Asterigos: Curse of the Stars - Xsarion
With the release of the Asterigos: Call of the Paragons expansion right around the corner, Hilda can step into Phantasma - a mysterious new realm full of danger and untold legends.

In today's devlog, we want to open up the mystery a bit and tell you about Phantasma and the challenges you will have to face.

The breathtaking Phantasma
Phantasma is the realm of the Ascended Paragons, the heroes and heroines of Aphes' past who ascended and rested among the Gods of the Stars. We really wanted the area to resemble and be associated with myths and mystique of cosmic proportions.

Hence the color blue, the purple night sky, and the many interstellar phenomena, as if Hilda had stepped into an alien world where everything simultaneously looks so exotic and yet familiar.

A realm full of stories
When we were designing the world of Asterigos, we had many stories to tell. These include the struggle for the lives of the citizens of Aphes, the bravery of the Northwind Legion, and the story of the City of Stars. However, there are many stories we haven't had time to tell, especially the myths of Aphes.

So this time, with Phantasma as the central location for the DLC, we finally get to tell the story and build the adventure around it.

The challenges Hilda will face are those of the Paragons. These legendary heroes rested among the Gods for eons until their sleep was disturbed by an unknown dark force. When Hilda entered Phantasma, the paragons perceived the stranger as an intruder and thought she was the one behind unleashing the dark force.

Hilda must prove her innocence by passing the harshest trials of the Paragons, the one of which we are about to tell you.

Facing the Legendary Heroes of the Past
One of the seven heroes Hilda will face is Hippocrates. Founder of the Phalan Academy. The tenth Archon of the Legion.

Despite his noble origins, Hippocrates did not possess the arrogance and haughtiness inherent in other Aristoi. He was rude, impertinent, and unashamedly critical of his opponents. This character helped him get along with his peers in the legion in no time.

Believing that warriors should be well-trained in combat, magic, and wisdom, Hippocrates quickly put his thoughts into practice after joining the legion. He endowed his shield with Starite magic and controlled the shield's levitation with magic, taking his enemies by surprise during battles. This was unheard of in those days for Aphes, and Hippocrates was the first warrior to use Starite magic in his battle weapons.

Seeking to encourage the use of Starite in weapons, Hippocrates even used his family's wealth and lands to conduct research and eventually developed various types of astral ballistas, which were considered very advanced at the time.

Some could release a continuous astral beam to trap or obstruct enemies' movement, but the beams trajectory could not be altered during use.

Others could track enemies and destroy them in a matter of seconds, but their range was limited, and they used a much larger amount of Starite.

Due to the limitations of Starite magic technology, the design of astral ballistas was far from perfect, and they were expensive to make. While they could not be made widely available, they were still valuable research material for generations to come.

And though Hippocrates' tenure as the tenth Archon of the Legion was very short, he lived up to his credo and laid the cornerstone for the future of Aphes.

The Trials of Hippocrates
For the Hippocrates challenge, the battle begins with the first phase, an endurance test. Many projectiles like laser beams will be aimed at Hilda, and shields of judgement will fall from the sky, all under the constant onslaught of Hippocrates' minions. Only when Hilda can defeat them can she come face to face with Hippocrates himself.

This is how the second phase begins - a strength test. Hippocrates has a floating magical shield that constantly surrounds him and blocks any incoming attacks. This gives him the advantage of being able to push through. And that makes Hippocrates a formidable foe.

Try to figure out the right battle tactics and find his weaknesses!

Upgrade your weapons
We have also introduced a new game system: Weapon Mods. It allows Hilda to further customize her weapons with strong and unique powers. For example, the Brilliant Sun Blades allow Hilda to deal extra damage with her dual blades at the cost of stamina, while the Sword and Shield of the Starry Sky unleash a magic blast with every shield attack.

The new weapon mods can be unlocked by collecting rare materials from Phantasma and across the City of Aphes.

Vulcan will be happy to upgrade the weapons for you in the Shelter!

GROUND BRANCH - Scopey
Patch #17 is now live on the Community Test beta branch!

A lot of work has been done on AI using ladders and doors, but please bear with us because it's a work in progress and the ladders in particular are not quite there yet.

Compound has received an optimization pass including foliage. Please keep in mind that the foliage may look off when anti-aliasing is disabled or set to FXAA. A fix is being worked on.

How to join the Community Test beta branch
  • Right-click GROUND BRANCH in your Steam Library and select Properties…
  • Click BETAS on the left-hand list menu
  • Select 'communitytest - Community testing branch' from the drop-down menu
    (no password required)
Steam will begin downloading the files for the new testing branch.

