto the next project!

This project will be spoken about in more detail in the official Sunset Mall Discord server so be sure to check there when you can!

Here is a quick breakdown of the new stuff!

  • + Add 50+ new texture types to the mall!
  • + Tweak Shopping Mode so that it will load a random Mall
  • + Add a new system for collecting and listening to music
  • + Re-work the Soda system, it is now easier to collect and using Sodas
  • + Add new Shoppers around the mall to talk too
  • + Add new quotes for shoppers
  • + Add 4 new tracks
  • + Tweaked the outside of the Mall
  • + Added new cars around the Mall to interact with *not drive*
  • + Added new items and bring retired items back
  • + Added 7 new Mall Layouts
  • + Added 'End of Life' support just to be ready. (Do not worry that wont be for awhile)

  • - Removed Multiplayer, it was buggy and unused. (I will soften the blow in future announcement)
  • - Removed some unrelated content
  • - Removed default cube Mall
  • - Temporarily Removed 2nd Story just while we test the new layouts!

Thanks for the continued support towards the game, I look forward to bringing more games out just like it in the near future!

HRO: Adventures of a Humanoid Resources Officer - Worthing & Moncrieff
There’s a terrific episode of Will & Grace in which Jack is so wrapped up in his acting career that he doesn’t notice his best friend Karen’s life is falling apart. A few dozen punchlines and one really amazing epiphany scene later Jack course corrects. For me, this is a perfect metaphor for playtesting. It’s a scheduled period for me and Eric to stop, step back, and listen to what our players are saying.

At W&M we’re big believers in the power of playtesting to identify problems. We’ve found that when a player finds a problem they’re always right — there is always a problem. How that problem gets resolved falls to the dev team. The key is figuring out why the player was prompted to say what they said. The right fix requires us to balance the original vision for the game, the technical constraints we’re working under, and the larger game experience as a whole. Perfect solutions are sometimes hard to come by — but we take our commitment to crafting the best possible product very seriously.

Feedback is absolute gold and we want to thank all our playtesters for their time and keen insight. HRO is coming out of Beta testing today and we’re looking forward to assessing their comments and making a plan to address the questions that the process raises — all with an eye toward our upcoming May 23 release date! Very exciting!

Hey guys,
here is the release version.

We have improved controller support and tested it on Steam Deck. So far so good. But there is room for improvement. And we are open to your feedback.

Sounds and Music - done. But, there are some problems with Steam Deck sound lib in the engine that we using(Solar2D). We have found a solution to it but will push it in the next update.

Another major thing that will be added soon - is the endless tower.

Thx for your support!

The Department / Trosedd Playtest - Matthew4910
  • Implemented an 8-way directional movement system to enhance player controls and character animations.
  • Added a tutorial prompt for using the flashlight, as some players were unaware that this was a feature.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the saved location to not reset if the player created a new save game without closing the game first.
  • Enabled saving and loading for the nightclub level.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to open the inventory in the main menu and the pause menu.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to slide when moving with the taser equipped.
  • Added a clue counter in the top right of the screen to help players keep track of how many clues they have found and how many are left to find. Note that not all clues need to be found to progress.
  • Due to popular demand, the phones in the nightclub level are now interactable. You can mark them as evidence and turn them off.
These changes aim to enhance your gameplay experience and address issues or concerns that have been reported. We appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoy playing The Department!
