It's time to add a new addition to the Fighting Fantasy Classics library! This one may be familiar to fans of our digital gamebooks in the past, as we first adapted this as a standalone title nine years ago - where has that time gone?
This time round we've kept things more authentic to Steve Jackson's original 1985 paperback release, including all the powers and fights as they originally appeared, and maintaining the storylines to each of the four powers exactly as they flowed in the original adventure. Even though this has meant a complete re-coding of the gamebook, it's been great to revisit Titan City once again and join the wacky supervillains that are hell-bent on taking over the world!
We have included a few extras from our standalone version though, including a number of the villain portraits that were commissioned for that game, which you can collect as you defeat each of the enemies. There are also new hero portraits to choose from and a new comic book page layout. You'll also notice we've added a new soundtrack called "Superhero Swing", which captures that 90s Saturday morning superhero cartoon vibe!
So, if superheroes are your jam and you love gamebooks, then make sure to check out Appointment with FEAR!
P.S. We had a slight hiccup with our previous build due to some changes in a Unity update. If you had problems accessing your books, we're so sorry! We've now pushed out a new build that fixes that issue.
We're working on a few projects that carry some of the spirit of Wildflower, but it'll make more sense to announce those as new projects with new names whenever they're ready.
This v2.1.12 build is a part of the major upcoming update. I couldn't wait to bring you Steam achievements so I released this early.
Achievements
Steam achievements: all in-game achievements are now also visible on Steam. There are 38 achievements currently in-game, and even more on the way. Go hunt that rare achievement and display it on your Steam profile!
Retroactive Steam achievement unlocks: Just start your game and after a few sec you will see your achievements you worked hard for sync up with the Steam achievements. That's some real gnome tinkering at work there!
Other fixes
Gnome names: 10 to 15 gnomes have names now, try look for them in the levels. Can you find them? You can see the name when you catch the gnome. These names were provided by people that attended the release party.
Bugfix: in some situations gnomes didn't properly detect that they were in full view and should have start running to a better hiding place. I taught them how to not mix up the y and z coordinates of their locations and that fixed the issue.
Jan. 17th, we will be launching a brand new and awaited update for Forest Freeroam.
This Update will include dozen new features, player improvements including Weapons, Inventory, Survival Stats and Crafting, Swimming and Diving System, Improved Animations and many more!
We're also bringing lots of additions to the Map, with Huntable Animals and Dangerous Animals. Over 10,000 collectable resources including crafting materials and various consumable items like fruits.
Completely replaced and improved Lake System with ability to dive and Explore the Underwater World!
There is also addition of a Minimap which is optional to activate, as well as a new Save System accessible from In-Game menu.
Freeroam Zen
Freeroam Zen will be a Subcategory of Forest Freeroam. Exact same world only without Survival Elements like Hunger and Thirst, Crafting and Dangerous Animals. All other non-dangerous content will be added. This sub-gamemode will be pure Exploration.
Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements. The game is much more stable now, but it still requires a lot of GPU Power if you want to go all out. We will continue to work on this.
Also to add, we have fixed the issues in the Story Mode with this update as well. Brighter Flashlight and Automatic Player Save so you don't lose your progress. There will be no additional content for this Gamemode.
All un-named additions will be posted on Update Event. This Update is Available Jan. 17th.
A few weeks ago, we announced that the first Multiplayer playtest would be moved to March. Due to some scheduling rearrangements, we are able to return the playtest to it's original date, February 18th-24th!