Patch notes
  • Fixed City Hostage Rescue mission being incorrectly listed as co-op
  • Compound: significant performance optimization pass:

    • Improved appearance and efficiency of all foliage (WIP; will not work well with FXAA or no anti-aliasing)
    • Improved visuals and efficiency of the vista/backdrop
    • Sharpened up lots of textures
    • Improved the appearance of foliage and grass using custom normal maps — stops dark faces when grass is shadowed, removes need for subsurface lighting
    • Improved look of grass when looking down or high sun angle
    • Switched to a better looking simple wind material function, less glittery, looks more natural
    • Deleted lots of unused assets, foliage types, textures etc. relating to Compound
  • Fix for glass in City being overly bright in night vision
  • Updated doors and ladders to fix bugs, tweak settings and add new features improving AI usage (WIP)
  • Stopped the player being able to run/jog if "Always Run" is set while playing as hostage
  • Added missing collision to hookah model
  • Updated double doors to use mirror opening, so both doors open at once
  • Updated 747, Creek and City doors and ladders
  • Cleaned up doors/ladders/navmesh for better AI usage on Depot, Docks, Power Station, Rig, Small Town, Storage Facility, Tanker and The Farm (also added navmesh to The Farm so AI should work better if you place it there in a custom mission)
  • Updated "Advanced AI Settings" menu: fixed elements running over/into each other and improved overall layout
  • Minor UI style and consistency pass on various dialogs and buttons
  • Started UI pass on Time/Weather Settings menu
  • Restored minimap to Compound (map was missing on Ops Board and Tablet)
  • Fixed some light portal and mesh culling issues in Run Down
  • Fixed missing rust normal map in oil rig material when puddles are disabled
  • Restrained players (Hostage Rescue) can no longer pick up items
  • Fixed voting timeouts for passed and failed votes not being taken into account (defaults of 60 and 180 seconds used regardless), and greatly reduced minimum timeouts (for ease of testing and to give people what they want)
  • Rebuilt cover points in all maps
  • Hide vote widgets after votes ended (hopefully to fix votes hanging around when done)
  • Changed default reticle brightness setting to change range (is now 0–4 rather than 0–5, so removed "None" as option) and added "Automatic" setting (corresponding to most recent change where brightness is determined based on time of day)
Train Sim World® 3 - DTG_Alex
Good afternoon everyone,

Unfortunately, due to one of our stream hosts being unwell, we will be postponing the preview of the upcoming U.S. content (NEC: New York-Trenton, Amtrak's Acela, Union Pacific Heritage Collection), originally planned for Thursday, February 16th. This is to allow them time to fully recover.

We will instead move the preview to Monday 20th February at 19:00 UTC instead, which is just in time to get a showcase of all the upcoming content releasing the following day.

Add-ons Manager:
On a separate note, we promised you an update on Add-ons Manager before the end of the week.

Our beta testers have provided some additional feedback based on last weekend's builds - and the team are reviewing this feedback before we can provide something more concrete in terms of a release date.

We know this isn't the good news you wanted to hear, but we're committed to getting this into your hands as quickly (and safely) as we can. At this stage, it will be after the release of the new American content on February 21st. Thanks for bearing with us.

Howdy Valley Villagers!

It’s update week once again and we couldn’t be more excited for this one! Not only have we seen your excitement in response to our sneak peeks on social, but we’ve got a bunch of other surprises below that we think you’ll be just as jazzed about!

The Early Access of Disney Dreamlight Valley has been progressing well and we’re really happy with what we’ve achieved already. We’ve squashed hundreds of bugs, improved game performance, and continue to work hard to implement improvements suggested by you, our passionate community. But of course, this is only the beginning!

Our next major content update, A Festival of Friendship, releases on Thursday, February 16th and there’s a lot to cover, so let’s get to it! Take a look below for a breakdown of what to expect on launch day, from new content, to the top bug fixes reported by the community (seriously, we can’t thank you enough!):

NEW CONTENT AND FEATURES:

  • "The Forgetting" Main Story continues: A snowstorm is brewing in Frosted Heights!
  • New Character: Welcome the Valley’s resident snowman, Olaf, with a warm hug.
  • New Character: As Disney celebrates the Wonder of Encanto around the world, Mirabel seizes the occasion to join the Valley, bringing with her Mini-Casita.
  • Celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary with a very special new Star Path inspired by real-world Disney100 items.
  • Take your reno outside and change the look of your fully upgraded house with newly added house colors or acquire premium house skins from the Premium Shop.
  • The Premium Shop opens! Use Moonstones to collect all sorts of exclusive, rotating cosmetic items like clothing, furniture, premium house skins and more. The Premium Shop content is separate from Scrooge McDuck’s General Store (which will also have content additions regularly). Be sure to check out the Premium Shop often to discover the latest items to help you express yourself and design your village just how you dream it to be.
  • With the arrival of the Premium Shop, we have adjusted Daily Moonstone chests to increase the number of Moonstones they grant each day. They will now grant 50 Moonstones (previously 10).
  • Scrooge McDuck General Store has received a shipment of new goods! Got Star Coins from your recent Pumpkin Puff haul burning a hole in your pocket? Keep an eye out for new clothing and furniture items in his stock.
  • We’ve seen some of your storage rooms and we’re both impressed and scared. Chests that are crafted at Crafting Stations now come in three different varieties, offering larger storage capacities.
  • While we appreciate the creative ways you’ve organized your chest hoards, we’ve added a little something to help. Craft customizable signposts to help remind you what’s in a specific chest or mark your fave fishing spot.
  • Fridges now... fridge (well, minus the cooling). Furniture that is classified as storage – like fridges and cabinets – will now act as basic chest storage.
  • Capping off storage-palooza, we’ve added quality of life features that allow you to auto sort your items, as well as quickly transfer items between your inventory and storage with smart transfer.
  • Take that house reno back inside! You can now modify the look of doors inside your house based on ones you’ve collected, as well as adjust their placement.
  • We’ve improved wallpaper management to add more variety in your house. Now, you can adjust wallpaper on a wall-by-wall basis instead of selecting one style for the whole room.
  • Craft new Role Training Manuals to change the roles of your villagers. Whether you’re maximizing your gardening potential or giving Goofy a new hobby, you don’t have to feel locked into your past decision.
  • The Valley is more talkative... Don’t worry, we didn’t increase Donald’s tantrums. All characters have gained additional daily discussion topics.

TOP BUG FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Kristoff’s stall has received a slight overhaul. In previous updates, we made some changes to his stall, with a goal of striking a balance between making the shop more interesting and enticing (i.e. adding iron ingots), and ensuring that gathering rare materials isn’t made trivial (i.e. adding a daily limit). We heard your feedback – especially about the change to coal – and kept iterating. As a result, we've tweaked the settings a little and brought back something you loved. The daily buy limit has been removed for coal and we’ve increased the buy limit for everything else at the stall (from 3-5 to 10-20).
  • Miracle Growth Elixir, Miracle Pickaxe Polish, Miracle Shovel Varnish, Miracle Fishing Bait (and their Even More Miraculous alternatives) have had their efficiency increased and the resources required to craft them reduced.
  • Various optimizations, including performance and stability improvements on all platforms.
  • The New Game button has moved to the settings menu and is now called Reset Game.
  • Fixed an issue causing players to be unable to navigate around the menu while cooking.
  • “Remembering Old Times” quest: Players should no longer encounter issues taking the photo necessary to progress in this quest.
  • “Stitch’s Hobby” quest: The TV in this quest should no longer pose a progression blocker or disappear from the player’s inventory.
  • Trash-clearing quests: Cleaning trash piles in Goofy and Merlin’s homes should now result in successful progression in these quests.
  • “A Deal with Ursula” quest: After further investigation of this quest, issues involving placing the crystals on the pedestals should be fixed.
  • “The Final Trial” quest: Players should now be able to pick up the Falling Water to progress in this quest.
  • “How Far You’ll Go” quest: The game should no longer crash when initiating a conversation with Moana to give her a fish.
  • “Magic Moments” quest: Reduced sushi quest requirement to resolve an issue some players were encountering.
  • “What Home Feels Like” quest: A new fix has been deployed to help resolve the pesky Glittering Herring bug. We will closely monitor this topic alongside the update launch, as we know this quest has been prickly for some players.
  • “The Definition of a Hero” quest: Making the asphalt and balloon arch should now progress the quest as intended.
  • “With Great Power” quest: The Crystal Key should no longer disappear or duplicate for players progressing in this quest.
  • “The Ceremony” quest: Players should now be able to take the final photo without getting stuck on the photo screen.
  • “A Space Ranger Reputation” quest: Buzz Lightyear and Ursula should now speak with each other, triggering the next step of the quest.
  • Fixed an issue which was causing some players’ games to freeze when leveling up either the avatar or villager, most notably after talking with them.
  • Fixed an issue in which villager houses disappear and cannot be recovered.
  • The crafting menu should now function more reliably as an issue which would cause movement to be disabled after selecting an item and switching tabs has been resolved.
  • Improved the spawning of ground-based materials in certain biomes.
  • The mailbox will no longer display duplicates of received mail.
  • You can now purchase those pesky candles in Scrooge McDuck General Store!
  • And many more fixes!
